Besides DJ Wagner I have no idea who is on Uks team. I guess it doesn't really matter much though.

Is it just me or is the fact that UofL Men's Basketball is advertising a red-out for this game completely tone deaf? I'm probably nitpicking here, but when the crowd at this game will obviously be a hell of a lot more blue than red, why the hell do something that will just call out that fact? Sometimes it seems like we deserve everything that we get. Who the hell decided this was a good idea?

I get what you’re saying, but the more straightforward viewpoint in my opinion is that it’s a call for all UofL fans to put aside the disappointment with Coach Payne, buy a ticket, show up and wear red.

You could be right, but I believe they should be able to see what is going to happen. The pulse of the fanbase seems to be pretty clear cut right now. I'd love to see us with 10k+ in red, but I just don't see it happening.

After last game, I think Cards will play hard but it just won't be nearly enough. BHH will have to keep playing like he has been but if/when he gets in foul trouble the Cards are in trouble inside as Evans just isn't ready and Okorafor is still too green.

Skyy and Johnson will have to play solid as well and get help from White, James, and hopefully one or two others. However I see the Cards poor defense just unable to get stops or prevent Uk from getting in the lane which ultimately leads to then getting overwhelmed.

This UK team is very, very good.

If you were drafting players from both schools I think you'd probably pick at least 7 UK players before you'd pick anyone from UofL. UK's schedule has been a million % more difficult than UofL's and they've played 1 less game and just Reeves and Shepherd have made as many 3s as UofLs entire team. They're shooting almost 41% from 3 as a team.

They have 4 players with 35+ assists.
We have 1.
Just Ty-Laur, Sky and Tre have almost as many turnovers as their entire team. Again - 1 less game, much better schedule.

We have two players hitting over 45% of their shots.
UK has 7.

UKs 6th man in minutes played is Rob Dillingham. 14 ppg, 4 rpg, 4.5 apg, 46% 3 point shooter

UK - 88
UofL - 67

Thanks for the stats. That....doesn't sound good at all for the Cards. If shots aren't falling, the Cards keep making turnovers, etc. the game could turn into a 40 point blowout.

Any chance UK plays zone against the Cards? Do they even need to?
Cal notoriously hates zone but I have no clue why anyone would play anything else against this team. They've never shown the ability to run an actual well orchestrated offense.

I said all off season - sag off, keep everything in front of you.
- This UofL team has nobody with the skill, speed and ability to consistently take their man and get to the rim.
- They don't have the patience or the IQ to run an orchestrated offensive set.
- They don't have the 3 point shooters to break the zone.
- They don't have the jump shooters to make you pay when they "settle."
- UofL doesn't have the talent to consistently finish at the rim even when they do get by a defender.

Keep UofL in front of you. Force them into jumpers and 3s and we're helpless to counter it.

On defense UofL has the length but not the speed and defensive cohesion to utilize it. No real rim protectors. With the speed and ability of Wagner and Dillingham and the shooting/basketball IQ of Reeves and Shepherd those 4 should have a field day.

This doesn't even factor in Bradshaw, Edwards and Mitchell - all 3 of which are as good or better than anyone UofL has.

I say this will all honesty - I think UK could win this game by double digits even if they didn't have 3 of their top 8 players.

Why? That just makes UK fans think we’re really concerned about the beat down their about to put on us! At this point I would rather no one showed up like we didn’t even know a game was be played! I don’t want to do anything to enhance a UK fans day!

You (and I) may feel that way, but UofL is certainly not going to put out a release to the media saying “please stay away from our home game against UK”. Without a doubt, they are going to encourage ticket sales any way they can. And in encouraging UofL fans to buy tickets and show up, they are also sending that message out to everyone, including UK fans, who will love nothing more than to buy their own tickets and spoil UofL’s “red out”.

Anyone who has watched this UK team (and the Cards as well) play this year knows that UK could easily open this game up and win by 20+, but I don't think that's what we are going to see.

Putting my basketball analysis, acumen, and knowledge to the side—as small, bad, meaningless, and worthless as that is... I think this game is going to be much closer than most think and not because Cal "takes it easy" on KP. I may be wrong, and we get the beatdown that most are expecting in the Yum Center, filled with predominantly UK fans. It just feels like this thing may be setting up to get even more awkward. If Louisville somehow wins this game... we've all seen crazier things in sports and in this series.

In order for the Cards to win (stop laughing), we will need to see them do something we have not seen in the KP era and that's play smart, solid, high-intensity basketball both offensively and defensively for 40 minutes. Another good shooting night from the Cards? A tall order. Unfortunately, this is not Pepperdine.

As well as UK plays offensively, it's their defense and how the Cards like to do everything (a lot anyway) off the dribble and goofy unforced turnovers that concern me. Obviously, their inability to consistently stay locked in on defense is a concern. I do think we will see Cal mix in some zone at times as well. I will be looking to see how and if the Cards are able to take and beat UK off the dribble and draw fouls as that seems to be their primary offense. It's going to be difficult, especially if they do not move the ball well.

Offensively, Dillingham and Sheppard are my two likeliest candidates to have big games for UK. There will be no outcome on Thursday that will surprise me.

Every one of their players can beat every one of ours off the dribble. I think DePaul had 17 layups. Not expecting anything different on Thursday, just more so. Offensively the only way we stay close is going to the line alot, making the free throws and slowing the game down. Not going to be enough horses for the good guys 87-62. And that is being kind.

UofL is absolutely encouraging UofL fans to buy tickets but as a fan; why would we? As a fan does anyone care if the Yum is filled w/UK fans on Thursday? I’m not.

Playing for Louisville is a two way relationship between the fans and the team and between the team and the coaches. Clearly this staff is terrible but what’s also clear is that this team doesn’t stay engaged, energized, and go hard for 40 minutes either. You don’t lose to Chattanooga, DePaul and Arkansas State with only bad coaching.

After the last 3 years why would any fan spend their money to support this program right now? Out of some imaginary “rule of fan hood?” F that.

I’m not saying you’re saying we should buy tickets. Only arguing that fans shouldn’t feel obligated to buy tickets to the current shit show that they don’t support just because they used to support it.

Also the Red Out is embarrassing. It’s going to be an absolute disaster. I would wager there will be more blue than red in the arena.

The seats are red. So that's what they're counting on. A lot of empty seats.

Again, they know UofL fans aren't showing up for this. The seats are already red. Let's make it a red out! It's a trick. Don't fall for it.

There's been so much cringe since Kenny took this job. I imagine anything he says is going to be rough.

I think I'll just pass on all of this, and get the info from you guys.

I think it did open around 15😬
Not crazy about that. If the whistles go our way😅 and we make 75% of our 3s😆 we could cover. Lol,I can't remember ever being as relaxed going into this game.
The Cards literally have nothing to lose.

I have never bet money against Louisville in my life, but this spread is way too low. If I still had a $50 bonus bet on ESPN Sportsbook, I would probably for the first time bet against the Cards.

I would of course still pull for Louisville sacrificing the free bonus bet. I think there's going to be a lot of eager UK fans placing bets with that line. I know I would.

Sadly, I see the Cards losing.

UK 81
UofL 58

On paper maybe but in the real world a beat down by your most hated rival, in front of a crowd that is a majority of their fans in your arena, would be the cherry on top of the shit sundae that Payne has served up.

As bad as some of the dozens of losses have been, for any fans not completely numb to the situation, this could be the death blow. They have plenty to lose - by the manner of how they lose…
