A BIG night for Aiko Jones, who had seven kills, an ace and two blocks for #4 University of Louisville volleyball team. The VolleyCards swept the Duke Blue Devils 25-12, 25-20, 25-22 Friday night at L&N Federal Credit Union Arena.

Sweep number 14 for UofL on the year for Dani Busboom's squad, who is now 20-2 on the season and 11-1 in ACC play. Not the greatest of hitting percentages (.203 )for the Cards....they also had six aces, and eight blocks. Claire (in the air) Chaussee and Amaya Tillman each had six kills with Tillman adding three blocks. An active evening for setter Raquel Lazaro, with five kills, 17 assists, an ace, a match-high seven digs and four blocks.

The Cards blew Duke out of the LNFCU doors and over to Ulmer Stadium in the first set -- The Cardinals used a 7-0 run in the first set to take a 7-1 lead and never looked back. The Cardinals jumped out to a 10-3 lead early in the second set and cruised home for the five-point win. Duke did put up a struggle in the third set and took an early lead in the third set at 5-4. UofL gained some distance with a 5-1 run to lead 15-11 . Duke had one last run left in them and pulled to within one at 17-16, but the Cardinals kept the Blue Devils at arm's length going up 21-18 and maintained the three-point margin for set and match.

I was there. A little underwhelming. But a win is a win. I REALLY enjoy VB! Huge number of service errors. Both teams. Inconsistent play by players both sides.
