Klenakis is at Louisville, in state 5* Linemen goes elsewhere

You are either a complete idiot or an unrepentant troll. I don't "love" Klenakis and as I challenged you to do so with your other nonsense, please list one post where I said anything resembling that.

The OL played TERRIBLY on Thursday but, I don't remember any OL fumbling or, any OL giving up TDs. Ordinarily I wouldn't go to the extra lengths to explain that my point is that football is a team game but...

And yes, stats are not the be or end all but when their comparison is with your semi-coherent ramblings, well I'll take the stats every time.

And with that, I say goodbye to you and this topic.
just like I thought, neither you or the other sunshine pumper touched on the subject of the gaps, and our inability to line up correctly.

The fumbles and the sacks are both dead smack on the shoulders of the line. If joe montana was our quarterback, this line would still be garbage because the line coach is garbage and that is why no 5 star player will give us a sniff.

get rid of the garbage coaching our offensive line and we will recruit better linemen.

for you to say one bad game shows how much of a sunshine pumper you are. by my watch it has been 3 terrible years.

year 3, game 11 and we couldnt even stand up on the field.

keep pumping the sunshine kragthorpe.

If you want to compare your Oline recruiting to Bama, Clemson and OSU, you better pick up the pace.

Of your 5 current commits...3 are two star guys and 2 are 3 star. According to Rivals offer lists, the 5 players have a TOTAL of 2 Powe five offers! Both offers to Bently from Virgina and Georgia Tech...

That's got to be pretty worrisome
it is a shame that a cat fan can see that, but the sunshine pumpers here think piss is moonshine.

First one we've had...we typically don't take 5 stars booted from other teams. Young is a true frosh getting time at LT and playing solid. Check back in a couple years bud

I think it's actually more of a case of highly rated transfers not giving Ky jr college any consideration, knowing that they most likely will never sniff a bowl game.

Actually I'm pretty happy to have one five year guy, three 4 year guys and one 3 year guy starting this year.....

But more than happy to have 3 guys offered by Bama waiting in the wings. No substitute for talent many more times than not.

Settle down little fella. Bama offered Elam too. Lol.

Actually our starting Oline consists of 2 three star guys, 2 two guys and a walk on. The highly rated guys include Young (5 star freshman) who is the backup at LT, and 2 4 star guys that had Bama offers last year (Jackson and Leavitt) are redshirting..

Maybe it's a player development issue with Petrino and his Olinemen these days.... : )

Player development issues? Now that is an area that ky jr college fans should be well versed. Lol.

While all of that may be true, you still have to try to make the inroad. He's from Lexington. Disadvantage #1, but not able to be overcome.

Signed, Kyle Bolin

Signed, Russ Yeast, son of a UK legend.

Russ is from Indiana. It's true that we get the occasional player from out in the state, but not a regular occurrence.

Oh boy here we go. UK beats the worst team at home in the history of organized college football to become bowl eligible and they show up here talking about recruits that Bama wanted.
Matt Elam... How is that working out?. Good thing UK did not schedule Chattanooga, they gave Alabama a better game than UK. BTW, did you ever pay up on your wager with Steelers on the UK / U of L game last year?

Funny how you choose not to comment on the dreadful Oline recruiting in UL's class this year. 2 P5 offers among 5 players. And last year's wasn't much better.

Doesnt bode well for the future

What is truly funny is how our jr college to the east constantly refers to the future when your present sucks while currently playing in the absolute worst division of P5 college football. You guys always refer to star ratings although it is common knowledge that in football that is not a reliable predictor as to how a player will develop. Every year it's the same old mantra (jr college gets better while everyone else regresses). Lol. UofL has done better than than UK could even dream to in that regard. Keep hanging on to those hopes and dreams though, it's pretty much all you have. See you Saturday bubba.

The thing is we are currently 9-2 and projected to end the season 10-2. This is with our 2* & 3* lineman. For comparison sake look at Penn St,Nebraska,LSU,FSU,Georgia,USC,TX,Tenn, etc with all the 4* & 5* talent on their OL. Not a whole lot of difference there with the better teams listed. At the same time we're doing better then some too. Go Cards!!!

You also have an,uber talented and elusive QB...what do you honestly think that record be without him. And 4 of your linemene starting right noway have legit P5 offers. You aren't getting commitments from many olinemen the last two years with guys getting those offers.
You are kidding Yourself if you think you will continue To compete on a high level with those type Oline recruits

Actually, you can go back THREE years like I did. Funny thing is, our O-line recruits are a shade better than our D-line recruits according to Rivals. And no one is b!tching about our D-line.

Which tells me that the rating and offer stuff ain't telling the whole story. With your history, no one should understand that better than a slapd!ck...

We actually won 9 games the year before Jackson came in with an OL most folks felt was as bad as this years. So don't be disappointed if U of L continues to win 9-10 games after Jackson is gone while recruiting 2* & 3* lineman.

