Volleyball sweeps Samford to open NCAA Tournament

University of Louisville women's volleyball team romped to a 25-9, 25-13, 25-12 victory in the first round of the NCAA tournament over Samford Friday night at L&N Federal Credit Union Arena.

Aiko Jones led the Cards with 11 kills.

Louisville Volleyball advances to face Purdue Saturday night at 6 p.m. in the LNFCU.

UofL never allowed the Bulldogs to lead at any point in the match and the Cards hit a season-high .514. Claire Chaussee finished the match with nine kills, seven digs, and a block. Another solid effort from Amaya Tillman, who added six kills, and a team-high three blocks while hitting .625. Raquel Lazaro finished with 28 assists and five digs

In other NCAA action, UNI sent FSU home in five sets, Pitt eliminated Colgate in three sets and Marquette swept Ga. Tech in second round action.

State-wise, KY sent WKU back to Bowling Green in straight sets.

Six of your Sweet Sixteen squads have been determined: KY, Marquette, Nebraska, Baylor, Texas and San Diego.
