About time we played a team that didn't or couldn't suffocate the Cards defensively. This Cards team needs to find its groove offensively and FSU was the perfect opponent.

18 assists and 6 turnovers.

Good looks usually leads to made shots and the Cards did just that. Great game for Smith and kudos for Waterman.

All around great butt kicking on the road.

Yes it is! This team is really starting to adjust to the players that are still healthy. Hopefully we can get on a bit of a run the next month.

It looks like Edwards has settled in. He is playing at a good pace which he wasn’t early in the year.

They run really good stuff and take advantage of switches which forces double teams in post which leads to open shooters.
It is a different way to use the paint touches.

Defense is an issue. They may have issues in some games. But they play hard.

This was a big win as far as the development of this team. FSU had the right gameplan at the beginning by concentrating on Chucky. They know or felt like he was our kryptonite but Edwards and Reyne stepped up big time. Chucky just can't get overaggressive on defense and get in foul trouble. Hopefully Traore can help with that. I am disappointed that we can't seem to get more than 1 shot attempt from Scott and Rooths was MIA.

Rooths got 14 minutes yesterday and produced 1 rebound and zero points. Seems like he doesn't get to stay in the game long enough to get in the flow. Seems like he just gets a couple minutes here and there. After the Duke game I figured his minutes would increase, especially with our short roster.. Guess Kelsey has his reasons but I'd be curious to know what they are..

He's probably not improving at something the coaches want him to improve on. The bench is a perfect motivator and if a coach feels he can win the game keeping the player on the bench, he will.

Rooths a rookie, surrounded by dudes who started their college careers when he was 13 years old. He needs to learn and improve on what's being asked of him, and then he will get back on the court.

there is no way to know if Rooths will be around next year with transfer portal. freshman are a waste of roster space until there are 2-3 year NIL deals.

No way was I bashing Rooths. My point was with a shortened roster due to injuries, he's got to find ways to contribute even if he's not scoring. Rebounds, steals, blocked shots and even fouling if that keeps other guys from picking up fouls. Chucky has to be on the floor that much we know. I know he's a freshman but his energy was what I liked about him. 14 minutes is enough time to contribute something.

I get what you're saying, but there are plenty mistakes being made by other guys (Waterman) (Hadley) that don't get punished with bench time.. To me if you're going to ride with some guys making mistakes, I'm going to chose the freshman, he probably has more room to get better than those senior guys, plus, hopefully, you keep him for next year. Maybe that's part of the master plan, hold him back so he doesn't have other teams coming after him in the off season.. 🤔

No one said he made any "mistakes" but he has to find a way to contribute, probably rebounding and defending. We got enough guys shooting 3's. I think freshman feel like they have to come in and score right away and thats not the case here. We need bodies playing significant minutes to keep from getting tired and more importantly foul trouble.

Someone (not you) made the comment he probably wasn't doing what the coaching staff wanted so they were using the bench as a motivator.. That's kinda the same as making mistakes in my opinion..

With a limited or shortened roster, isn't that like only hurting yourself? I don't think that's how Kelsey coaches.

Regardless of why, he isn't getting many minutes, the question was why...and as you said, with a shortened bench not playing him is hurting us..

You're trying to argue it both ways..

Not trying to argue anything. Just saying we have 5 guys averaging over 30 mins a game and through the course of the conference schedule, guys are either going to wear down or end up getting in foul trouble. With Ibe only average less than 4 mins a game we need Rooths to contribute more as we are thin in the front court. Hopefully, Traore gets back to game shape but until he does I think Rooths could be a big key as to how well we do in conference play.

19-23 year old kids getting tired during the season is such BS. These kids are in unreal shape. Averaging 30+ minutes a game 2x times a week ain't shit. Now conference tourney, yes, regular season, not at all!
