From here on out.

I’m not convinced he ever really “had them”, but after last night, he’s definitely lost the team at this point.

Knowing BP, he’s probably going to trot Travis out there more now, which is not the answer. Don’t get wrapped up in if he can move the offense or not. There are so many fundamental problems with our program right now, that it doesn’t matter who our QB is. You’re simply throwing kids out there that aren’t prepared and ready to play, and providing inadequate gameplans to try and execute.

I know there’s been a plan all along to address the coaching staff at EOS w/ VT. I think the conversation will go in the direction of “make changes or move on”. With the new nepotism policy in place, changes will be addressed. I think had we performed well on the field, I fully expected BP to dig his heals in and fight it.

Considering where we are, and headed (1-2 possible more wins max), he might actually go along with it, and be given another year with an upgraded staff. Problem there is few quality coaches want to work for the guy.

Just my speculation on this part, but I’m guessing his agent is putting feelers out already about landing spots. Which is going to be slim at this stage. If he can walk away to a new place, for decent pay, he will.

Regardless, the ridiculous buyout can be overcome. If he refuses to make staffing changes, insubordination can be leveraged, along with the policy changes, to reduce the numbers. If he finds someone willing to hire him, it will be negotiated out anyway.

Today, I’d put it at 65/35 he’s not here next year. If he was more marketable, and there was a legitimate decent opening somewhere for him to take, I’d say 95/5 he gone. And he’d simply spin it that he didn’t want to work for VT, and once again find a roster with decent players and begin the process again of running a program in the ground.

Ok I know this is late in the game

but what tiny little crack did the FBI use to leverage their way into college sports. Did they just get tired of pretending to look for Hillary's transgressions and decide to branch off into something for more positive headlines.

This is a long stretch from tracking down John Dillinger to chasing shoe companies, coaches and parents selling out their kids.

I should know this but I don't. Wire tapping for crying out loud.

What BP should do at QB position Rest of Season

OK, I'm going out on a limb here, but I think there's only one possibility for BP to have a decent chance to come back next season. And that is if he wins at least 2 or 3 games of the 5 remaining. And at the same time his team doesn't look lost out there.

It is clear to me BP places an unusual amount of dependence and pressure on his QB. More than most other head coaches. BP needs someone who can read and scramble if necessary. He is very very dependent on good QB's.

I think Jawon Pass has shown to me that he cannot read and react well enough and fast enough to fit BP's methods and system. Also, his energy level seems quite low. There could be a comprehension, quickness in thinking, vision, or confidence issue.

If I am BP today, I abandon Pass (he will transfer at the end of the season) and go to the other two who show more energy.

I am casting my fate to the wind with Cunningham and Travis.

That's where I am in my thinking.

Why You Should Keep Bobby Petrino

If you are looking for a reason to keep Bobby Petrino, then look no farther than South Bend, Indiana. Brian Kelly was a "Dead Man Walking" in 2016. His Notre Dame team was sitting at 4-8. His season had begun with high expectations coming off a 10-3 season with a Fiesta Bowl berth. He fired his Defensive Coordinator mid-season and drew the ire of the Irish fanbase.

Kelly had a pretty solid track record prior to this horrible season. He was 43-6 at Cincinnati then got his dream job at ND. At ND he started off with two 8-5 seasons and then had his dream season finishing 12-1. After the 12-1 season he had a 4-loss and a 5-loss season. The fanbase began to become restless again. Then came the 4-8 season. The administration stuck with him. Kelly revamped his staff and focused on recruiting. Since the 4-8 season his team has been 17-3.

There are a lot of parallels with Kelly and Petrino. Both have succeeded at similar schools (UC and UofL) during their climb up the coaching ladder. Both landed in much higher profile jobs, with tougher schedules, and higher fan expectations. Both have had or are having a down year.

Everyone knew deep down that Brian Kelly had not forgot how to coach. His track record showed that he knew how to win. The same can be said for Petrino.

The difference may be whether Petrino can make the changes that Kelly made and turn it around. That remains to be seen, but UofL should allow it to happen.

Take comfort ... we’re not Rutgers ... this article is just amazing ...

https://www.sbnation.com/college-football/2018/10/14/17973978/rutgers-schedule-losses-2018

Some highlights ...

- QB almost had more INT’S than passing yards - 5 to 8.

- video of what one person said must be the longest onside kick in college football history. Truly embarrassing.

Rutgers is out-Rutgersing itself this year.

Seriously hilarious.

Boys & Girls All About Our O Line!!

Seven sacks against a very average defense! Cannot protect the passer or get much of a push in the running game! Offense left the defense on the field the entire second half, and gave the defense multiple poor field position in the first quarter! Jawon very average QB cannot take a sack when you are in position to kick a FG make it a one point game!

Not sure where we go from here! Defense is very young, but you can see we have young talent! O Line another matter. Just cannot continue with O line play like this, and expect to have any success!Know we have a small recruiting class, but would offer as many big bodies on both lines with playing time. It all comes down to controlling the line of scrimmage on both sides of the ball! Keep the defense off the field , and this would ave been a different outcome. IMO

Couldn't Understand...

Our third TD came at the end of a long drive. One of our best drives of the year. It include several designed runs by Pass, including the TD. That was in the second QTR. We never went back to that. Very puzzling to me because BC definitely had not prepared for.

Other things.

Loved the effort on the TD run by Cunningham. Kid fought really hard to get into the end zone.

Thought CJ Avery and Dorian Etheridge played really well on defense.

Team played hard until the last few minutes. Just too many mistakes to win.

Wildcard, his record.

Couldn’t find the thread, but you asked about his record against top 25 teams.

I’ll share this. Forget the top 25 for a minute. This, IMHO, is more telling of the true picture.

Taking out this year, as it’s not over yet.

He’s 22-1 against teams with a losing record. 18 of those wins against teams that won 4 games or less. Bad teams. Handful of subdivision and non power 5 teams in there.

He’s 12-17 against teams with a winning record. Decent to good teams. 8 of those wins though were against teams that finished 7-6, 4 needing bowl wins to get to 7. So they were essentially .500 teams. And 4 wins against teams with 8 or more wins. Solid to really good teams.

Of course, adding in 6 games TY won’t improve these results any, outside of Bama, but what does that really prove...

ESPN on Wake Forest game

ESPN odds on who wins.

Wake Forest 50.5%
Louisville 49.5%

This is year 5 of Bobby Ball 2.0 and we are not favored at home against The Demon Deacons? How can this backward slide be justified? Bobby needs to find a new program to kill! It is quite obvious, that he has lost his "MOJO"! We were a Top 25 program when he arrived. Now we are struggling not to finish 2-10. Plus we have not beaten one ACC or P5 team this year! And our attendance is rapidly declining. This is unacceptable coaching!
