UL Football being vilified again.

Media painting us as evil and two faced in this article from the USA Today.

At least two of the Louisville football program’s 2019 recruits were “thrown for a loop” Sunday night when the incoming coaching staff informed them they would not honor the players’ scholarship offers.

Four players — athlete Anthony Adkins, guard Jack Randolph, wide receiver Stanley King, defensive tackle Denzel Daxon — have now reopened their recruitment. Those changes represent the first movement in Louisville’s recruiting class since the introduction of new coach Scott Satterfield on Tuesday.

Randolph said he received a call from recruiting staffer Pete Nochta, who informed him that “they were just looking to go in a different direction offensive line-wise, and told me I didn’t have the length or the weight to play in their system, so they pulled their scholarship," Randolph said.

After the news Sunday night, a parent of another prospect said, “The answer that was given to (recruits) was they’re trying to go in a totally different direction than anything Bobby Petrino wanted or had going on. So basically they’re cutting them? Because Petrino recruited them?”

“We were told from somebody at Louisville that all of the commits that were still there were going to have their scholarship hold up, no matter what happened with the new coach,” Randolph said.

Louisville’s 2019 class now has just four commits and ranks 125th in the country. The class has been leaking recruits for the past six weeks, during which nine players have decommitted and none have committed.

Asked Wednesday if he had spoken to the seven players who remained committed, Satterfield said he hadn’t yet.

“We’re just now diving into that film, watching them, seeing if they are going to fit our needs, what we want, and we’ll do some more of that tomorrow,” Satterfield said. “We’ll start talking to those guys tomorrow. Then, really try to get the rest of the class — who are some other guys that we need to look at and we’ll get on those guys as well, probably go see a few as well.”

In the four weeks between the firing of Petrino and hiring of Satterfield, athletic director Vince Tyra took on a bulk of the recruiting responsibilities. He reached out to most of the remaining commits and several prospects who hadn’t made decisions or who had committed to other schools.

While Louisville lost two more commits — quarterback Jaden Johnson and tight end Sam Snyder — in the days before Satterfield’s introduction, the last seven remained interested.

“We have the flexibility we wouldn’t normally have because we only have 11 scholarships available to offer, and we have commitments to fill a good portion of those, and those commitments are solid, from my calls with the kids,” Tyra said Nov. 29.

After evaluation, Satterfield had Nochta made calls Sunday night to revoke the scholarships, which shocked the prospects affected. Randolph, who committed last April, was set to graduate from high school Friday, sign Dec. 19 at the start of the early signing period and enroll in early January.

“Now it’s thrown me for a loop," Randolph said. "I’m having to come up with a high school schedule for next semester and having to regroup.”

Positive News

This is very good news. S&P Global upgrading Foundation outlook also good news. No mention of it in the Curious Urinal though...why focus on accreditation when you can pass along one sided unsubstantiated schlock about "revoking" scholarships to your parent company.

Lipscomb Bisons

Interesting team invading tomorrow night. They're 7-2,with both losses coming to Belmont,of all teams. I say that because Belmont is not in their conference. The Bisons are in the Atlantic Sun Conference.

What's also interesting is that they've knocked off SMU and then 18th ranked TCU,both on the road.

I like our chances if we come to play. Finals week,so anything is possible.Of course, the Bisons might not be catching us at a good time.

Pasadena Bowl

Watched the final few plays of the Pasadena Bowl on KET today as the 1970 team was driving for a touchdown to win the game. On the second to last play John Madeya threw a pass to Tom Jesukitus who ran around behind the line of scrimmage before throwing a pass to Cookie Brinkman for a touchdown to win the game. Of course two forward passes was illegal and the Cards were penalized and the game against Long Beach State and 'Superman' Leon Burns ended in a tie. That play was emblematic of the Corso years as something wild was always happening in the games.

Franklin Simpson coach being a punk on twitter

Dude is going off on UL and Satts for pulling an offer for one of his kids. If he cared about the kid he would have warned him 4 weeks ago when Bobby was fired this could happen. Why would he want his kid to go to a program where he might not fit the system?

He said no UL coaches should come recruit his players. Okay coach....go ahead and threaten a D1 staff from your state. Im sure that will help your career.

Looks like we might have a Messiah coming

4 star out of high school who initially went to Michigan State. Just led his juco to the national title. Looks like UofL is his top choice as most other P5 programs are looking for freshmen.

