Does the ACC profit from Notre Dame football

The SEC and Big Ten do not want Notre Dame to join the ACC, they want them to come to their league. ND joining the ACC keeps the ACC alive and kicking a little longer. Those two want the ACC to fall apart so they can pick up teams like ND, FSU, Clemson, and Miami and then see if there's value in teams like Louisville, UNC, etc. They'll do all they can to prevent ND from joining the ACC, but when that ACC agreement is gone then they'll push ND to join a conference so that those 2 leagues are the only game in town, which will increase their value.

The SEC and Big Ten's ultimate goal is to destroy the value of the ACC, Big 12, and G5 as much as they can and then they become their own league and become the #2 officially in revenue competing with the MLB, NBA, etc. Because as of today, CFB has a lot of value but it's spread out. The SEC and Big Ten expansion has pushed it closer, but they basically want to become like the pros where their games are the only ones that matter. There's still some value to ACC, Big 12, etc. games and even a Boise/UNLV game. Their goal is to basically make anything not those 2 leagues a minor league and strip all the value.

Cards Officially 2nd Highest ACC NET Team

After last night’s action, we inched ahead of Pitt/UNC/Clemson to move up to #28 in the NET Rankings. That makes us the 2nd highest ranked ACC team.

Bodes well for the stretch run for seeding. I love getting back to checking for articles, rankings and bracket projections in January again!! It’s been too long and hard to fathom with where we were in the Net Rankings a year ago at this time 😳

Cards Back In the Top 25

With college basketball, really where you are ranked in a Coaches or AP Poll in mid January does nothing more than add inches to your Richard.

In 1986 we were anywhere from 18th to no higher than 13th after losing twice in the Garden in the Preseason NIT until beating Memphis in the two final weekends Pre NCAA Tourney. We went into the Tourney at 7th.

In 2009 we were the NCAA Tourney Overall Number One seed. On January 12th we were 20th in the AP Poll.

In 2013 we were somewhat controversially the Tourney Overall Number One seed despite being 5th in the AP, but we rolled through our last Big East Tourney and obliterated a Syracuse that was Final Four bound. We were a season low 18th in the AP in the January 13th Poll.

In that context where we are ranked on January 13th, 2025...has Zip, Zero, Nada and Zilch to do with where we will be sitting on Selection Sunday. If you want to know the whole truth, it's probably going to be hard to do this, but I just want to get seeded high enough to play the first two rounds in Rupp. Talk about ReviVille...a fanbase starved for March with the short drive over to Lexington would be a springboard inconceivable from where we were sitting a year ago.

Cards Back In the Top 25

I know some are tired of my "rankings" obsession, but the more and more one looks into it, the more ridiculous it is that a team like Louisville isn't ranked.

Take Gonzaga for example. They are #16 with four losses, all to ranked teams and two of those teams are no longer ranked. (UCLA, WVU)

The Zags have two wins against ranked teams, one no longer ranked in Indiana and the other, Baylor is ranked #25. So why exactly is Gonzaga ranked 16th?

Louisville has the far better resume and yet, can barely get any votes.

Some Top NIL Programs Struggling

I don't think anyone outside knows for sure. But IU has a huge donor base and Arky has big Tyson chicken money. Lol
And wal mart and JB trucking. Those 3 contribute A LOT to that area. I was down there for an interview last year and it was crazy how much that little college town has grown and is growing and its due to all 3 of them.

Rather have Ohio State

I think the initial seeding process will be altered. However I don’t think it would have changed the end result. Maybe if Oregon faced Notre Dame.
Possibly, but just think about a typical playoff bracket. 1, 4, 5 and 8 would be on one side of the bracket and 2, 3, 6 and 7 would be on the other side. With 12 teams after 1st round byes, if everything played out by seeding, #3 (ND) would play #6 (OSU) in the quarterfinals, not semis and certainly not championship.

Does the ACC profit from Notre Dame football

No idea if my take is right but North Carolina supports Louisville because of basketball. Maybe even because how Louisville invest in sports. The ACC has to be strong in basketball it is the roots of the conference. A bad ACC negatively impacts recruiting even for UNC.

By the way they need to fire their coach and go get Beard-Pearl-Hurley. They can’t be an average program.
