Power 5 reaching a tipping point. Breaking away becoming more of a reality?

The votes are taken by conference. Within the conference, a supermajority is required. The ACC originally required 7 of 9 votes for approval of a measure. (I'm not sure what it is now. ) It takes fewer schools to block a measure due to the supermajority requirements.

Power 5 reaching a tipping point. Breaking away becoming more of a reality?

Schools inside the P5 would vote against it too. Duke, Wake Forest, Vanderbilt, Stanford, Northwestern, Baylor, etc.

Dawgs Take A Dump - SC 20 UGA 17 Final OT

There are no computers in the playoff system. The CFP rankings are strictly done by the members (12 I think?) of the CFP committee. There are no computers involved at all.

    Pay for.play

The NCAA doesn't make money off football. All the television contracts for the regular season are with the conferences and schools. The NCAA doesn't see a dime of that money. They also don't see any money from bowl games. The bowls are independent organizations. The NCAA doesn't get money from...

    Expansion cut by 6,000 seats????

I'll mark the post, just to see that you're wrong. You aren't going to be able to boost up the ticket price that much. That's part of the problem now. Die hards are going to show up anyway. That's not the problem. The problem is the casual fan. You aren't getting them to pay $100 a ticket...

    Expansion cut by 6,000 seats????

All that isn't going to happen. They will just put in folding seats, maybe a roof, and that's it. The schools will just focus more on broadcasting instead of trying to boost attendance.

Clemson DT Christian Wilkins is returning & their entire DL..

I don't know. Supposedly, Wilkins was projected in the 2nd round. That's the one thing I have seen. I do know that Mitch Hyatt (starting left tackle) came back, which was also somewhat of surprise, and he came back because of what happened in the Sugar Bowl. It's possible this is what's going...

Clemson DT Christian Wilkins is returning & their entire DL..

It also makes no sense to say something "seems amiss." It's not like these guys would come back to Clemson for the old "$100 handshake," when they could just go to the NFL and get millions of dollars straight up. If it comes down to anything financial, the NFL wins that battle 100% of the time.

Playoffs confirms what we already knew

They didn't confuse him. He saw exactly what was coming, and simply couldn't do anything about it.

    College Football Playoff

And as I pointed out to you, a similar situation regarding elimination games exists regardless. Rarely would you be able to get a 3/4 loss team into the playoffs. And as I pointed out, every week is not an elimination game now, see Clemson/Syracuse, Georgia/Auburn, Oklahoma/Iowa St...

    College Football Playoff

What I'm telling you is, having "elimination" games is not as big of a deal as you think it is.

    College Football Playoff

If you want to look at it that way, then you still have "elimination" games throughout the season. Let's take your examples of Florida St and Florida (and overlook the fact they had lousy years), in the context of an expanded playoff. Florida St loses to Alabama in week 1. They have 1 loss right...

    College Football Playoff

Somebody doesn't get eliminated pretty much every week. Clemson lost to Syracuse, not eliminated. Auburn lost to LSU and Clemson, not eliminated. Georgia lost to Auburn, not eliminated. Alabama lost to Auburn, not eliminated. Most of these teams didn't get eliminated until the final week. My...

    College Football Playoff

Every week isn't an elimination now. It took 3 losses to eliminate Auburn.

    College Football Playoff

The bowls are what's stopping all that in the first place.

    College Football Playoff

Regarding the attendance issue, it's always been like that. Even with old days with the polls, you were out of the running after you lost a game or two. The motivation factor (or lack thereof) has always been there. Conference champions have never been guaranteed. What they have said is, they...

    Heisman Rankings (Week Eight)

That's you're first problem right there, going by stats. Stats are the reason Ty Detmer and Danny Wuerffel have Heisman Trophies. Neither was the best player at the time.

OT Florida Fires Head Coach Jim McElwain

The narrative is trying to apply racism to everything, regardless of whether there are legitimate explanations to the contrary.

OT Florida Fires Head Coach Jim McElwain

A variety of possibilities. Strong was already at Louisville, and was 7-6 at the time. Muschamp was the big name assistant at the time, and had been the coach-in-waiting at Texas. If you're an AD replacing a 2-time national champion, you're either going to hire the hot assistant, or big-name...
