I like SS's staff on paper. They know Fla. and South Fla well.

They know Ga. and Miss.well.Three of them are white guys who had to recruit at small Black Univ.
that takes a special talent. This staff had to get city kids to go to the rural area with no facts. Granted
they took a lot of what use to be called prop48's. quite a few end up in the NFL. But now they have fact.,equip.the ACC and fans to sell at higher level. I think they are to give C.Strong, Mia.and Fla. a run for their money with Lou.facts.and SS.

FB RECRUITING: JUCO DT eyeing Louisville with Satterfield news

6'2" 305lbs JUCO defensive tackle Dorail Walls told me that Louisville's coaching hire was "a big move" and that the Erie Community College prospect said if Satterfield re-evaluated his film and confirms the scholarship offer he's choosing Louisville.

I know the new staff will have a lot to evaluate and decide where scholarships need to be allocated to but I just wanted to give you all this bit of information to have in mind going forward at a position that was a major weakness the past couple years.

Job One (to borrow a phrase from Ford Motor Co.)

For our new coach will be to re-recruit some of our existing players and commits. CSS will also need to make an attempt to go after some of the local kids that have committed elsewhere. He has to get a number on how many of our existing kids are going to transfer so he can go out and recruit their replacements. Will this include some JUCO’s? Probably and I don’t have a problem with that. This will be the first spring game that I’ve been excited about in years. Of course filling his staff is also extremely important but something tells me that he already has several of those guys that will be coming with him.

Rankings

I looked at kenpom today since its supposed to be algorithm based rankings, but I'm just not seeing it. I know its early December and I usually don't give a *^%$ of any rankings until at least January, but no bad losses and 2 good wins. SOS is 23 and some of the teams well ahead of us with 1 and 2 losses haven't played a more difficult scheule as their SOS sumbers are way higher. I get not receiving ANY love in the voting polls as we are viewed as red-headed stepchildren, but it just seems we would be in the top 20-30 teams, thus far........we are 48.

Quick Note on Satterfield and Georgia Tech

I was told that Georgia Tech felt Satterfield was there any time while they kicked the tires on (literally) older candidates like Ken Whisenhunt but that after his initial contact with Louisville and Tyra he rebuffed a follow up request from Georgia Tech for a more formal meeting having already decided to pursue the Louisville job exclusively.

Good Read RE Satterfield

Great article that pretty much says it all. I have to admit that I was not an early adopter of the Satterfield selection but I’m all in. From everything I’ve read there is one huge box he checks...Intelligence!! This is a coach who is crafty in game scheming and in recruiting. Have to think the Governor’s cup will soon find a permanent home in Louisville based on this fact alone.
Not sure why, maybe foolish optimism, maybe coach search fatigue, maybe Brohm hangover...who knows, but I’m feeling really good about Scott (yep, time to start calling him that). Just think of this, Appy St. has competed with and put scares into some of the FBS big boys. Makes next season’s opener that much more interesting.
GO CARDS!!!! Looking forward to next season.

FB RECRUITING: Could JJ Weaver still be a possibility for Louisville?

This past Friday Moore High School 4-star prospect JJ Weaver announced his commitment to Kentucky. It had been known for some time before his announcement that UK was almost certainly going to be where he ended up. Even though most knew where he was leaning, Louisville AD Vince Tyra paid a visit to Weaver the day before his announcement and while it was not enough to convince him to change his mind in the short term, it may have made an impact on Weaver.

I spoke with a source that felt Louisville still could convince Weaver to flip before signing day and that Weaver had expressed interest to Vince Tyra on hearing from Louisville's next head coach. Overall it seems like Weaver could still be open to listening to Louisville's recruiting pitch by the new coaching staff before ultimately making his final decision to sign his letter of intent.

I'm not too sure that prying him away from UK would be easy by any means, but I think this bears at least keeping an eye on...

No Emotion, Just Factual Observation

I personally don’t give a rat’s ass about what Brohm chose. I didn’t before the decision either. What I do care about is bringing in a bad-ass coach and I’m not sure that was what we were going to be getting in Brohm.

Objectively speaking, Brohm was never worth 6 million, and I expect his future performance to bear that out. 6 million per is what you’d pay a championship level coach. Jumping into bed with Brohm at this ridiculous price would have crippled the program if he proved to be unsuccessful or mediocre (two distinct possibilities). Let’s go get someone on merit now instead of legacy. Who’s in?

Scott Satterfield is one of the hottest coaching names in the country. But what has made him so successful? CardinalSports.com reached out to a source who knows Satterfield well.

Brian McLawhorn covered Appalachian State and Scott Satterfield for more than a decade. We asked Brian what makes Satterfield so successful. His answers were fascinating.

So, are the Miami Hurricanes more ethical than "Vince"?...

My little mind ponders the imponderable sometimes...

How have we taken a big chuck of the moral high ground while playing a guy (VJ King) in a similar situation to one at Miami (Dewan Hernandez) who's been sidelined? Both are implicated in some secondary FBI/adidas evidence in the much publicized investigation.

Yet one plays and one doesn't. In fact, the guy playing didn't miss a game or was there much said about that school's investigation.

I guess they were too busy setting up "ethics" workshops...
