I expect we will hear the deal is done in the next 24 hours.

Louisville will need to call a meeting of the UofL Athletic Association Board who will need approve the contract of the new coach before the hire is officially announced.

If word of the deal comes out today then they could have that ULAA meeting tomorrow.

On ULAA Board meetings, I believe they need 24 hours notice, but I am not certain on that (perhaps they can put people on notice and then cancel it later? I guess?)

So I am hoping to hear of a ULAA Board Meeting announcement sometime this afternoon which would indicate a deal is done/almost done and we could see a new coach tomorrow.

If the ULAA Board Meeting isn't announced until tomorrow, then new coach may be Wednesday.

Either way, they can bring Satterfield out at the basketball game on Wednesday night.

** 4 PM UPDATE **
We called it. At 4 pm Louisville announced a 4 pm Tuesday meeting of the ULAA Board.

They will be approving the contract terms of the new football coach.

WBB 107 - Tennessee St. 52

(Notes made while waiting for UofL to name a football Coach...)

An easy-as-expected 55-point win yesterday for Louisville WBB against the Tigers. Walz played them all, they all played well and for at least 10 minutes each. And, Jess hit a three and Lindsey bucketed three threes! I love those two!

For misinterpretations, impressive runs, breaking the law and AC/DC references, let's jump (as high as Jazz Jones!) to:

FIVE THINGS ABOUT THIS GAME

1) You Shook me all night long. Sorry about the AC/DC steal, but Kylee Shook put together one heck of a 20 minutes yesterday. Eight blocks, 14 rebounds, eight points and just one turnover for the Colorado junior. Last seen, she was gift-wrapping Jeff Walz's Christmas presents, preparing the next media buffet and swatting any low-flying aircraft approaching Bowman Field. I thought highly of Kylee's efforts Sunday. (Poet and don't know it, right?)

2) A new "3" Threat. Lindsey Duvall has a long range game. She knocked down three bombs yesterday and all seven of the attempts looked like they were headed in. Sydney who? Coach Walz complimented her spring-summer-fall dedication to trying to perfect the art of "long shot success" and she led the team in threes made. Negotiations currently underway for her to swap jerseys with Sam Fuehring so she can have the matching "3" number to go with her game. "Duvall three ball ! "

3) Back in the YUM! Alvin Sims was one of my favorite players from that era of Louisville men's basketball. He now has a daughter who is college age and plays for Tennessee State. Asia Sims saw 30 minutes at guard with five points, six turnovers, two assists and one "three" made. She's got Dad's smile, same style of aggressive play and got to accomplish what Dad never had the chance to...play on the Denny Crum Court floor in the KFC YUM! Center. Alvin and the Chipmunks -- oops! family --- were all-smiles behind the Tiger bench watching and cheering.

4) Leading the criminal life. Don't be surprised if you see the Cardinal team photo posted in the Mayberry, RFD post office. The Cards had 19 steals and that's 30 pilfers over the last two games.
Colombo, Matlock, NCIS, and Criminal Minds have all been retained by the NCAA to investigate. I'm pretty sure I heard TSN head coach Jessica Kern yelling "Citizen's Arrest, Citizen's Arrest !!" each time Arica Carter or Jazmine Jones ran by her.

5) Oops! Late in the game, Jess Laemmle was applying defensive pressure on the sidelines close to us on media row. She was shouting while guarding. I swear she was yelling "Gobble, gobble, gobble." but Paulie explained to me, after chuckling for awhile, that she was calling for a "double, double, double" on the trap. And here I was, all impressed with Jess's extended, post Thanksgiving holiday spirit and her fine turkey impression. To make matters worse, Paulie ratted me out when he walked by her after the game. At least the misinterpretation got a big smile out of her and Asia Durr. Comic relief Sonja, yep, that's me.

How cool is it seeing Bill Murray at the basketball games?

One of my favorite comedy actors of all time is Bill Murray. Seeing him behind the UofL bench is so freaking cool to me. I wonder how many of the players know who he is and just how big a star he really is?

Saturday Night Live
Ed Wood
Meatballs
CaddyShack
Stripes
Ghostbusters
Scrooged
What about Bob?
Groundhog Day.
Kingpin

I mean the list goes on and on. My favorite was his cameo in Zombieland. He is a very gifted actor. Glad he is now a member of the Cardinals family.

Here's the Football Scoop report about Matt Canada

Update> Source tells FootballScoop Matt Canada is speaking with Tyra today. Canada earned accolades from some for the way he held things together at Maryland this season.

Prior to joining Maryland’s staff as offensive coordinator for DJ Durkin, Canada had spent one year as LSU’s offensive coordinator, one year at Pitt’s, 3 seasons as NC State’s, one as Wisconsin’s, one at Northern Illinois, etc…

** Monday Quick hits: Where things stand

** Monday Quick hits: Where things stand

- Louisville is zeroing in on its next coach. i agree with FootballScoop that it could happen today.

- But I also thought it may happen yesterday, so we will see.

- Football Scoop also reported that Louisville will interview Maryland interim coach Matt Canada today. I'm not sure about that (not a name I had previously heard for here), but FS typically has good sources so maybe.

- I put together a quick rundown of Canada: What You Need to Know - https://louisville.rivals.com/news/matt-canada-here-s-what-you-need-to-know

- That said, I was just on 840 WHAS with Leland Conway and I told him that I believe Scott Satterfield is still the top candidate and should be the top candidate.

** 11:00 AM UPDATE
- I keep going back to Tyra talking about what he is looking for in a coach when he was on with Paul Rogers and I on 790 KRD Thursday morning.

- Tyra said he wanted a coach who runs an exciting brand of offense, has shown the ability to build a program or if never a head coach, be an assistant at a championship level, understands discipline and can implement it, can build a positive culture.

- The word from Football Scoop is that there are other candidates who also "check off all the boxes"

- Perhaps I don't know enough about him, but Canada doesn't really do that. Can he build a program? We don't know. He's never done that. Has he been an assistant at a championship level? No.

** Update at 11:30 - This tweet is interesting...

The Football Scoop report

Sources tell FootballScoop Tyra had a strong interest in getting to know App State head coach Scott Satterfield. Satt’s squad had a conference championship game coming Saturday, so the meeting was scheduled for after. App State took care of business vs Louisiana Lafayette, adding another Sun Belt title to the trophy case in Boone. Thereafter, sources tell FootballScoop Satterfield did meet with Louisville officials.

However, over the past few days, agents have been registering their clients’ interest with Tyra and some have impressed. Sources tell FootballScoop, Tyra has a meeting today with another candidate who he feels also checks all the right boxes to become the next head coach at Louisville should he get the right feel from him individually. A source familiar with Tyra’s thinking tells FootballScoop, “Vince believes he will have his next head coach later today.”
