A lot of us have been concerned about current players transferring out. The vast majority would have to sit out a year if they transferred(I think that's still the case). If I were the incoming coach I would point that out to them, suggest that they stay through spring practice and see what the new staff is all about. If they don't like what they see they can transfer out at the end of the second semester. A lot of times youngsters don't think things through. They have people in their ear and a lot of times take action they later regret.

He has his eye on the Auburn job? With UofL being as good, if not a better job than Pudure, add that to the fact that Brohm is from Louisville as well as being a Uof L alumnus. Common sense told us that Brohm would take the Louisville job. And then there's the Auburn job. Which will probably come open after next season when Gus Malzahn buyout will be much smaller. If Brohm had taken the UL job & then the Auburn job came open after next season, it would be really hard for him to leave UL after only 1 year to take the Auburn job. But if the Auburn job came open after next year Brohm's 3rd year at Purdue It wouldn't be a problem to then take the better more prestigious Auburn job. I mean Auburn is Auburn with it's tradition, it's 87,000+ seat stadium & it's SEC membership. Auburn is one of the better coaching jobs in college football.

He went on to say that coming home can be a daunting challenge and he understands that. Also said that it was 100% not about the money and he would have received every penny from Louisville that he is going to get from Purdue.

"Purdue is believed to have sweetened Brohm’s current $4 million per-year deal to as much as $6 million annually, while offering additional incentives to stay. Louisville was believed to have made an offer of seven years and $35 million."

Brohm was the only guy people could agree on. Everyone else has their own plan B. People terrorizing trinity, and the free board is full of trolls. I love U of L football, but after tonight I have lost hope. Even our own journalists are essentially telling us we are in the crapper for years to come. I appreciate the honestly guys, but this is breaking my spirit.

I am really hoping that Tony elliott , the OC from Clemson < is one of the coaches that reached out to Tyra last night. He is young and exciting, and a coach that i think the players would really get behind. I am not interested in a G5 coach that also had no experience at a P5 school as an assistant.

I can honestly say the bridge jumping over this is embarrassing. As I said two weeks ago, if his name weren’t Brohm, there’d have been no urge to hire him. Relax, and realize there are plenty good coaches out there.Nothing against Brohm, but he’s the epitome of an overvalued stock at this point.

Chris Klieman who is the North Dakota State University coach. He has won three of the last four FCS championships, they are currently ranked #1 and are undefeated this season. He is 65-6 in five seasons as head coach, has beaten P5 schools and coached Carson Wentz. I know he probably doesn’t have recruiting ties to our area but he can hire coaches who do. He certainly knows how to win.

Not totally sour grapes and of course, not a completely analogous situation. Brohm made the decision that he thought was best for him - fine. That said, when UofL made it plain that it needed him - he failed to answer that call.

Any special feelings that the fan base had for him based upon the belief that there was a reciprocal feeling from him, should now be put to rest. At this point, he’s just another in a long list of guys that played here and, there’s really nothing special about that.

get off your high horse, if at your job, someone else said they were interested in you and simply wanted an interview you would have taken it because human nature would make you think they could make an offer you couldn't refuse. all coaches, every single one of them, listen. and every one of them gets a raise for not leaving. that's how the industry works. and if any one of you says, nope i wouldn't take the interview, i wouldn't want my current employer to value me more, and to pay me more, is totally full of crap. get over yourselves. he did what you would do. tyra did NOT MAKE HIM AN OFFER HE COULDN'T REFUSE- PURDUE DID. simple as that.

and he shouldn't have declined anything two weeks ago because as stated above, you never know if they were going to offer something he couldn't refuse and he didn't get the meeting until this week. so every single one of you on your high horse get off of it please. you are embarrassing yourselves. you are showing you have absolutely no sense of reality.

Revealing interview with Vince Tyra this morning on 790 KRD. Tyra made it clear he wants someone who is as excited about the Louisville job as he is. He felt like he was talking Brohm into the job, and Tyra said there are other candidates who will jump at the chance.

When the Pacers drafted Reggie Miller over Steve Alford the room erupted with boos. Ask Spike Lee how that turned out. Dan Issel was many UK fans first choice instead of Rick.

For those who do not know, my father worked as a VA Hospital administrator, and he was stationed in Louisville many years ago. That's how I came to know your town and the university somewhat. I like Louisville and the towns in the area- that is a pretty part of the country. I like the people who live there. I like having Louisville in the ACC.

Some guys just are not meant to coach their alma mater because they may not want to take on the task. It is an extra burden - if you fail, the failure will seem double. If you grew up in the same town and fail at your alma mater, the failure will seem triply awful.

I think there are several guys who can win at Louisville, and each of them should have an interest in the job. Alphabetically, they are: Neal Brown, Luke Fickell, Josh Huepel, Mike Norvell, Scott Satterfield, and Matt Wells.

Wells may prefer to stay out West, but for a number of reasons Louisville is a better job than Texas Tech.

Satterfield is the real deal. It won't be easy to lure him from his alma mater, but he might be ready if that offer comes from an ACC school.

Norvell is a battler of a coach. This year began rough, and he righted the ship and again won the division.

Huepel has only 1 year as HC, but it was a very tough task to take over an undefeated team and keep it undefeated through at least the regular season. He did a great job reviving the Missouri offense as OC. His personality is perfect to counteract the Petrino 'issues.'

Fickell has done more at Cincy in a short time than I thought possible. His time as Ohio St DC means he has major ability to hire a top staff and get the ears of HS coaches and players.

I really like Brown, and I do not think his UK background means anything. Darryl Royal played for OU. Vince Dooley played for Auburn. If Brown wants the Louisville job, he is a good bet to make it work.

Here is a guy that left Central Florida after a undefeated season and goes back to his school but our hometown boy cant leave 7-6 school and come back to his hometown that is really weird to me

Although I, like most UofL fans, selfishly wanted Coach Brohm to come take over the Louisville program, I am happy to see him honor his commitment to the Purdue program. In this day and age of commit/decommit, one-and-dones, and coaches job hopping...it's nice to see a guy honor the promises he made when he took over a program. This only raises my perception of Jeff Brohm as a coach and person. So, with that said, I will definitely be watching him and his career at Purdue and rooting for him to do great things. Congratulations to the the Brohm family and Purdue fans.

7 am Update - No word just yet. I would expect the first word we will hear today will be about a team meeting scheduled at Purdue.

8:30 Update - Brohm is in West Lafayette. We know that. And he hasn't gone recruiting yet today.

10 am Update - No word yet. No word of a team meeting or a decision.

10:45 - Jeff's agent is with him in West Lafayette. That means they are reviewing contracts, and I would bet they have qualifying offers from both schools. I don't think money is the issue at all.

11:05 Update - WDRB is reporting Purdue has called a Team Meeting for 11 am. Not sure about this report because... 1. It is after 11. Unless that means 11 Central? And 2. Purdue players aren't in a meeting.

He is the best candidate to take our program back to where we want it. Young, hungry, great recruiter, NFL experience, great playcaller, High Power 5 experience, would be able to assemble a top notch staff. He would provide the shot of excitement and energy our program needs.

This coaching search reminds me of the Big XII fiasco. We were pretty sure that was gonna happen and when it didnt, it was like a punch in the gut. But in the end it worked out much better for us.

Would still like Brohm here but I think there are better candidates out there if he doesnt pick the Ville.
