Detmers named ACC Pitcher of the Week.

D0RsVjYWwAEcQzi.jpg

Louisville’s Detmers tossed seven no-hit innings in Friday night’s series opener against Brown to set the tone for the Cardinals’ three-game sweep. The Chatham, Illinois, native allowed just one baserunner (a walk) in the 22 batters he faced and set a career high with 11 strikeouts.

Detmers mowed down the first 16 batters he faced before issuing a one-out walk in the sixth inning. The southpaw struck out the side in the second and fourth innings during a stretch of eight strikeouts in nine hitters.

Hoop Trial Sentencing and Pitino Comment

Gatto received a 9-month sentence while Dawkins and Code received 6-month sentences. Less than recommendations so they likely sang like songbirds.

Judge Kaplan: Notes that the defendants were trying to cover Pitino's tracks "to the extent that they could" and give ex-Louisville coach "plausible deniability."

PUMA

Didn't go to the practice but listening to Coach he seemed very happy with Puma
He mentioned his throwing and his running ability he say the key to the offense is no turnovers
IF I was guessing I will say number 4 will be out there starting for us against the Irish
Just think Cunningham is to much running all the time

Position changes on the Louisville roster

It looks like they have updated the Louisville football roster on GoCards.com and while there aren't any changes made to the heights/weight, there are a few position changes to note. A few of these have been rumored or known about but this makes those changes a little more official.

Robert Hicks - LB to DL
CJ Avery - OLB to ILB
Rodjay Burns - CB to OLB (will be more of a hybrid LB/DB from my understanding)
Malik Staples - RB to LB
Gary McCrae - DE to LB

Kash Daniel...

Social media (Twitter) is insinuating that there is a controversy of some kind (possible destruction of property, assault of a female, etc.).

Yet, he practiced yesterday, no mention or questions from any (so called) reporters at the Doughboy’s press conference yesterday? No Courier-Journal bashing of the kitty football program’s decision to allow him to participate in spring practice?

Amazing, truly amazing.

Thought I was on the football board. Apologies.

Just got back...

other than Colin Wilson showing me (again) he is a good RB and sitting in a light snowfall for a "spring game" I just don't know what I saw. Yes, some good plays here and there, but overall?

I'm not saying it was "bad"; I'm just saying that I don't know what I saw. New coach, new schemes; new drills, new formats, etc. If you were in the 300 or so other fans that were there (seriously, maybe 1,000?) help me out, tell me what you saw. :D

Peace

Any of you Louisville area high school basketball fans

Know these guys.
Jayden Scrubb Trinity
David Sloan 22 Foot Academy
Clivante Patterson Ballard

I work over in Southern Illinois and they are having the District 16 NJCAA Tournament at Rend Lake College which is in the little town I stay in.. Those 3 guys play for JUCO here John A Logan college. All 3 are players can play but Scrubb has D1 written all over him. Just curious if anyone knows what the story is on him..?

Meanwhile in Nashville

Not sure if anyone has noticed but Vanderbilt is having a truly unremarkable basketball season!

They are 0-17 in the SEC riding an 18-game losing streak. They are almost guaranteed another loss as their final regular season game is at #10 LSU.

Their coach is Bryce Drew, who was considered an up and coming star. Having coached five seasons at Valpo, finishing 1st in the conference 4 out of 5 years.

Vanderbilt has historically had competitive basketball year in and out. To see such a train wreck of a season is really surprising.

Trying to figure out the 11 ACC bowl tie-ins and hierarchy

Pulled this from a thread on an ACC board, but with the new bowl announcements recently, I wondered what that actually would mean. So here's a stab at what it will look like, by payout:

1. Playoff

2. Orange vs BIG, SEC, ND
2b. Outback vs SEC (When BIG is in the OB)

3. Camping vs B12

4-8.
Belk vs BIG/SEC
Gator vs SEC
Holiday vs PAC12
Pinstripe vs BIG
Sun vs PAC 12

9-11.
Military vs AAC
Detroit vs BIG
Independence vs SEC

Given some of our expectations next year ... we could be in San Fran, Detroit, or Shreveport next year. Hopefully ... or should I say " hopefully? " ... lol

Prediction time...