In 2014 we pretty much started a rotation of Jamon Brown(UK,Purdue,Illinois),John Miller(offers from Kansas St,Marshall,UCF,S.FL,&FIU),Jake Smith(UAB & UCF),Ryan Mack(Offers from UK,Memphis,AR St,& S.Miss),Hughley(walk on),& Aaron Epps(Only offer was Lville). That group allowed us to go 9-4 with Gardner,Bonnafon,& Bolin at QB.

In the last two classes we have Linwood Foye(Missouri & TX Tech),Robbie Bell(Colorado St & Middle TN), James Dematto(East Carolina,Syracuse,Tulane),Gerrik Volmer(only offer is U of L),Cole Bentley(GA Tech & VA),Joey Palmer(Cincy,Memphis,Colorado St),Poutasi Poutasi(UNLV,San Diego St,Colorado St). 5 power school offers between those kids. Almost identical to the kids in the 2014 group that won 9 games while in the ACC.

for some, 9 wins is Heaven.

if you just take away the false starts by the offensive line this season.

at clemson 2nd down at the 6 yard line and about to score the game winning touchdown, we get a false start.

beginning of the game 3 false starts.

At houston, minus the butt fumble, you take away the swiss chees offensive line and replace it with the one at western kentucky and we beat houston.

So to all of the people so in love with our offensive line coach, ask him why western kentucky has a better offensive line and he is in year (3).

We would be undefeated if our offensive line was 1/2 as good as what we had in the bridgewater years.

I hope we find a way to get better linemen to campus because without Lamar running for his life back there, who knows how many sacks we will surrender.

Hopefully some Juco guys will come here, or they can convert some defensive guys to the offensive line like schnellenberger used to do.

The present and future at offensive line looks bleeeeeeeeeeeeek. and because of it, 10/11 wins will be our ceiling. (unless we hire a competent oline coach)

Again, our O-line recruits overall are rated as good as our D-line recruits since Petrino's arrival. Are you complaining about our D-linemen as well? If not, why not??

In 100+ years of U of L football the Cardinals have only won 9 or more games like 14 times....Idk if winning 9 is heaven but considering our overall history it's a pretty big deal. If we were fortunate to consistently win 9,10,or 11 games I'd be ecstatic. Under this staff I believe we'll be at that level. I guarantee you Oregon,GA,Notre Dame,TX,or LSU (and all those 4*/5* OL recruits) would love to have 9 wins right about now.

The difference between louisville and those programs is that when a change is needed, they make the change. They also have a tradition that we aspire to attain.

either A you refuse to stay on topic, or be you simply embrace diversion. So lets play this on your terms.
Grantham is mostly a good defensive coordinator. Aside from his total embrace of the blitz every down philosophy he has almost kept the quality of defense Charlie had here.

For the defensive recruits to be rated below the offensive line recruits and the defense to shine the way it has, either our defensive coaches need a raise for over performing, or our offensive line coaches need to be fired for not being able to communicate, train, enhance, or field a quality line for 3 years.

watch the kentucky game and look for the largest gap on our line. our running plays will go to our widest gap because our guru line coach teaches it that way. Any defensive coordinator worth his salt will simply blitz the same way clemson, duke, wake and houston did. We pass on first down at a great percentage. Most of the time

We complete that pass, but when we do not we are stuck running on 2nd and long. we run it to the wide gap in our line and solid defenses have been blitzing that (tell) from our guru. A line coach that can "A" recruit elite linemen here, and "B" coach them up is needed.

long story short, according to you we are giving klanakis high rated players, higher than our defense and our offensive line is an insult to football in year 3 of giving this guru quality talent.

so tell me, why is he on the louisville staff, if by your own words he is underperforming?

Geez Beasley you should find out where Klankass and lives and go to his house and crap on his porch , bad game every team has 1. Let it go.
just because klanakis is a moron does not mean I wish him danger, I just want him fired. he is clueless,

second, it is an even greater shame that you or any fan would say one bad game. I would love to know what team you have been watching.

Kragthorpe got shown the door just as fast as TX showed Charlie Strong the exit. Cooper got the hook too. U of L has shown they will do what's necessary if it's a complete failure. The only way to build traditions similar to the top programs is to win. In the last 5 years we've been doing that on par with other top 25 programs.

The Klenakis haters are the guys morphing the debate. I just refuted your accusation that he couldn't recruit...our incoming O-linemen are as talented as our D-linemen. Yet you only complain about the recruiting of one group of players.

And you have zero proof that Klenakis is the coach responsible for the O-line except that that's his title. I maintain that Petrino has his hands on everything related to the offense. Last time I checked, that included the O-line. But you won't take on Petrino because that's a much taller order, will you?...

so the argument is that the OLine coach has to go because two in state OL choose alabama over us? they chose to play for the greatest college football coach in history whose teams are ranked #1 every year and play for a title every year over us? so we must fire our O line coach because he can't recruit against saban? no a good basis to make your point imho

And you have zero proof that Klenakis is the coach responsible for the O-line except that that's his title. .

