Louisville Volleyball now 3-0 on the season with the straight set win over the Tigers 25-12, 25-22, 25-18.
UofL hit .298 as a team with 11 blocks and five aces. Anna DeBeer had 10 kills, two aces and nine digs. Amaya Tillman had six kills and three blocks and Claire Chaussee added seven kills, an ace and a block. Transfer setter Raquel Lazaro produced 31 assists and four blocks. Sophomore from Mercy Academy libero Elena Scott had a match-high 18 digs. Mercy girls rock !
Lazaro gathered MVP honors and "I know, you know, Aiko" Jones and Amaya Tillman were voted to the All-Coyote Invitational Team. Louisville was getting the job done defensively, limiting Missouri to just .042 hitting and only two aces and seven blocks. The Tigers were led by Anna Dixon's 12 kills and four blocks.
The "A team" may have lost Anna Stevenson, but still has Aiko, Amaya, Anna. Ayden, Alexa and Alexis. Anyone born in the 90's or later probably won't get the "A Team" reference.
The Cardinals travel to Bowling Green to take on Western Kentucky on Wednesday in Diddle Arena. Early indication is it's a ESPN+ showing. EA Diddle Arena is bout an hour and a half drive (results may vary, depending who is behind the wheel) so, why not pop into the jalopy and see it live?
