Night and day

The difference in this team than the last two is night and day. It's unbelievable just how much smarter basketball players these guys are over the last two seasons.

They may not win 25 games or anything like that, but they know where to be, where to go on a basketball court. They all seem to know their strengths and play accordingly instead of what we saw the past two seasons where guys were trying to do things they were not all that good at doing.

They're also much better shooters and finishers around the basket. The only thing they're not better at so far is free throw shooting.

Clarkson?

I don't think the team winning has anything to do with QB play. What I see is play calling and defensive scheme. We are starting the game in the hole every time because of preparation. Our team relies on "halftime adjustments". F that. Be prepared before the game starts and stop being so predictable.
Good example is our last game. Defense comes out, forces three straight 3 and outs and our offense completely shts the bed and doesn't take advantage of the good defensive play. Next thing you instead of taking control of the game early, we found ourselves down 20-0..

Something going terribly wrong in Lexington

As to the title of the OP, I see nothing terrible about it, I think I would go with glorious..

Regardless, I'll be more than pleasantly surprised if we go into Lexington and pull off a win. They were limping down the curb when we played them here last year and let them walk out with a win. Regardless, their winning streak needs to be snapped.

UK plays in the SEC. They play names like Georgia, Tennessee, Ole Miss, Texas, Auburn & Florida. Other years they play Alabama, Texas A&M and LSU. Playing those teams, UK has lots of Super Bowls. We don't have much success against these teams. But like I said, UK has lots of Super Bowls.
They may be uk super bowls but I know uk isn’t their super bowls

Clarkson?

Did you watch the Ravens game yesterday? Ravens first drive. 4th and 1 on the goal line, Harbaugh decides to get cute, pulls Lamar off the field and only has Henry in the backfield. Direct snap and Henry loses 2 yards...

You don't think the minute Slough is not lined up at QB and another QB is that it's likely to be a run or QB sneak? What's the chance of a newly inserted QB who hasn't played since the 1st or 2nd game to mishandle or fumble the snap? I have seen it played out too many times. Brohm is still coaching like we have something to play for this year, not next. I tend to agree.
Look, I'm not advocating for Brohm to use Clarkson if the dude isn't ready for prime time. My entire point is I'm disappointed and surprised that Clarkson apparently isn't good enough now.

VIDEO: Ron English Speaks

I know people will hate these comments but I can buy it. It is the age old question can the coach teach or are players not capable of executing, To me this is a coaching issue not a player issue. You can’t go through spring and fall without clearly understanding team dynamics. How did they not see this issue in the preseason?

I get the green dot issue. Hard to simulate speed of the game and communication via helmet. Whoever has the green dot has to process and communicate a lot of information. They adjusted to that problem too late and cost them the SMU game. I don’t get understand not knowing before the start of the season players not grasping your schemes. You can’t be 5-6 weeks in and not know your units weaknesses.

We will see if they are better against Clemson and if they avoid busted coverages. I have my doubts
There have been massive screw ups where players were nowhere near where they were supposed to be. There have been issues with play calling and asking guys to do things they aren't best suited for.

BUT....

90% of the time when I watch - and this was 1,000% true against Miami - players just took bad angles or didn't tackle properly. Now, I don't know how you get to this level without knowing how to tackle but I feel like guys - for the most part - know what they're supposed to do and where they're supposed to be, they just don't execute the play properly. I'm not a coach, but you've got to see that and understand that you need get into these kids heads and make them understand how to properly execute the play. How to tackle with purpose and effort. How to close in on a ball carrier in a way that doesn't allow them past you.

I don't think Ron English forgot how to coach. But I also don't think he's been a very good coach ANYWHERE he's been either. I think he's a middling, mediocre coach and we're seeing a middling mediocre defense. One that can shut teams down for halves - check the Notre Dame second half and BC second half and then also get lost for big scores and not show up at all like in the Miami game where they showed no pride and allowed Miami to run over them and through them.

Ron English is the difference between UofL being a pretty good team and a great team.

A night game in Death Valley and the Cards are +10.5.

For the most part, Clemson has been outstanding against their opponents running game, and those “3 and outs” result in a lot more offensive opportunities and points for the Tigers. Assuming Clemson defense is successful limiting our ability to run the ball (something that Clemson has does quite effectively), Jeff needs to put aside his natural instincts towards staying with a balanced offense, and focus on our passing game. I do not see us having success running against Clemson.
