U of L last 2 years of recruiting Portal and HS recruits...

Incoming Trn, Outgoing Trn. & #HS recruits:
2022 --- 12 17 16

2023 -- 25 25 18

2024 -- 31 30 14

I have read on this site that some of you think/feel this is not desirable nor sustainable. What could/should CJB have done with the heavy amount of transfers out to balance the roster to keep the numbers up while maintaining a competitive level of experience and roster?

Utilizing only HS recruits was not a prudent course of action to replace 55 outgoing transfers the last 2 years....diminishing experience and lack of #'s would have been that result.
We can debate why this happened (change in coaching and playing style, O & D systems, and getting the right fit of players in to replace the departures and skills preferred by this staff. etc, etc

I posted a comparison thread on all the ACC teams portal recruiting that you may find interesting

*My Imperfect Proposal: East vs West ACC FB Division Spllt...Updated

With hot weather and summer boredom closing in I thought I would present my FANTASY new ACC, All Coast Conference league. Just for S&G's it could look like this or that or the other. Chime in with your radical ideas.

14 ACC teams

East:-------West:

UVa---------UofL
V Tech------Cal
UNC--------Stan
NC St-------SMU
Pitt----------G Tech
Duke--------Miami
FSU---------ND?

On another thread I read about kicking out 3 ACC FB teams and who they would be. I vote that it would be BC, WF and Cuse.

Further expansion to replace those 3, I would submit a combo of TCU, UNLV, and San Diego St to help out the Western teams and balance the league E vs W. Or

Or raid the B12 and take WVU, U Cinn, and TCU and UCF to add to the mix and keep Duke and add ND. A new ACC, named All Coast Conference. Would look like this:

West: ---------- East: -------OR --- West:-----------East:
Cal -------------UVa-----------------Cal--------------UVa
Stanford-------VTech---------------Stan ------------UNC
SMU------------UNC----------------SMU-------------UofL
TCU ------------NC St---------------Miami-----------Clemson
UNLV-----------Pitt------------------GTech-----------WVU
SD St----------Clemson------------NC St-----------UCinn
G Tech--------- FSU----------------Pitt---------------FSU
UofL------------Duke----------------V Tech----------Duke
Miami----------ND? -----------------ND?-------------UCF

If I had my preference I would like the WVU, UCinn, UCF adds vs the TCU, UNLV, SD St. I could live with either one. Rivalries gained SMU/TCU, UNLV vs all, Cal vs Stanford, UofL vs WVU/UCinn/UCF would be great for Card fans.

Cards could rekindle old rivalries with old conference foes or create new rivalries with attractive new city destinations..(Las Vegas, Dallas, etc)

BL the FB experience would be radically changed/enhanced with either of these type of expansions and be a much stronger league by leaving WF, Cuse and BC behind (They add little to nothing in FB). And new west division rivalries would be spurred or renewed. Win win for the league and the new teams.

What say you? In playing the ole expansion game???

2024 All P5 Portal signees by team for comparison....Interesting data for analysis and discussion.....

Got info from various sites...other than just rivals: How does it speak to you guys? Comments please.

Team --2024/2023:

Colarado -42/52 -- Total 94
UofL - 31/24 -- Total 55
IU - 31/23 -- Total 54

USCar -22/11 -- Total 33
Ark - 22/19 --Total 41

FSU - 17/23 -- Total 40

Some heavy #'s, Could have been due to coaching changes....plus NIL....and Portal transfer rule changes. Cards not alone in this to new way of recruiting. Adapt to keep up or get left behind.

I have read on this site that some think this is not sustainable nor preferred. I have some additional data that sheds some light on why this is the trendy new model of the here and now as high T's Out is impacting the need to balance the roster with more T's in.

Posted on FB Board by mistake: 'The Athletics' take on our recruiting class:

I posted this earlier on the main Football Board by mistake. Not sure how to delete it, so I moved it to the more appropriate Board. If anyone is interested I can post the entire Athletic article dated today on ACC recruiting by team. I remain committed to giving Jeff the benefit of the doubt, he's earned it - Let's see how it plays out.

Louisville

Louisville picked up five commits this month, but the Cardinals have yet to have their breakthrough with this class. Only one of their 10 total commitments is ranked in the top 700 and none are blue-chippers. Coach Jeff Brohm has had plenty of success in the transfer portal and has proven he can develop talent, so it might not be time to panic. But it’s hard to reconcile that the same team that played for an ACC championship just six months ago has the league’s third-lowest average player rating at the moment. The Cardinals are ahead of only Cal and Boston College.

Reyne Smith

This past weekend, the transfer guard from Charleston took part in the 2024 Nissay Cup: a two-game exhibition series between Australia Select and the Japanese National Team in Hokkaido, Japan. Australia Select is a leg of the Australian National Team that features a mixture of young up-and-coming prospects, collegiate players and NBL players.

Smith, a native of Ulverstone, Australia, had a solid showing in the event for his home country. In game one, he contributed six points off the bench as part of a 90-89 win; while he had seven points, a rebound, an assist and a steal in game two - which ended in a 95-95 tie.
