The thing that's different about this

The thing that's different about this is that the Boss has had weeks and weeks to work out some options going forward. This thing turned into certified trash after the Oct 13 BC game. There's been ample time to line up options and to vet candidates and to set up changeover financing. The Boss will have had a total of 7 weeks after the disaster was nearly certain to make his plans. That's plenty of time. It's ample time for a good businessman.

It happened early enough to allow the Boss's development of a comprehensive replacement list and a fully thought-out way-forward chart with options and paths. And a full financing plan. And full guidance from attorneys. And plenty of time to socialize the thinking for the decisions and paths forward with Board and President and Big Boosters.

There will have been 49 days from the time the need for a decision was clear.

That's ample time.

Yahoo Report: Here comes the ncaa...

https://sports.yahoo.com/feds-give-...ols-tied-college-hoops-scandal-030502043.html

“The federal government has given the NCAA a nod of approval to begin looking into potential NCAA violations tied to certain schools implicated in the federal basketball investigation, according to multiple sources. This serves as the first step of what could be one of the broadest and most important investigations in the history of the NCAA’s enforcement division.”

Louisville, Kansas, and NCSt....

Time for a joint press conference...

with Bobby & Vince stating “it’s over for 2.0”, he’ll finish the season, amicable parting of the ways, put on the “good face”, etc.

Then Vince needs to meet with the team and tell the players to allow him to bring in a new coach. At that time if a player still wants to leave, then so be it. But Vince needs to sell not having to sit out and start over positives to the kids.

WBB Cards top Toppers 102-80

Great time in Bowling Green last night watching the Cards take WKU by 22. The big guy and his merry band of pranksters have a huge recap over at the CC site, "board" at your own risk. Jared and Paulie can get "wordy".

My five takeaways::

1) ON "THAT GIRL". Yes, Ms. Durr is an eighth wonder of the world. When the WKU players were asked about A.D. post-game, they just kind of shrugged their shoulders and said words to the effect of 'we couldn't find her or stop her'.. (Maybe she's added a cloaking device to her other many talents?)

2) Let THREE-DOM Ring. Asia's seven trifectas were so effortless. Arica Carter, who did not start but played 19 minutes with reckless abandon added four. Kylee and red-shirt freshman Lindsey Duvall cashed in on a couple as well. Stuff coming from the sky that rivaled the eclipse that rolled through Bowling Green a bit back.

3) They got a good one. Watch Alexis Brewer the rest of the year for the Toppers. Her 22 pts. included 12-16 free throws. This transfer-in from WVU has faced the Baylor's and Texas's of women's college basketball. Imagine what she'll do to Conference USA.

4) If you got 'em, play ,em. Walz did. All 12 that made the trip saw at least four minutes of action (Jess Laemmle) to 26 minutes (Jaz Jones). A good chance to see how the newcomers would fare and try different combos. And Walz did. I think the only one he didn't put on the court was... me, Paulie, Sam Purcell, Big Red and Nick Curran.

5) Replacing Myisha minutes. It looks like Yacine Diop garnered the most of those and she turned in a Myisha-like double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds. How that might change down the road is anyone's guess, but it's now perfectly clear why Walz wanted her for just one year..

W/L Record 2019 Season?

This season is a complete "bust", so I'm thinking about 2019 already.

Here's next season's schedule. Anyone wanna take a crack at guessing the team's final W/L record? With Petrino, Brohm or Mr X as Head Coach? Note there are 3 games already scheduled in September and it would not be surprising if 2 more September games were added, making for 5 total in September.

The 5 true AWAY games are all in Florida (Tallahassee & Miami Gardens) and North Carolina (Raleigh & Winston-Salem) and Kentucky (Lexington).

The WKU game on Sept 14 is effectively a Neutral game in Tennessee (Nashville).

So 8 games are easy to get to.

Louisville will play 10 P5 games plus one G5 game and one FCS game.

This will be the second-ever contest with Notre Dame and the first-ever played in Louisville.

Louisville will play in zero Northern-venue games.

9/2 vs Notre Dame (Monday)
9/7 vs Eastern Kentucky
vs Boston College
vs Clemson
vs Syracuse
vs Virginia
9/14 Western Kentucky (@ Nashville)
@ Florida State
@ NC State
@ Wake Forest
@ Miami (Fla)
11/30 @ Kentucky

The games which should produce a reasonable fan "draw" are Notre Dame, EKU and Clemson. There should be considerable single-game or 3-game-package interest in the Notre Dame game. Their fans alone will probably buy up to 15,000 or more tickets. EKU fans will buy a decent number of tickets as well. I imagine the ticket pricing will be innovative.

A lot of Louisville fans will travel to Nashville for the WKU game. Some might even be interested in the game.

The early and late signing dates as well as impact of further player defections will dominate the interest early-on of any staff that stays or takes over.
