    Squeaky Clean

My latest recurring nightmare has Huggy Bear cruising Whiskey Row while coaching the biggest baddest team he’s ever had. Please go get Jay Wright. Maybe Richard Pitino is ready to join the elite. Somebody please wake me up. Please.

    Tin Foil Hat time…

I put on my Tin Foil Hat for this one. Since only basketball has been impacted, perhaps the Bevin Grissom group really is after the Yum Center. Bringing the NBA to town, and the Cards are in the way. Since I’m venturing into wild conjecture, might as well guess KP is getting cut in on the...

Satterfield just moved off the Hot Seat

Nine of our opponents, this season, have been (at some point) ranked in the top 25. We are 3-2 against them, thus far, with 4 more to play. Seven wins against that schedule is pretty good. More encouraging, to me, is that we are getting better as the year goes on. I hope we finish strong, nail...

    Kenny Payne's Recruiting

I don’t think Wes has to go anywhere to help his anointed ones. He might use his considerable connections to steer some top kids to Payne. Cal will still get more than his share, but how it plays out could be pretty interesting.

    Kenny Payne's Recruiting

It seems Payne’s recruiting is based on excellent connections, especially to William Wesley. Wes is currently an executive VP with the Knicks, and is generally considered the best connected person in basketball. Hiring KP probably means a close relationship with Wes. In the current...

2/5/22 LOUISVILLE AT SYRACUSE GAME THREAD - 2:00 PM ESPN2

To beat this zone, you pull Gorgi out to the high post, and have Trez attack on the baseline. Replace Gorgi with Withers, and Trez with Curry.

Can We List all former Players who Returned to their schools to coach and did well?

John Wooden was an all American at Purdue, and turned down an offer to coach them. Denny Crum was a solid player at UCLA, and turned down an offer to coach them. Both were pretty, pretty good at the schools they did coach.

    4-3

Our three losses were to teams ranked 10, 13 and 30, with a combined record of 19-3. We should have beaten two of them. Very young team with a bright future.

    UofL basketball roster outlook

I’m hoping for Williams to be healthy, and for Wiznitzer to improve, and Curry to be a beast. That would give us an awesome center position. I’m hoping that Withers, JJ and Sam all have break out years, giving us awesome wings. Finally, I’m hoping the new guards, and the new offensive scheme...

    Kansas needs 6 more wins....

Kansas will likely get slammed for their latest transgressions. Many games will be vacated. Never forget that Kentucky won their first three championships with players that were being paid by gangsters to fix point spreads. It was proven, and several players were banned from the game, but no...

    Question

For me, it was that UVA game at the Yum where they scored 5 points in the last two seconds. it was just brutal. Walked out of there simply stunned and confused.

Good news, bad news for sUcK

Just a few short weeks ago, Matt Jones was telling the faithful that the word from practice was that this would be a very special team. Very special indeed. There are at least two threads on Rupps Rafters calling for bringing back Pitino. Crazy stuff, big fun.

Satt allegedly seriously interested in USCjr Job

It’s 2020 folks. Kids opting out, COVID suspensions, abbreviated training time, social unrest, everything basically upside down. Pretty tough year to pin on a coach or a team when they succumb to the adversity all around. I, for one, hope that we get past this pretty soon, and that both...

I think this team finishes out .500 (2-2)...

Everything about 2020 has proven to be highly unpredictable and impossible to analyze. I’m just going to enjoy the effort these kids are showing and hope everybody stays healthy. I hope the effort pays off next year, and beyond. Go Cards!

Petrino once tried to get LJ to de-commit?

Sometimes, Karma is a bitch. Missouri State is opening at Oklahoma Saturday night. Should be a brutal opener to the BP era for the Bears.

    Oklahoma State Hammered by NCAA

We may have been slammed the last time because the NCAA felt we were shielding the head coach. We penalized ourselves, based on our version of events, and the NCAA investigation was hampered by a lack of cooperation from former Rick assistants. Oklahoma State fired one assistant, but shielded...

Article on Satterfield and Petrino, the state of the program.

The author talks about Petrino’s last game being against U.K. during the 2-9 year. If memory serves, he was dismissed well before that game, and an assistant was in charge for that game. That kind of factual inaccuracy makes it hard to believe anything the author has to say.

    U of L gets NOA

The Bridgegate case involved aids to Governor Christie in New Jersey. The government convicted them using a creative legal theory. They used a similar theory to convict the Adidas defendants. The Supreme Court threw out the legal theory in the Bridgegate case last week, and the Adidas judge...