Does this mean a position change for Puma? He could probably kick ass as a tight end that we could utilize on trick plays.

** Quick Hits: Tuesday, Dec. 11 edition

- Louisville is getting ready to announce the official announcements for Frank Ponce and Bryan Brown. That should happen this afternoon or perhaps tomorrow morning.

- These first two hires are absolutely crucial to get things rolling with the staff. And to get some help on the recruiting trail for Satterfield. I would think the strength coach and others will be the next steps.

- Louisville just lost Ken Lolla, who abruptly resigned today. He had just re-organized his contract, but he did not have a buyout if the resignation happened before Dec. 31, 2018. After that date, he would have had to pay Louisville if he chose to take another job.

- Ken was on 790 this afternoon with Ramsey and Rutherford and he said he wasn't sure what was next, but that he is open to new opportunities. I'm not sure what that will be, but I have already heard a dozen theories.

- The Louisville job is a HUGE job in the collegiate soccer community.
+ Elite stadium
+ Elite facilities
+ Top 5 pay
+ Best Conference in the nation

- Because of the job that Lolla did and because of Louisville's facilities, Vince Tyra can pursue the best of the best

- Here are two of the best of the best...

Johan Cedergren, coach of Kentucky: https://ukathletics.com/coaches.aspx?rc=1732&path=msoc

Jared Embick, coach at Akron: https://gozips.com/coaches.aspx?rc=528&path=msoc

- There will be other names in the search, but those are the first two that come to mind as GREAT coaches in spots that aren't in the ACC already.

- On Cedergren, he does have a big time team coming back, and UK is a big-time job, BUT his contract last year paid less than half of what Lolla made here, and the facilities here are incredible, Plus, the ACC, of course.

- Small soccer world? Morgan Hackworth, the son of LouCity coach John Hackworth, plays for Embick at Akron.

- 14:20 in this podcast is Eric Bossi, the Rivals.com National Analyst talking about Louisville's recruiting class and how he is going to vote for Samuell Williamson for McDonald's All-American: https://www.spreaker.com/user/9809029/l1st-12-11f

A little vindication for those of us who liked UAB's Bill Clark - winner of the ....

Bill Clark won the Eddie Robinson Coach of the Year Award.

https://collegefootballtalk.nbcspor...clark-named-eddie-robinson-coach-of-the-year/

This season, UAB's 10 wins are the most in school history, breaking the record of 8 .... set by Bill Clark the year before. UAB's best years before that were 7 wins in 2000 and 2004. All the more remarkable, as he has to start the program over from scratch in 2016.

Bill Clark beat out UCF's Josh Heupel, Army's Jeff Monken, Oklahoma's Lincoln Riley, Alabama's Nick Saban, Notre Dame's Brian Kelly, Clemson's Dabo Swinney, and Fresno State's Jeff Tedford.

This guy will be at a much bigger school in the very near future.

Another Possible Staff Name to Watch

ShaDon Brown, the safeties coach at Colorado the past two seasons, is a name I'm hearing to be coming here in the same capacity. Though I'm not totally sure when that'll be announced. Colorado is announcing various staff holdovers today for Mel Tucker and Brown wasn't one named so I don't think I'm compromising anything. What's the connection?

  1. He coached for five years at Wofford. At Wofford he was working under Nate Woody. It was Woody and Satterfield who developed App State's unique twist on the 3-4 defense.
  2. Brown is a native of Danville, KY. He played at Campbellsville. He also coached at Boyle County HS and Rowan County HS in the early 2000s.

FB RECRUITING: Could Louisville be back in play for a former commit?

A one time Louisville commit, 3-star running back Glover Cook had most recently been committed to Missouri before announcing his decommitment from there today. I reached out to Cook to see if there happened to be any mutual interest remaining with him and Louisville in which he did acknowledge an interest. Before being let go, Kolby Smith had been in communication with Cook. At this point the Ocala, FL running back said Arkansas, Colorado, USF, and a few other schools have been in contact with him and that he wanted to check things out at Louisville as well.

On Louisville's side, from conversations I've had, I'm not sure the Cardinals will take another running back in the class with Aidan Robbins committed. From what I have gathered the interest would only be there if the target is elite so it will be interesting to see if Scott Satterfield feels Cook could be that in the Louisville offense.
