BASKETBALL A couple of quick things

Thanks to everyone who stopped by BA Colonial last night. It was great meeting @Smithereen and several other members. That was my first time interacting with Ronnie Harris and his family. They’re all in on Coach Kelsey and are huge supporters, the type of people you want your HC to have a genuine relationship with. Boosters if you want to use that term.

Speaking of boosters, the response has been incredible. The scene at Volare last night was one to behold, from what was passed along to me. A couple very big donors welcomed Coach Kelsey and his entire family.

Coach Kelsey is continuing to build those connections out with boosters/donors and is taking any phone number and reaching out to anyone he is told to. He’s not shying away from that part of the job, he’s running towards it.

Along those lines, as best as I know, 502Circle is going to release an announcement in the next few days that will show just how much momentum is behind the NIL effort to get this program back and back right away. It’ll raise some eyebrows (in a good way.)

As far as ticket sales, I texted a contact in the department who said “The past 24 hours were one of the best MBB sales day ever.”

Which leads me to this, I’ve been blown away by this fanbase the last week. I thought it would be extremely difficult to wake people up, and get things back from being dormant. Between the Spaces on Twitter, my personal cell phone, and just general interactions across the board. Y’all are awake.

I’ll have some more recruiting nuggets to pass along when I can. As I mentioned in a previous update, I expect 2-3 from CofC to join Kelsey here. Same with his staff, although there will be a couple that are external hires. Brian Kloman, Thomas Carr, and Eli Foy are three staffers I expect to come here immediately.

As far as current players, I wouldn’t hold your breath. Obviously these situations are very fluid, but PK operates entirely differently from KP. And it’s going to be up to the new staff and returning players to determine if they fit and if they’re going to be willing to be held to a different set of expectations.

I’d keep an eye on Jacob Meyer from Coastal Carolina as one just to wet your whistle.

Also, I’ll be out at the open football practice today. If you see me, say hello.

I’ll do a post about football practice, and will get a couple more basketball items up tonight.

Uconn reminds me of 2013

Uconn reminds me a lot of Louisville's 2013 championship team. Although the type of players are different, the winning attitude and results are the same.

Both teams finished the regular season winning something like 15 out of 16, then cruised through their conference tournaments and were the overwhelming #1 overall seed.

Both were picked by the pundits to win the championship. Louisville did, coming off a final 4 the year before. Uconn looking for back to back titles. Something Louisville came a few lousy whistles away from doing in 2014.

Against UK of all teams.

And guess who Louisville would have played in the final in 2014? Uconn.

At that time, we were equals. Not even close now.

Uconn in very impressive. They are the best team.

OT: Double Post ICYMI - Cards have most MLB players on opening day

i posted this in baseball forum but figure most don't go there so thought Cards deserved some props. Most players on opening day roster than any college.

Cards have more players on MLB opening day roster than any college!!!

Louisville baseball has become an MLB hotbed of talent during the last decade.

The Cardinals had nine big leaguers on Opening Day rosters, the most of any college in the country, according to Baseball America.

Will Smith, a Kentucky Country Day product who recently signed a 10-year extension with the Los Angeles Dodgers, tops the list of former Cards in MLB. The rest are Henry Davis, Reid Detmers, Bobby Miller, Chad Green, Tyler Fitzgerald, Adam Duvall, Bryan Hoeing and Nick Burdi.

Smith and Duvall are the All-Stars (2023 for Smith, 2016 for Duvall) and World Series champions (2020 for Smith, 2021 for Duvall) among the Cards.

Duvall won a Golden Glove as a right fielder for the Atlanta Braves. Smith also made the All-MLB second team in 2022. Detmers threw a no-hitter in May 2022 and threw an immaculate inning in July 2022.

Miller made the All-Rookie second team in 2023.

The ACC has four of the top-15 schools with the most active players in MLB. The SEC leads with five. The Cards are the top program for MLB players, followed by Arizona State, Florida and Vanderbilt, which each have eight active players.

NCAA Tournament

Creating this thread to comment on the games. Just occurred to me seeing Armando Bacot in a Turbo Tax commercial there really is no such thing as amateur athletics which is kind of sad. If I was Will Wade I'd sue the NCAA as everything he did to get a show cause is legal now.

How did Miss State get a bid and an 8 seed? Did they beat Ky?

Football Lifetime Seat Licenses

I have a number of licenses in the Angel's Envy Club that I will be selling over the next few years, They're available in groups of two or four seats. Each pair of seats comes with a parking pass in the Bronze Lot for home football games.

These are right-of-use and first-right-of-refusal contracts between the seat owner and U of L. You buy it and own it as long as you want, after which you can sell it to someone else. Each license entitles you to purchase a ticket for any event in the football stadium including season football tickets, concerts, etc.

If anyone has an interest, please private message me above for more details on pricing, locations, and terms of purchase. The earlier you contact me, the better the selection to choose from...
