Rather have Ohio State

In terms of P4 football I think they are pretty high on the list. Bottom line a player can get paid and take advantage of the ND education/alumni network that is pretty hard to beat. Dawson going to ND makes a ton of sense to me.

There just aren’t many schools in the country that have that kind of package.
Fair enough. ND is a great place to study and play.

Returning Players?

So I've heard, according to the new rulings, that Hadley could return next season as well.

Wonder if both Pryor and Johnson will return to UofL too?

If so the Cards would have:

Brown
Rodgers
Johnson
Rooths
Hadley
Pryor
Khalifa
Scott

Pretty solid core there. Add in some transfers from the portal and maybe another freshman or two.
I think unfortunately, some of those names will enter the portal. I think Johnson for sure with the phenom PG Brown coming in. Rooths is another one as he's just scratched the surface on how good he can be.

However, transfers in the portal are going to be more interested in a Louisville program coming off 20+ wins instead of 8. I think dudes see what Kelsey has going here and Louisville will add a couple top transfers.

The rosters from now on will be more balanced and talented but hopefully just as tenacious and dedicated.

THERE'S A NEW FU%&ING SHERIFF IN TOWN.. L YES!!!!

I don't get the whole L's down reaction. Texas fans have been putting up with 'horns downs" for literally forever. It means nothing.
MY friends that are sUcKs fans stopped doing it around me years ago because my wife and I don't care. They do it because it gets to us and read a forum on here and see how people react when they see it at games on TV.

"OMG THEY ARE SO OBSESSED! THAT IS DISRESPECTING OUR INSTITUTION I AM SO MAD! UGGHHH!!!!" and we all know the scowl.

It's a hand gesture. Notice in football that they stopped doing it this year because we were winning. What made us mad about it most was we were losing and they were doing it. Win on the field and court and it stops. It's not a big deal to me. I'll throw my L's up back at anyone, they want to throw it down then that's them and not me.

Does the ACC profit from Notre Dame football

" ... that some fans think we get extra credit or recognition that ND plays us and ACC opponents ... " - Newsflash, WE DO.

" ... but they are also smiling and giving us the middle finger by not "joining" as an actual member." -- so what? You think UNC, or UVA, or Duke really want U of L in their conference?? Hell no they don't. So why should we care if ND does that?

Does ND deserve their special treatment by all of college football? That's a debate that has raged for the past 20-30 years. And it will continue to be debated.

But BECAUSE they have this special place in college football, we DO get extra credit for beating them. That's just a fact.

I'm rooting for ND over Ohio State because Ohio State fans are numerous, and insufferable.

.
Did you ever think that ND doesn't play a SEC or B10 schedule because maybe they might lose and God forbid, miss a bowl game?

I do think your wrong about ACC schools not wanting U of L in the conference. We were only 1 of 2 teams to win a freaking bowl game this year. Up until the Pitino/Mack/Payne fiasco we heped give the ACC the reputation of being the best basketball conference in the country. I know it has to do with Coach K, Roy, Boeheim and Bennett retiring but I also think when we went down so did the ACC. Oh, and I didn't have to put in ALL CAPS for you.

The difference is with other fanbases you don't see those gestures as much except at actual sporting events. In Kentucky, its 24/7 L's down anywhere and everywhere. Its basically a fu or a middle finger in your face with sincerity. I learned that when I moved away for my job and lived in NC for 25 years.

New rule for Volleyball

They delayed the ruling until after commitments were made for the pros. I think they did not want to hurt the pro game and it would have if all the players knew they could come back another year.
I'm pretty sure this also applied to Anna DeBeer. We thought she had used up her eligibility or perhaps she was contemplating a pro career but I remember the day she sent out a text message to CardNation saying "I'm back!!!!"

What's ahead for this Cards team.

I see us going 9 and 5 the rest of the way. I just hope we don't have any bad losses if we are a bubble team.

Agree with "TheRealVille" on the development / improved play of Scott, Traore, and Rooths. All 3 should only dunk the ball. No other shots. Also, hoping Waterman's thumb continues to heal. Would like to see him rest it if we don't need him for a win.

I wonder how many teams have a players who have scored at least 26 points in a game this year. I believe we have 4.

It's been fun thus far but hoping for excitement in March!
Well, if we lose 5 more games against this schedule, there will be bad losses. More than half of those games will be against teams not making the tournament, maybe even the post season.

Well said Pervis! There will always be some anti-ND folks who refuse to give credit where credit is due, but in truth there is no other college football program in America that could stand independent, and still compete for a NC like ND.

Here is another way to look at it if Notre Dame joined the conference the ACC wouldn’t collapse and it would put the ACC right behind the SEC and Big Ten. They are the one brand that moves the needle for basically whomever they partner with.

If the other brands ever stop playing Notre Dame, Big Ten and SEC teams, they may consider joining the ACC if they keep all their TV money-no revenue sharing with them. It would be the one thing that may force them to at least play a conference schedule. They have said they want to play a national schedule. Even with USC and Texas A&M their schedule was blah. Take those away their schedule looks like a P5 schedule. It won’t happen but that may be the only way they semi join a conference.

Keep in mind they are taking SEC and Big 10 spots away in the playoff. Cut them off force them into ACC or Big Ten.

Rather have Ohio State

They’re good academically. I would stop short of “elite”.

If we hit a cold-shooting stretch, we could lose more. Right now we are playing very well. I just wish CPK had a little longer bench. I think we sneak in to the tournament and win one game.
We're already a cold shooting team and we're winning anyway. If it takes sneeking into the tournament that means the Cards will lose 6 or more games against that schedule.

I just don't see it. ACC teams that are usually good like Virginia, NC State, Virginia Tech, Miami, and Syracuse are all very bad and could all end up with losing records.

If the Cards continue to play at least as good as they have been so far, they're not sneeking into anything. But I think they're only going to improve as Scott, Troure and Rooths improve.

Both men and women's teams

I don't disagree, we simply aren't going to jump 20+ spots.
Why not? It's not unprecedented in AP poll history. It doesn't or shouldn't matter to voters where the teams were ranked the week before.

Had the Cards beaten Duke and Clemson instead of Pitt and Clemson, would you still think they wouldn't be ranked? What if it were Duke and UK?

Is there no scenario that Louisville would jump 20 spots after winning two games last week? Do you think UK or Duke or Kansas couldn't pull that off? It's not unprecedented for a team to go from not receiving votes to being ranked a week later. I don't remember the actual teams but I remember the stories about it happening.

Voters could think they had underestimated the Cardinals and now believe they're a top 25 team.

What I believe is It's still the stink of the past two seasons that some voters still consider when they shouldn't. How can any knowledgeable college basketball voter not think Louisville is a top 25 team with the results so far?
