Iron Bowl 2018

Tomorrow is the 2018 Iron Bowl and Nick Saban will be facing off once again against Gus Malzahn. I said inpart one of this article that Malzahn has been particularly successful against Saban, even as Auburn’s Offensive Coordinator back in 2010. I also looked into the the various SEC in-conference losses Alabama has suffered over the years, as the vast majority of their upsets have been at the hands of SEC rivals.
In the second and perhaps final installment of ‘How to Beat Alabama,’ I will be looking at the post-season games against Oklahoma and Ohio State, and of course, last year’s Iron Bowl.

If Brohm really is coming to Louisville wouldnt it have leaked out in some way ? I feel like all of the talk has kind of died down in the last few days. Maybe he isnt coming here.

What a JOKE! I was as big a fan of Tom & Mark Jurich as there was but spare me with the press table ads. How petty! Move on Jurich Group, take your millions and retire to the beach.

Sobering thought: Louisville has 14 more games against teams ranked higher than this Marquette team.

Cincinnati is winning 56-6, having a great season and this is what the stands look like...

I'll be honest I haven't kept up with Marquette since the Cards moved to the ACC, so I really don't know who they have on their team this season and what the Cards need to look out for.

There have been so many classic games and buzzer beaters between the two schools over the years, that I do miss playing them sometimes.

Hope the Cards can come away with a win from this early tourney.

I was flipping between the UVa-VaTech game and the UCF-USF game. Unfortunately, I watched yet another "Joe Theisman" moment. I truly hope McKenzie Milton is ok

Louisville WBB faces Arizona State Friday at 5:30 p.m. in the SouthPoint Shootout in Vegas. I wish I was there. A match-up of two top 25 squads. Louisville #4 or #5, depending on the poll source and Arizona State #19 or #25.

Five Keys to a Cardinal win:

1) Get Going Early. Louisville has started rather sluggishly in two of their their three wins this season. A game where Asia is "on" early, like the WKU game and Louisville takes control early.

2) Close the Bakery. Turnovers have been high for the Cards this season. 57 in three games, compared to 52 for the opponents. I know, with the offense Louisville runs, it can be high-risk, high reward -- but throwing the ball to the players in different colored uniforms than yours and moving screens are correctable mistakes

3) Interior Presence. Walz needs effectiveness in the paint from Shook, Dunham, Fuehring and Diop on both ends of the court. Missed shots need to end up in Cardinal hands. Opponent drives to the hoop need to be stopped in other ways than fouls.

4) Turn on the "A.C." We know that Asia Durr will have her usual great performance. Another big contest from Arica Carter will help bolster the Cards chances. A.C. is 9-14 from three-ball range for 64%. Yes, we'd like to order that again.

5) Next player up. With "do everything" Jazmine Jones sidelined for awhile with the hip bruise, who will step up and say: "I want those minutes and I'll earn them?" My own thoughts are use a heavy rotation of players with Asia, Arica, Dana, Sam and Kylee as the main five. Of course, I'm not sitting on the bench with a clipboard. You have to think Coach Walz and the staff have a plan and I'll trust what the "Mad Scientist" and his lab assistants have planned. .

...Kentucky will look like they have figured out how to play offense. I am ready to move on to the next version of Louisville football. Good game kitties, enjoy this ONE year advantage.

Biggest game for us and if we take out their running game they really don't have much else. QB is fast yest but our offensive line will take care of him. Remove their running game and I seriously believe our passing game is far superior to theirs. Tell me I'm wrong but I really believe we win this game by 2 TDs.

Our boys looked awesome most of the game. I saw a lot of good coaching....going to the 1 3 1, great ball movement, heart...

These aren't his guys. He's got his class coming in next year. I think there are a lot of great things to come in the coming years.

I’ll be at Central tonight to watch 2019 Louisville commit Anthony Adkins in action. Central’s defense is one of the best in the state. They held Aidan Robbins to 50 yards on 17 carries so if Adkins can produce I will be sold that he is a better prospect. Follow me on twitter at @RivalsDave for updates. What is his role on the team? He as been with three different college teams. He has only played in 1 of the 3 UofL games this year. Is he healthy?

Anyone in the know on where he’s been? Why have we not been giving him some run? He was a solid runstopper early in the year.