And that, people of this board is why this man has zero credibility. "Well you have no proof that he's responsible for anything about them other than he's their coach".

WOW!! What a great gig it must be at UofL. Petrino runs EVERYTHING. All you have to do is show up on time and look good. Don't worry about having to do any actual coaching, Petrino's got that covered for you.

The OL has been a longstanding issue in the program. Even under CCS we had problems, though a few of those guys actually were drafted. All I know is, a good OL can make average skill people look good, and the greatest skill people in the world can look bad with a bad OL. The awful performance Thursday cannot be rationalized. They were physically overpowered, made repeated drive-killing penalties including, inexplicably, multiple false starts, and gave up 11 (!) sacks. That was not just being unprepared, that was a non-effort. Every position should be open for competition after that spectacle. A new focus on recruiting offensive linemen must be in place. Klenakis has to be evaluated. This is not a one-game phenomenon. This OL is soft, period. We will never reach "Collision Point" like this.

That was not just being unprepared, that was a non-effort.
That line right there says it all. It cuts to thru the BS and hits the nail squarely on the head. That non-effort is why the loss to Houston is so difficult to understand and accept. It's as if Houston knew what we were going to run before we knew. I have never seen a UofL offensive line dominated that way, ever regardless who was coaching them.

and that is why the awe shucks, give him another chance kragthorpe cards do not understand why klanakis needs to be fired if we aspire to do more than a russel athletic bowl.

The reason Houston knew what to blitz is because the moron in charge of the line HAS UNEQUAL SPLITS. wherever we run the ball there is a noticeable difference in the split of the linemen, ALL HOUSTON DID IS BLITZ THE LARGEST SPLIT.

UNTIL THIS ISSUE IS SETTLED, EXPECT MORE OF THE SAME. Clemson did it, Duke did it, Wake did it, and Houston abused it.

I guess the kragthorpe Cards will notice when it is Kentucky doing it.

Klenakis is past his time and needs to be fired immediately. 3 years in and not only are the results subpar, Western Kentucky has a better offensive line than Louisville does and it is not even close.

We would be undefeated if we had western kentucky's offensive line and or offensive line coach. Think about that.

Personal attack much, Mr. Sensitive?

Per Rivals (this site): Our O-line recruiting = Our D-line recruiting. The former being one of your main crusades. And you mention "credibility"??

I equate attacking Klenakis or any position coach on offense to attacking David Padgett for our low-post play in basketball. One criticism is about as accurate as the other. To argue that Petrino and Pitino are not accountable and it's our ASSISTANTS who are is ridiculous.

"I'm not sure what Pitino could know about the frontcourt, he's only 6'2" tall!!" Asinine.

Now our defense is a different story... There, the buck stops with Todd Grantham. He's paid huge money because he's the guy in charge there. And when we falter anywhere on D, I ain't necessarily looking at Petrino.

Amazing to me how people can watch so much U of L athletics and not understand basic stuff. Esp. self-proclaimed experts and guys touting their own credibility...

For someone that can construct very coherent sentences, you certainly offer no substance to those sentences. Let's try again, I'll type slower.

You're saying that according to Rivals, our O line is rated at least as good, if not better than the D line. Correct? We'll assume yes.

If we accept that as fact, then why is our defense one of the top rated defenses in the country against the run ? ( Having faced faced players such as Dalvin Cook, DeShawn Watson and Wayne Gallman)

Yet that more talented offensive line is porous. How can that be? We rank 121st out of 128 schools in sacks allowed. 6 or 7 false starts against Houston alone.

So obviously there is an issue there. Is it talent or coaching?

I'll hang up and listen.............................

But, but, I thought KJC had uber duber talented Barker. Remember how you guys had him penciled in as the next great thing after Towles left? Lol. Let me enlighten you. Neither one of those bums would make the three deep at UofL . If you weren't entirely clueless you would begin to understand stars don't mean sh!t. Just look at your receivers. They drop more passes than UPS does packages, in spite of having what you consider major offers. The good news is that Saturday you will get to see firsthand how this actually works bubba.

An objective analysis on that info alone says coaching.

But there's a guy named "Kratz" who started a recent thread devoted to the subject of "GLARING recruiting need" on the O-line. And this was his first post...
I've been preaching about recruiting for a long time, and too many people have told me to trust BP because he spots diamonds in the rough.

Yes, he does when it comes to skilled players. NO NO NO when it comes to the line. All this time and scholorships spent on WRs and other skilled positions doesn't mean crap when your line isn't worth a damn.

We're loaded at skill positions. Time to invest in some linemen that can actually block and understand a snapcount. I'm not sure all of these linemen could start at Trinity, much less a major D1 program.
So which is it? Were you just drunk at the keyboard on Thursday nite and thinking clearly four days later? Or has your argument simply morphed now that you have been called out on your superficial recruiting analysis? It's one or the other, and you're the only guy who knows the answer...
