This may be a silly question, but with all the recent discussion about the effectiveness of Nick Petrino (played QB through HS, right?) as QB coach, and the possibility that Brian Brohm )played QB in HS, college, and NFL) will be our next QB coach, I wonder if a former QB who becomes a QB coach can effectively coach a QB that has a completely different style of play.
Ugh, that's an ugly-worded question....let's try it like this...how effective do you think a QB coach who was a drop-back pocket passer can be in coaching a dual-threat QB like Lamar Jackson or Malik Cunningham? It seems to me that such a QB coach might have a hard time relating to, and therefore effectively coaching to, the strengths of his protege.
