NIL and how it Works

Hey I have a question for @Ty Spalding or the account that is connected with the 502 Circle. @EKYCard643 made a good point in another thread about how a school like UofL can keep up with NIL spending but I was already wondering that myself. How are schools supposed to sustain paying players XYZ amount of money if the schools are not a part of the funding. Does the 502 circle invest the money and the thought will be to pay players off the interest? Or is it solely based on donations from individuals and corporations? Thanks!

Jadon Thompson Ready For Comeback

"For me, it's really just now clicking," he said. "That's the good thing about it. I was hurt last year, so that kind of sent me back a little bit. I was able to watch and learn, and that's how I like to learn: by watching others do it. Right now, I feel like in the position that we're in now, like this is just now clicking. Now I know each position. Sometimes I might need to know the protection call. Especially this spring, it kind of lit a fire under me, like, 'yeah, you got this.'

Virginia series

Doesn't get any easier friends.
#11 Virginia rolls into town on the heels of last weekend's sweep vs NC St.

I thought the Cards and Wolfpack were fairly even and I'm guessing this series will be tight as well. We have no choice but to continue to take these series if there's a shot at getting into post season play. I think currently we're in the 90s somewhere RPI. Critical to say the least.

A little Rick rant

Login to view embedded media As someone who still loved Rick after he left, and was REALLY against the University for pushing him out… This hurts, I gotta stop rooting for St. John’s on the side. Their fans should be mad too, it’s like they’re Pitino’s wife and Kentucky is a stripper, yeah he’s “committed” to one of them, but that’s not going to stop him from flirting with the prettier ones.

Regardless of what school you’re doing it for, why would you cut an NIL check to anyone who could possibly challenge you for a national title, isn’t that Rick’s goal? Isn’t that Kentucky’s goal? It’s very clear what this is: a “**** you” to Louisville. That’s fine man, **** you too. Yeah it sucks Louisville pushed you out, but you could’ve retired then and there and set your family up for generations. Go ahead and be petty man, Tyra wasn’t, Heird hasn’t been, and Pat Kelsey most certainly wasn’t. You’ve gotten your flowers Rick, everyone jokes about Louisville firing you, you won, just retire and go cheer on Kentucky you home wrecking geyser.

I let all the other stuff like hanging out in KY slide, but doing a video and cutting a check for Kentucky, and not once shouting out Peyton Siva, gtfo

UK job

Sounding like it’s gonna be Drew or Hurley. Posting this because I think it’s very very important we keep contributing and even upping our NIL contributions. They are going to be in the market for a ton of players like us and need to be competitive in offers. As you all know I’ve been hesitant on PK but he needs our support right now. Gonna be a very bad look for us and him if we’re getting beat for players in his first offseason by whichever coach they get. Time for us to make a statement.

Couple thoughts on transfers

Something to keep in mind. Generally, the kids transferring “up”, non P5, etc…, most were lower rated and didn’t get to experience the full recruiting landscape of major visits and what that felt like. In many cases, these kids take most of the visits they can.

The kids that were highly ranked, and are grad students, they generally don’t want it and will visit where they intend to go and call it a day.

Secondly, during these visits, they’re generally spending most of their tours with asst coaches and players. The HC is rarely around. They meet 1:1 and then with the parents, but generally it’s minimal.

The point, I wouldn’t think much into it as some of these kids leave without committing right away.

Obviously we’re unique right now not having a roster, but it’s great to see PK role his sleeves up and lead the visits with these guys. It’s a work ethic detail that shouldn’t go unnoticed. Going to pay off for us.

HVL where?

No news on where HVL is going to next everyone thought she was looking to be on a team that could challenge for a title. However rumor has it is she is going to visit Sam Purcell at Mississippi State. If that is the case she is not looking for a title contender but just some place to get her stats back up to where they were when she was at Louisville. MSU is going to be in somewhat of a rebuilding phase next season, Louisville could have a really good team next year with what they have coming back and what they have coming in. Way to early basketball rankings has Louisville ranked 12th. If Jeff can work his magic and get Louisville into the Final Four which will be held in Louisville we have a shot. Wouldn’t that be Karma in a big way?
