Does the ACC profit from Notre Dame football

There were a lot of green and gold in the stands when we played ND but begs the question, if they bought tickets through Stubhub or whatever, how does the University benefit from that? Concessions are concessions, do ND fans eat and drink more than other fans? I fail to see any real substantial benefit.

Went back and looked it up, scheduling ND at home is basically the same as having UK at home, about 58,000. I guess more ND fans would stay overnight and eat at restaurants in town so I could see how the city might benefit from that but again that's not the University.

ESPN awful coverage

I've never understood Desmond Howard's value, but the whole set is marred by Pat McAfee; I know we're in a Barstool Bro era, but he turns what I think is serious evaluation into a Clown show. Which I guess is a thing these days, to turn everything into outrageous spectacle.
Des adds little or nothing. He is there b/c he is a Heisman winner from a "name" program.

I agree with you about McAfee. My Grandsons and their respective crews like him.

I will give some credit to their pre-game coverage. I was in the other room when one of the analysts (Herbie???) stated that the game would likely come down to a late-game turnover and a resulting FG. The wife thought it was an outrageous comment and took umbrage with it. How could he make such a ridiculous comment? My reply was that it was to help sell the game and that I happened to agree with it. I just picked the wrong team to win.

Does the ACC profit from Notre Dame football

Just curious if the ACC profits anything from Notre Dame ( Independent)
When they play in ACC stadiums I guess there’s the benefit of a bigger crowd and more paid attendance. As far as non-monetary profit goes, ACC schools get a quality opponent on the non-conference schedule, which helps with SOS and probably some with recruiting.

Noah Waterman

Probably helps explain, a little, a out his recent, greater reluctance to take on contact around the basket.
Well, it didn't stop him from making that last basket against EKU... Just saying. Try not using your thumb on your dominant hand for a while and see how much it affects you (like opening your fly) Plus it has to be painful every time it touches something.

Louisville vs Wake Forest

I don't know where people get off thinking Walz's team is gonna make the final 4 every year... I guess it's because it seemed that way. Even CDC couldn't do that. I know it might be a little different with the women, specifically UCONN, Tennessee and now lately South Carolina. Temper your expectations and realize this team is really young and learning. Probably won't end up where it seems like some fans expect but building a team in this environment with portal and transfers is hard. Ask why Bennett, Coach K, Boeheim, Wright, Saban.... have stepped away. By the way, women are on a 5 game winning streak...

Cards v. PITT

Our poor, unfocused play leads me to believe that often we do not respect our opponent. We look at their record and think we can just coast and win. Not the case in todays sports, of any kind. Could this be the result of having a young team, a team still struggling to firmly establish a leader? I have faith in Jeff to help them grow up. We have the potential to be a very solid team.

National Semifinal Picks

Since Mayo didn't do a Pic'em this week. I decided to see if I could make it so we could post our takes. No winners, no losers and most certainly no trophy! Post if you want, ignore if you want.

Penn State over Notre Dame 24-21. My original pick b4 the CFP began was Notre Dame, but wrestled mightily with this one in the last few days.

Ohio State over Texas 35-24. I picked the Buckeyes b4 the CFP started and see no reason to change now.
Looks like yours truly over-thought this one. Should have stuck with my original pick lol.

Welcome .....the new SEC west

I am kind of with Cycle on this one.

I am kind of with Cycle on this one. Not sure when all this talk about conferences began, maybe when the SEC teams started dominating the college football championship or when the discussion began about having a college football playoff, but I have always had favorite "teams" and not favorite "conferences." Outside of Louisville, my favorite team growing up was the Sooners and I hated Nebraska and Texas. Billy Sims, Marcus Dupree, Greg Pruitt, Selmon brothers, the Boz.... I dislike Duke and North Carolina as much as I do Ohio St and Michigan. Out of the Big 10, I liked Purdue, mostly because of basketball. While I dislike Alabama, Florida and LSU, I like watching Georgia. I liked UCLA over USC. And as Cycle pointed out, other conferences don't really mean anything to me if Louisville doesn't win its own conference. If U of L is not playing for an ACC championship, bowl game or NC, I couldn't really less what conference wins. Sure I have my preferences.
Exactly my favorite teams was Nebraska, USC and Georgia. Hell at that age didn’t even know what conferences they were in. It was never discussed. Hershel Walker, White, and Rosier all were fun to watch. The Pony Express.

The BCS era or TV explosion the SEC propaganda machine kicked in where the conference was more important than their teams. The selection process was more about predicting the winner.

The beauty of the playoff is, for the most part, it is proven on the field. Notre Dame, an independent, is playing for the title. They probably don’t make it in the BCS era.

I do understand why people lean on conferences, I know it is was a good way to evaluate a team, but it is no longer valid with the scheduling and playoffs. Look it is still going to be brand teams in the final game. They just have more resources than the majority of teams they are competing with.

It feels Damn good….

It feels so good to be excited about Cardinal basketball again.Me and my Son have made a day or night out of watching the Cards play. He was too young to understand when we won the championship in 2013 (cough, cough). So now is his first taste of seeing the Cards, even though theses Cards are not the 80, 86, or even the 2013 Cards it still makes me proud to see him get excited to watch the games with his Old Man.I was at the store and someone saw my UofL gear and told me that it felt good to have Louisville basketball back. Coach Kelsey and the team are getting recognized all the way up here in Sioux Falls, SD. I politely smiled at the Man wearing his Vikings jersey and said, “it sure is.”