Let's have a little wager (no funds involved - just bragging rights). We're currently 11 games in, sitting at 8-3. Before the ACC Tournament we will have played 31 games. What will our record be? You don't have to name individual wins and losses, just our record prior to the ACC Tournament beginning. I'll go with a record of 21-10. That's as optimistic as I can be, hope it's better but the schedule is a killer!

Beetle Bolden...

Bolden has left the team at WVU and will be a grad transfer per Huggins. He was not kicked off their team but chose to leave after an injury plagued season.

Don’t know much about him but he has decent stats and plays point guard. He’s from Covington, Ky. If he is worth pursuing we should have an “in” with our current strength coach having been at WVU.

I would also think CC’s success would make our program attractive to a grad transfer point guard. If not Bolden, hopefully one this spring.

College Football Bowl Game Changes to Begin in 2020

Brett McMurphy

Beginning in 2020, the Las Vegas Bowl will annually feature a team from the Pac-12 against a team from the SEC or Big Ten, and a new bowl in Los Angeles will feature the Pac-12 against the Mountain West, sources told Stadium.

Other changes: The ACC will add the Holiday Bowl, the SEC and Big Ten will rotate between the Las Vegas and the Belk bowls, and the Outback Bowl will feature an ACC team if a Big Ten team is in the Orange Bowl, sources said.

The new conference tie-ins are expected to become official by May, when the NCAA’s new bowl cycle, from 2020-25, is formally announced.

Changes for the new bowl cycle starting in 2020, sources told Stadium, include:

The Las Vegas Bowl
In 2020, the Las Vegas Bowl moves from UNLV’s Sam Boyd Stadium to the new Las Vegas NFL stadium. In the course of the six-year deal, the SEC and Big Ten will each make three appearances against the Pac-12 in the Las Vegas Bowl. It’s expected to be either the third or fourth Pac-12 team after the Rose and Alamo Bowls are filled. It’s unknown what selection the SEC and Big Ten would send from their respective conference.

This will mark the first Pac-12 and SEC non-playoff bowl matchup since the 1989 Freedom Bowl. The Pac-12 currently plays bowl games against each of the Power 5 conferences except for the SEC. The two conferences have played in only nine non-College Football Playoff/New Year’s 6 bowls.

The Belk Bowl
The Charlotte-based bowl will rotate an SEC or Big Ten team, based on which league is in the Las Vegas Bowl. The Charlotte Bowl annually will feature an ACC team between 2020-25 against either an SEC or Big Ten team, with each league making three appearances. If an SEC team is in Las Vegas, a Big Ten team will be in Charlotte, and vice versa.

The new Los Angeles Bowl at Los Angeles Stadium at Hollywood Park
The new LA bowl will feature the Pac-12 against the Mountain West. This is basically the old Las Vegas Bowl matchup with the bowl getting the first selection from the Mountain West against a Pac-12 team. The Los Angeles Stadium at Hollywood Park opens in 2020 and will also host the 2023 College Football Playoff title game. This bowl is huge for the Mountain West, especially after its 19-year tie-in with the Las Vegas Bowl ends after this season.

The Holiday Bowl
With the Big Ten playing in Las Vegas and Belk, the Big Ten will not be affiliated with the Holiday Bowl after 2019 and will be replaced by the ACC. The San Diego-based bowl will feature the Pac-12 against the ACC from 2020-25.

The Gator Bowl
Starting in 2020, the Jacksonville-based bowl will feature an ACC vs. SEC matchup each season.

The Music City Bowl
Starting in 2020, the Nashville-based bowl will feature an SEC vs. Big Ten matchup each season.

The Outback Bowl
The Tampa-based bowl will still feature an SEC vs. Big Ten matchup, as it has since 1995. However, starting in 2020, when a Big Ten team earns a berth to the Orange Bowl, an ACC team will take the Big Ten’s place in the Outback Bowl. This arrangement previously was with the Citrus Bowl.

The Arizona Bowl
This year will mark the Sun Belt’s final season in the Arizona bowl. Starting in 2020, the Tucson-based bowl will pit the Mountain West against the Mid-American Conference.

