I think it has…definitely. If the Pope hire goes through as expected (and I don’t see how Barnhart can back out now without looking like he was turned down again or appearing to kick one of their own to the curb…you know, that despicable thing that UL did) then I like our chances A LOT going forward. Pope pales in every comparison to CPK. We now have energy, fan support, NIL money, coaching record, momentum and much, much more in our favor. The UK brand will, most likely, continue to recruit well…not Calipari-like recruiting, but good recruiting nonetheless. That’s really the only possible edge they might have and I’m not really ready to concede that at this point.

I think what people should be more open minded to is the reality that coaching hires in today’s world are nothing like they were 10-15 years ago.

The playing fields have been leveled and the next generation of great coaches are valuing comfort and familiarity much higher than the old school guys did.

Regardless of what anyone says today, Pope wasn’t in the top 8. Nets were casted pretty wide, and a lot of guys got behind the scenes inquiries through agents. No big time guys wanted that job. Most of the up and comers didn’t either. Speaks volumes honestly.

We got a high level coach. Time will tell if Pope becomes one.

Not surprised at all to see Ty-Laur Johnson hit the portal. I reported on Sunday that the two sides would be meeting in the next 24 hours, so the timing adds up.

I had heard several things coming out of PK’s initial meeting with the players still in town that led me to share the sentiment of ‘don’t hold your breathe’ on any guys returning and that is coming to fruition.

As far as BHH, between the NIL that would be required and him not really being a fit for what PK wants to do, I’m told there isn’t much of a push to keep BHH in the fold. At this time, I don’t expect Louisville to be his choice.

Another quick thing: I’m told by a source close to the situation that Kelsey is ‘seriously considering’ Peyton Siva for a spot on the staff.

Not sure how many on here know him, but we lost a die hard Cardinal fan in @OyyyeeeCorito86 last night. Not sure if he posted here under a handle, but keep his fam in your thoughts and prayers.
