I don't know where you're seeing speed in our LB'ers, they are usually running from behind trying to catch up. They're kinda like my old dog, he pursues but isn't fast enough to catch anything.
Lol that’s funny. But to answer your question, they are fast but get sucked up by every fake made. In other words, they get themselves out of position to where even speed isn’t enough for them to recover. A LB’er has to be one of the smartest players on the field. My point still holds, we need prototypical LB’ers.

Brohm and other ACC coaches must protest the performance of these Officials

If the Wall Street Journal were to do an in-depth cut piece on the ACC and its Refs, the ACC crapshow would be over. Of course any of the universities which collaborated with the WSJ ACC cut piece would become dead meat.

The ACC is a bunch of snooty empty heads. All Hat, no Tobacco.

And now every university in The ACC has become a full-fledged whore to the money gods.

This is where it all leads.

The sooner there's a federal investigation into college sports professionalism and non-profit status, and the effects of gambling on college sports outcomes, it will become fairer for most of us.

What Manny thinks

This has been the most frustrating thing about this season. The bad refs is old news and I expected it, but I am totally perplexed by the play calling coming from the Brohms.

I watched quite a bit of Purdue games under Brohm and I have maybe seen just a handful of those offensive sets here at Louisville. I was surprised last season but figured it was a lack of confidence in Plummer, but it's been even worse this season with Shough.

Misdirection was a big staple of Purdue's offense and defenses had to prepare and deal with that instead of just waiting for play action or running off tackle. I'm not suggesting a bunch of tricks plays like RB's passing the ball. I'm talking more WR reverses, jet sweeps, more in motion receivers using misdirection to get the studs the ball in space.

I think another poster suggested maybe Brohm feels now he can run a more traditional offense now that he's at his destination job? I can see how he may want that, but he has to see how even programs like Alabama and Texas are no longer just traditional offenses. Georgia is and just look at their struggles offensively.

As for the inability to get one frigging yard that's just plain stubbornness by Brohm and he has seemingly failed to realize the opponents are right there waiting for the obvious play call. The one time Brohm decided to run outside on 4th and 1, he used his slowest RB which absolutely drove me nuts.

I do realize Brohm knows more about football than I could ever have, but there is a distinctive change in his offensive philosophy since coming to Louisville. Maybe it starts to work against Miami and I would say great job, but something tells me if we don't get creative against the Hurricanes, we won't score enough points.

I can’t remember what I had for breakfast.

That said, I don’t recall this kind across-the-board complaining about BE refs.

ACC is the WORST.

As I’ve said several times, the ACC was literally forced to take us in. We were the best of what they considered “dregs”.

Now, they know they can do what they wish to us because we will NOT walk away form the “conference money” 🙄. Even though they are not going to let that money advance us.

We can have the best coaches, facilities, NIL or whatever, and it will not beat the strategic “phantom” holding, PI, Illegal Formation call.

As said above, all we can do is bitch.
"As said above, all we can do is bitch."

Yep, and all anyone else can do is call us bitches...

The reputation of the athletic department took a major hit about a decade ago. Football and Women's CBB just collateral damage.

We were always looked down upon as a city college and the basketball side took hits for what sounds hilarious now, but back in the day, they used to attack us about graduation rates. No really! And while I know some people want to care about that stuff just look at the sports culture now.

So with that against us, then all the crap from a decade ago, really there's just nobody in our corner. Media in this city hates us. You don't have state politicians fighting for us like they would for a flagship school.

Look at everything that's happened down the road that just gets yawns. Media just looks other way on them. We have an assistant go rogue fire everybody and everyone still hates us.

Meanwhile ACC wants to pretend the Carolina schools are so perfect. UNC fake classes, Duke pushing NBA guys through for a semester or two. But, but Louisville.

I think at first UofL was set to just get screwed over a few early seasons in this league. But it's pretty apparent UofL football is not valued and neither is the basketball. Now that you think you might have a competitive team in hoops just wait for the refs to remind you who you are guys.

That first run @ Clemson where their DBs got away with assault on our WR's in the Lamar era let us know we were not going to just walk in and get good treatment. But I think now it's just become too much on the reg. They just don't want this program repping the league. The league was so bad last year we stole a title game shot vs FSU and you know the ACC just hated it. HATED IT!

So with that, I see no way out anytime soon on any of it. We just don't fit in with the big picture.

Maybe a move to a new league would give some kind of re-boot. Maybe. But as is, we are just left to yell at each other about it.
Great post! The ACC wipes its butt on Louisville because they can. Like you said, we have nobody in our corner. The commissioner Phillips just did a podcast the other day and reamed Louisville for being so bad in basketball the last 2 seasons and beating a couple of his league darlings. Somehow this made the league look bad to the national perception. We know He just had an opportunity to take a dig at the school he hates because the ACC performed better than any conference in the NCAA tournament.

We celebrated getting in the ACC but didn’t ever realize we didn’t fit in perception wise with those institutions and how it would effect us.

Saturday defensively

The ABC coverage may provide some protection from the horrible officiating that we experienced at ND, again at home against SMU and at UVA.

Nice contribution CardHack; my concern is not so much about defending Ward and Miami’s offense; it’s more about Kozmas’s OP where Navarro questions our own offensive production.

I have no expectations of UL stopping Miami from scoring points, as my concerns are with Jeff dialing up an offensive game plan where his play calling includes a lot more involvement with our TEs. Shough is incredibly accurate when given sufficient time in the pocket, so the quick short routes are the only way to mitigate Miami’s pressure.
JB is always saying “Take what they give you” so if he’s doing that they must not be giving the TE passes.

What Manny thinks

Regrettably, I must concur with both Koz and Navarro; this offense has failed to produce anywhere close to where most expected Jeff to have us at this time in the season.

Jeff Brohm has forgotten more about football than I will ever know, so I try and limit my criticism of the play calling. However, my one observation that I cannot move past this season, is seeing Jeff’s propensity for running the football when our passing game is producing more success, particularly in the 3rd and short yardage situations. I understand that opponents reading the signals in advance of the play is increasingly evident in both college and NFL …….. but it sure looks like both SMU and UVA knew exactly where our RB was going before the ball was snapped on those 3rd and 4th down plays.

The one UVA LB was moving as soon as the ball was snapped directly on a path between our LT and TE for the tackle behind our LOS. The LB ran directly to that spot before our RB received the handoff.

1st game November 4

Our first game will be November 4th in Paris in Oui, City of Lights Tournament. Louisville is ranked 17th in the preseason and they will play UCLA who is ranked #5 preseason. Lucky girls and staff going to Paris to start your season. I bet that didn’t hurt us on the recruiting trail. This incoming recruiting class was ranked 6th in the country by ESPN. The game will be televised nationally live on ESPN2 at 2:30 eastern time.

We get a lot of bad calls like the play where the Virginia runner was a yard away from the 1st down but the ref spotted it for a first down. Other teams in the conference have recently suffered major bad calls like VaTech and Cal. The refs cheated to get our next opponent Miami the win. Like the Fox Sports commentator mentioned the ACC is trying to determine who represents the ACC and they are doing with the refs. I really expect a lot of bad calls in the Miami game I hope I am wrong.