The Myrtle Beach Bowl
The new bowl created by ESPN begins in 2020 and will feature teams from Conference USA, the Mid-American and Sun Belt. Each conference will play four times between 2020-25.

Starting with the new bowl cycle in 2020, here are the guaranteed minimum bowl tie-ins per conference (not including any teams that appear in the College Football Playoff):

ACC, SEC – 11
Big Ten – 9
Pac-12 – 8
Big 12 – 7
American – 7
Conference USA – 7
Mid-American – 6
Mountain West – 6
Sun Belt – 5

Army & BYU each can secure its own automatic bowl tie-in, but the remaining independents (Liberty, UMass and New Mexico State) must hope for an at-large spot from a conference that can’t fill all of its allotments in a specific year. Notre Dame remains part of the ACC’s bowl lineup if the Irish don’t qualify for a College Football Playoff or New Year’s 6 Bowl berth.

Eric Crawford piece on Satterfield ... nice read.

https://www.wdrb.com/sports/crawfor...OfyzBzVh47QueojDwga6-y1odr8FHrW2_EHhSWVVSp2-E

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Scott Satterfield doesn't have much "sitting around" time. The new University of Louisville football coach went from introductory news conference to hiring a staff to recruiting (winter and spring) and straight into spring football.

Spring break like be more like spring hibernation -- well, with recruiting thrown in.

He's tackled it all with a smile on his face, as he did on Sunday afternoon while signing autographs for fans in the KFC Yum! Center before the Cardinals' home basketball finale against Notre Dame.

"It's been awesome," Satterfield said of the overloaded schedule. "That's been the way we planned it out, to go from recruiting to spring practice, and we'll catch a break on spring break. But really recruiting never stops. We'll be recruiting every day of the year. We have recruits here at this game today."

Louisville wraps up spring practice this week. It's been a lot of evaluation for Louisville's staff, teaching new schemes, establishing new expectations. There has been some progress.

But the one thing Satterfield says he has been pleased to find is a receptive group of players, one that has been eager to get back to work, and to winning.

"Just their eagerness and willingness just to listen and to be coached, that was very encouraging for myself and my staff," Satterfield. said. "Then we've got some talent out there. We've got a lot of work to do, we know that. But it's going to be fun because these guys are hungry and willing to work, and when you've got that you're going to continue to get better every, single day. Hopefully by the time the season starts we'll have a good product to put on the field."

On Thursday at 7, Louisville will conclude its spring workouts with a public practice in Cardinal Stadium. What will be on display will be far from a finished product, but more the beginning. But fans will get a chance to see what work has been done so far.

"I just think they'll see a bunch of guys who are going to play hard," Satterfield said. "There are going to be some things that might not look great on Thursday, but it's practice. We've got a lot of things we're trying to get done. But just the eagerness and energy you'll see I think will be the biggest thing. . . . It's been a great transition here for these 12 practices, and we're going to finish out strong. . . . I'm just excited about working with these guys. They've got a lot to offer. Our staff is going to pour everything we have into them and I think we're going to get a lot out of that."

Satterfield signed autographs and posed for pictures for about an hour for an enthusiastic crowd. He hasn't had a ton of time to get out and meet people, but whenever he has, he said he's been warmed by the response.

"It's been open arms," he said. "The city of Louisville is a great city and everyone has been so welcoming to myself, my family and my staff. We really appreciate that. It's going to take all of us to get this program up and running again at a high level, which we all know it's capable of. It's going to take all of us and we've got a great place to do it here in Louisville."

David Johnson is special as Trinity goes to State Tournament

Johnson is the sort of talent that Jefferson Co does not see very often. Ballard literally face-guarded David the entire game as a way to make someone else on Trinity’s team beat them ...... Rocks did just that rather decisively.

Chris Renner (Ballard’s coach) is good, and he had so much respect for Johnson that he decided that beating Trinity required denying Johnson any offensive half court touches. Sabo (Trinity coach) reported that David allowed himself to play the role of an effective decoy the entire game, which allowed Trinity a 3 on 4 offensive advantage in the half court. UL opponents will not have that luxury next year.
