In the road

I was at the game Saturday and the atmosphere was really great. The game as really exciting unfortunately we lost. Since the game I have been in Bloomington, Waterloo, IL and now Chicago. During conversations I would mention to people I am from Louisville and they all would say what a great game that was. They all thought it was a lot of excitement and thought Louisville even though we lost looked really good. Nobody mentioned the defensive struggles by both teams just the offensive production.

My choker award goes to Cal at home again this week....with WF beat down of UConn a close second (for the Huskies choking too)

Biggest surprise score to me was UNC beating bye..:D Heels are really bad and reeling. Mack Brown safe for another week.

Breakdown:

7 pf 9 - Rhino Byar, Koeterback12, Pushup, CRTW, cocoa, and mayo

6 of 9 - BooneCoCd, knucklehank, bdnewton, haydenharris

5 pf 9 - anotherCFD, TRV, TPAcdfan, CardFirst, CardFan25, cardrock

4 of 9 - sccard, WaHoo

3 of 9 - Gman

TY UF for that glorious beatdown of UK

Mild upsets...NC St over Cal and WF over UConn, both went on the road for their victories. Kudos to them.

*Best and most entertaining game was the Canes Cards in a shootout. IMO they were the better team that day.

This was a good week for almost everyone. :D

Good fortune with this weeks games fellows. Just keep grinnin and pic'n and and pic'n and grinnin!:oops:o_O;)

CL Brown on radio w/deener said no drives longer than 5 minutes in last 4 games, D get's no break.

it's funny how we're ripping the D but in our wins they saved the day. but if true, cards have not had an offensive drive eclipse 5 minutes in the last 4 games. the D is always on the field and tired. our offense relies on big plays and then expects the defense to hold without any rest. more screens and ground game to eat some clock would help. but we are not out-gunning any teams so more clock eating drives are needed. the offense, and playcalling, needs to help the d.

Lamar

It’s hard to believe the guy just keeps getting better. I really hope he breaks through and gets a Super Bowl this year. He’s on his way to his third MVP as it is. I think if he wins a Super Bowl he’s guaranteed HOF material. If he continues on this trajectory there’s no telling how he’ll be regarded before he’s through. Just incredible.

Week 8 PIC UM challenge Bragging rights go to....

ADDED NOTE.
Bragging rights go to cocoa with him getting ND's points total of 31 right on the button....and he was the only one of the six below picr's that did so.

On the premium board Pushup suggested going with total points scored to break the tie. That would be 44 and K12 would be closest, however cocoa picked ND's score right, so cocoa is this weeks winner of bragging rights. Brag on cocoa.

UL may have set a record for the number of yards yielded after contact

Not sure how Ron English, or any DC can be responsible for a defense that fails to complete a tackle after making contact. Honestly, Ward was not the difference yesterday, as Shough matched his performance. It was our defense that failed to finish off the tackles on Miami receivers and running backs despite making contact.

Pierce Clarkson needs some series

Look I'm not saying start him and give up. No. Not at all. Beating Clemson and Kentucky are still huge things. A good bowl game on New Year's Day can still happen to put us in a position to be ranked at the end. But the season for 2024 is over in terms of our goals in this new era.

In the portal era, we've chosen a year by year rebuild instead of building through the high school ranks. You may have heard of us doing this strategy. But for 2025, we need to know who our QB is and see what we have.

I don't think PC is going to wait another season as a 2nd string. Tyler Shough is going to be gone. We're losing our whole defense and most of the offense too I bet. A QB is the most expensive piece of the portal, so we need to know now if we're going after a new starter or if PC is going to at least be a favorite to get the job. If we have to go get a new QB, and a good one at that, then it will limit what we can spend elsewhere.

Pierce hasn't seen any meaningful snaps. We still don't know if he can even clearly beat out Harrison Bailey. We have Brady Allen and Duece Adams too and haven't heard much about them. I think for 2025 we need to know if Pierce Clarkson has the look of a P4 QB. Now some QBs develop over time and I get that, but I think we were hoping that he'd be the guy next season and maybe at least get a decent veteran QB to challenge him for the job.

PC being the guy next year would be best for all parties if it works out, because he's learned the playbook. We wouldn't have to go spend on an elite QB. We could come into the season with a QB that knows Brohm's playbook and a deep running back room to build from. Then we could go out and get the wideouts and line to protect him and start to build.

I am not saying give up, but we have a bye week before Stanford and Pitt. I would really like to see him get some packages installed so we can at least get him on the field. Brohm knows way more than I do about QBs, so Im not the expert. But I think the fans and even some of the guys he helped bring here with him may want to see that he has a path and a chance to start. If not, we at least can know that we have to go get a QB to start and he can either wait again or go elsewhere.
