Mick Cronin - References Louisville and Lack of Respect for AAC

"People underestimated us this year, and I don't think that was really fair to my players or to my program," Cronin told me. "I would say the same for Houston. We've still been disrespected nationally. We've got teams with nine losses that are ranked. I don't understand it." - Mick Cronin

I would assume Mick was referring to two weeks ago Louisville was 18-8 and ranked #18 and Wisconsin was 17-8 and ranked #22 while UC was unranked. The Cards and Badgers had the most losses in the poll (8) and were ranked.

Strippergate - Part Deux

Georgia Tech has been served by the NCAA with a notice of allegations regarding alleged recruiting violations committed by former assistant basketball coach Darryl LaBarrie and Ron Bell, the former friend of coach Josh Pastner. LaBarrie took a prospect on an official visit and a team member to a strip club and facilitated an improper recruiting contact with a person described in the notice as a representative of the school’s athletics interest. It also found that the prospect and team member were provided by $300 cash.

Don't they know that if you host your own strippers in a dorm it's much cheaper?

One and only complaint I have ever had...

I think CDM leaves his pitchers in too long. This has haunted him in the past and today, vs UM, it has hurt us again. Luke, although pitching well today, heads into the 7th inning. One must be aware he is going to start getting tired. Why would you already have someone ready? Now, 3 runs are in with 1 out and finally a change is made. After the first hit, which was absolutely ripped, someone was needed to come in. Give the starter one more batter but that’s it. Hope our guys hit the dang ball and get some more runs.

Seems new regime learned many "valuable" lessons from the old one...

Tail no longer wags the dog with the new department. Interesting that the previous group ever let that happen - particularly since that "tail" had already poked them in the eye twice. Pretty negligent IMO.

Mick Cronin on Grad Transfers

Cincinnati is also one of the few schools that has not taken a fifth-year grad transfer since Cronin's been there. His philosophy on the trend runs counter to most.

"I really hope I never have to, because that means you're really desperate at a position," Cronin said. "And if you do walk down that alley, you bring that fifth-year guy in, he plays and your freshman that you told you loved him, comes in -- he signed early. The other guy, you signed him in May. Now you play the fifth-year guy, the freshman gets pissed off. The fifth-year guy graduates, the freshman transfers. And I'm just going to tell you, it's happened to a lot of guys, and it's a vicious cycle."

Charlie Freakin Brown...

This team makes me feel like Charlie Brown. I'm Charlie, the Cards are Lucy! They keep yanking that football away from me.

Quick observations:

* Talent is lacking to beat the big boys this season
* Again our depth is a killer
* Our team has terribly low basketball IQ
* Too many empty possessions without so much as a field goal attempt
* Fall in love all you want with Nwora's stat line but I am frustrated by him. He is a turnover waiting to happen when he puts the ball on the floor. I'm also fairly certain that two huge offensive rebounds by Virginia around the 6-8 min mark were due to him not blocking out. He's also a lazy defender. He easily gives back half his points most games IMO.

Gawd, I cannot stand Virginia. We'll get them soon.

Tennessee WBB Job

Sullivan posted a link on twitter of the Knoxville newspaper calling for the Tennessee WBB coach to be fired. Followed by Jeff Walz obviously being named a candidate for such a high profile program, but further went into why Walz would or should seriously considerate it this time, and may be wooed enough to take it. Is this something to keep a close eye on?

FB RECRUITING: Belfry ATH Ben Bentley talks Louisville interest, recruitment

While Louisville fans are fully aware of starting offensive lineman Cole Bentley, some may not be following Cole's younger brother Ben Bentley, a member for the class of 2020. The Belfry (KY) prospect visited Louisville this past week and was hoping to watch his older brother in the Spring Showcase but ended up going home early when the Bentley's found out that Cole wasn't going to be able to participate. While he hasn't heard from any position coaches yet, Bentley did say that Pete Nochta has reached out to him and extended an invite.

"Pete is who invited me down so I could meet the new coaches", Bentley stated. " just have to get in front of them this summer at a camp".

So how interested is Bentley in Louisville and could playing in his older brother's shadow be a drawback?

"I like it so far, I’m not so much worried about being a shadow with how we play different positions. As far as set on trying to get in one place or anything I’m still completely open. I went to EKU already and have Virginia and possibly Kentucky left" Bentley said. "I mean I would love to play for the program just because I believe it’s on the way back up with this new staff. I just want to be comfortable where I go and a lot truly matters on who shows me the most love. I know I can play at any level of college just because I will outwork everyone to get where I want or to where I can play. So I just have to try to get in better contact with Louisville and build a relationship with the coaches.

While most schools have been looking at the 6'0" 190lbs athlete as a running back/slot receiver, Eastern Kentucky likes Bentley at safety. Over the past two seasons Bentley has recorded over 150 tackles and has 5 interceptions.

Even though Bentley is interested in Louisville and is wanting the Cardinals to recruit him, the Belfry prospect says that a couple schools do currently have an advantage.

"The schools who I stay in constant contact with right now would be Virginia and EKU and in the end that will be something I take into big consideration even those are two completely different size schools just because they are sort of taking the first risk and showing hope in me" remarked Bentley.
