WVB Tournament observations

Pitt and Wisconsin were both fortunate to escape 5 set matches against underdogs, and several weaknesses were exposed that had been previously concealed by both survivors.

Overwhelming evidence of ESPN’s SEC bias was on display last night. As soon as the Wisconsin game ended, the ESPN TV analyst directed their full attention to TX A&M’s “heroic effort” in their loss; if someone had not seen the game, you would have thought A&M ahad won the match. Earlier in the post game interview, another ESPN reporter asked the Wisconsin star “how she felt when hearing the A&M crowd cheering louder than her Wisconsin Home fans?” You can’t make this stuff up; it is so intentional, it’s humiliating to the viewers.

Huge match between Pitt vs UK WVB game will be playing at the same time UK vs UL MBB Game; depending on how our UL Men are performing, will determine what I will be watching the closest. Before the WVB Tournament started, I thought Pitt was unbeatable, particularly in Pittsburgh. After witnessing the Thursday matches, it is evident that UK is playing about as well as any team right now, other than our UL Ladies. I will not be so surprised to see UK beat the Panthers, and that will considered as big of an upset as this sport as seen.

If our UL Ladies plays with the same focus and intensity they displayed on Friday over Purdue, we will sweep a very good Stanford Team.

Here is my two cents'

The day you disconnect from the regular fan is the day you start dying. The NBA is facing it with load management. The WNBA a bad product decided to piss off a portion of the fanbase that actually went to games.

I think college football has always had a MLB structure. Brands over the sport. I grew up in an era where the Pirates, Reds and A’s were a thing. Now they have no shot. They are priced out of the market. MLB has made good changes to speed up the game. Football as a sport seems to immune from all the outside pressures but there is a breaking point. Games are too long. Reviews are ridiculous making the in game experience less enjoyable. But eventually and sooner than later the non brand schools will be priced out of the market. All your good players are fleeced. Fans lose hope and stop buying season tickets. It still could happen what if Brown and Watson left? My guess is season tickets decline.

The current model isn’t sustainable and we all know that. What the future is who knows.

UofL vs Uk

The 10 point spread is shocking to me, and perhaps the greatest compliment to Kelsey and this UL BB Team that I seen thus far. However, just when I start thinking about UK running us off the court, I am reminded of how many times that I have underestimated the underdog, and “took the points”.

Given the differences between the two teams 3point shooting percentages, it scares me to think what could happen if both teams shoot the number and percentage of 3s tonite that they have shot thus far. I can only hope that for some unknown reason we come out and shoot 40% from 3, and 50% inside the arc. If we do, we have a shot.
