** 2 pm UPDATE...
- I still like what I am hearing - let's see what the Sun Belt title game brings, but it sounds like the interview will take place tomorrow instead of tonight.
- That actually makes more sense, but I know Louisville would love to get things done quickly.
- I was told by someone familiar with Satterfield that Satterfield believes Louisville's top two candidates are Satterfield and Neal Brown.
That said, here is the rest of the post from earlier today...
9 AM Post
- It could be a massive day for the future of Louisville Athletics. A couple of items to watch today...
- First, of course, Louisville takes on Seton Hall at noon today. A win there - against a likely tournament team on the road - means that this Louisville team is on the right track and that the Michigan State game was not a fluke of home court advantage, etc...
- If Louisville wins today, it'll give them two Top 55 KenPom wins, one Top 10 and Seton Hall No. 54. They had zero Top 25 KenPom wins last season and only 6 wins in the Top 55.
- Alright, now that the 'thread preview' is done...on to the main course.
- Also at Noon today: Scott Satterfield's Appalachian State take on Louisiana today for the Sun Belt title.
- Tyra is scheduled to interview Scott Satterfield of Appalachian State tonight.
- Louisville waited until after the championship, but it won't be long after.
“I’ve told my representation that, ‘Hey I’m not talking to anybody until my season is over, you know, because we’re competing for championships,’ ” Satterfield said. “I think that any school that would want to have interest in me would respect that. We’re trying to play for a championship. And if they didn’t respect that, then I probably wouldn’t talk to them anyway.”
- There have been other interviews and a lot of other contact, but he has emerged as the top candidate.
- Here is what Satterfield says about possible interviews:
“I think I owe it to myself and my family to take a look,” Satterfield said. “And I’ve always said I’ll listen. I’ll listen to see what people have to say. And if there is interest on their part, we’ll see where it’s at. If it’s going to benefit our family and is a situation we feel like we can have success, then that’s something we’ll take serious. And if not, we’ll move on and continue to build a powerhouse here at Appalachian State.”
- If everything goes well with the interviews tonight, it would not shock me at all for Louisville fans to hear word on Sunday and official announcement Monday.
- There are other candidates, but I think Tyra LOVES what he has seen and heard from Satterfield so far.
