Jaylin Brown Decommits

So this recruit realized he won't see the field much next season in a Cards uniform and decommited.
Hard to up that NIL deal when you can’t show your your stuff on the field.

He’ll go lower in class (G5) with a “good” deal, play and build his resume, then wait for us or somebody else to make a much better offer.

Pro ball Free Agent. Plain and simple.

Only losers are us fans. And many grow weary.

Is UK better then their record. Or just as bad

There were some things done offensively against Pitt formation wise that we haven't shown all year that I suspect will play a big role Saturday, not the least of which was Watson and Isaac Brown in the backfield at the same time.
The veil of deception can mean the world as you try to keep the defense off balance. It can be as simple as this...who's getting the ball?

Is UK better then their record. Or just as bad

In the two years Jeff has been the coach he has shown he's actually pretty conservative when he's got a lead which is one of the reasons why you don't see us really blowing the lid off a team. When you look back at the wins over Va Tech and Duke last year as well as Notre Dame they looked a lot like the Clemson game this year. Multiple score leads, take the air out of the ball and increase leads on the foot of your kicker.

The UK game fit that template but people spend too much time convincing themselves we lost because "Brohm took the foot off the accelerator". Fact is JJ Weaver made two huge plays defensively the 1st being the strip of Jawhar Jordan after a big run that was virtually identical to our "the shin was down" overturning of the fumble that we forced against SMU. The kickoff return turned the momentum towards UK; the plays by Weaver won the game.

If you ask me what has to happen Saturday to win the first thing I would say is put whoever is the QB down early and often and offensively run the football. I say that as a script for a normal game but the Governor's Cup has been anything but normal for us--you almost have to write in "maintain your composure" which is why having a Shough at QB and so many defensive players who have played in the game important for us. You shouldn't see a Malik Cunningham on tilt going after the UK sidelines or Chris Bell with two personal fouls. There were some things done offensively against Pitt formation wise that we haven't shown all year that I suspect will play a big role Saturday, not the least of which was Watson and Isaac Brown in the backfield at the same time. You could see Pitt check out of coverages a couple times when they were because you can't have linebackers covering either or both without eventually getting burned.

VIDEO: Your Opinion On PK Answer?

His answer irritated me at first because I did not like the rebounding effort in the first half, but after thinking about it he’s just standing up for his guys.

Refreshing after KP was just throwing players under the bus left and right the last 2 seasons.
That’s what I was saying above. We trashed KP for throwing players under the bus, then get mad at PK for defending them… also we didn’t rebound well, but we did have 10 blocks. When was the last time we had 10 blocks playing above the rim?

Competition is one thing when the two dudes you're competing with were just good prospects, but it's another thing when one becomes an All conference player and the other looks like he may be just as good.

Everyone is surprised how good Brown has been. It took three to four games before Brohm finally made him the #1 back. He looks like a 1st team conference player and will be going into next season.

No one saw Watson doing the same thing after Brown was injured. He is so good we may lose him because he's a #1 back himself.

So this recruit realized he won't see the field much next season in a Cards uniform and decommited.
I agree with what you are saying but let's say Watson and Turner do the same thing... Its the world we now live in.

The Cards don't dominate inside because neither Cochran or Harris are strong finishers and neither jump more than a few inches off the ground.

Neither have a knack for scoring inside because neither have many post play moves. Cochran has always wanted to play more on the perimeter and Harris is just not athletic enough.

And Walz can't seem to recruit an inside scoring threat. He has to go overseas and get two even less athletic post players.

This team is mostly just short guards. There's no athletic wing players he had during most of his success here.

Indiana

I can't believe any Cards fan would say we would have beaten IU for sure after knowing we have already lost two home games. Louisville would have probably been a double digit favorite and IU would have been hungry to beat a ranked team to prove themselves.

It could have easily been another one score loss.

Louisville blew what could have been a special season, especially after losing to SMU. If we would have lost just to Miami, we would be playing them in a rematch for the ACC championship. I can't believe we would have lost to Stanford with the ACC championship on the line.

SMU is very similar to Indiana as both are huge surprises and both are strong offensively. Louisville for whatever reason just wasn't able to beat SMU at home and it could have easily been the same had we played IU.

Is UK better then their record. Or just as bad

I believe we have positioned our football program where it is essential that we beat UK this season. I thought we beat them last year in every respect, except where it counts …… the final score.

I am sure there are many explanations for our loss to Stanford, but I remain convinced that Brohm “took his foot of the accelerator” when we went up by 15 points, thinking we could run the clock out in the 4th quarter. Jeff did the same thing in the 4th quarter at Death Valley, and despite giving Clemson every opportunity to get back into the game ….. running the clock worked out and we won.

I hope Jeff learned a lesson; specifically that every offensive possession should be about first downs and scoring points regardless of having a comfortable lead. If he expects the players to remain focused, he must do the same and avoid sending any messages about running the clock too soon.

Yes I saw that Koz; and we played UCLA even for the greatest portion of our contest with them.

I did not see our game at USF, but witnessed the “play by play”. We were up by 10, before USF closed it in the final 4 minutes, and they even took a one point lead in the last minute.

USF’s Brito is 5’11” tall but had 10 rebounds, and the tallest starter on USF was a 6’1” guard. Nyla and Olivia each had 9 rebounds, but it begs the question as to why we cannot dominate the inside in those few times when we have huge size advantage?

College Football Playoff

This is why there should not be a committee. Objective criteria are all that matter. We need to get opinions out of the process of determining playoff participants. Then we will be closer to an NFL model, which is fair.
I agree and look what kind of juggernaut the NFL has become. Every game matters but unlike the NFL where there are meaningless games at the end of the year that won’t have in college. The conferences are too balanced. The 3-4 spot in each conference could have 3-5 teams competing for that spot. We are seeing it this year for 2nd place. Correction Syracuse would be the 4th team not Louisville unless they lose to Miami. A lot of Louisville fans would be matching that game.

The talking head focus would have to shift to talking about the actual games. Not idiots predicting-influencing the future.

Is UK better then their record. Or just as bad

UK has played a really tough schedule. They just been over matched on offense. I wouldn’t be surprised to see Boley get a start. True freshman but they really like him.

They will come to play. It is the one game if they win their fans will forgive them for awful season and talk themselves into the future is bright. Lose and it will be a miserable offseason.

Same applies to Louisville. Really good season or a failure that is how fans will view it depending on outcome.
