Why? He acts like Louisville fills a 100K stadium every home game. They don’t and is precisely why they don’t have the money of the schools that do. Ask Mr Zipp where that money he sees is at to pay these assistants 2 mil a year? He’s dreaming. If you're going to debate Zipp then you need to get better ammunition and comprehension.
If you're going to debate Zipp then you need to get better ammunition and comprehension. So you want to pay English more lmao?
Not really sure what you're saying here but I dare say there's probably 134 Division 1 teams that would want a coach with the caliber and more importantly record of a Spurrier and that even includes Alabama. Thats not why I wanted Brohm. We didn't get him because he was hot. I wanted a coach that had a passion for U of L football and the city of Louisville period. I firmly believe he wants what I want, a chance at a NC, but I don't expect it to happen overnight and he's certainly not above criticism. If changes aren't made then yes, he will be questioned.Too much criticism by fans over coaches in general is prevelant all over the country. Everyone is an expert and think replacing coaches is the answer. It's ridiculous! Just look at the idiotic comment in this thread about getting rid of Brohm.
Satterfield was the man after his first season here. What happened? Did he all of a sudden forget how to coach? Don't think so. Look at Cincinnati this season.
Ron English is a coach who was here before and was destined to be criticized once the defense struggled. I happen to agree with those who wasn't thrilled he accompanied Brohm from Purdue, but what did I really know?
I knew we had studs coming back and had more depth, especially on the D-Line. I figured English was good enough to continue the good defense we had before he got here. I'm not sure he is.
But at the same time, maybe it's a combination of above average offenses the Cards are seeing and key injuries that is the issue? From what I've seen I think English hasn't been able to prepare the defense before the game starts.
He seemingly has to make adjustments after just a few possessions and for the most part, he's had some success. However, against an offense like Miami and SMU, he just wasn't able to make enough adjustments to slow down the offenses. Brohm bringing him down to the field I believe was mostly for Brohm being able to chastise him face to face.
Alabama fans are already questioning their new coach when they had to know there was going to be a dip after losing Saban. Louisville fans expected Jeff Brohm to be the next Steve Spurrier and when it doesn't happen, some suggest looking for someone else.
I think most of us know that would be a disaster and no hot coach would ever consider coming here.
If we can’t beat them this year we’re pathetic. They have no offense whatsoever.Regrettably, this UK roster is very talented and will be a huge challenge for us. Their record is misleading and a result of some incredibly poor performances against two teams (SC and Vandy) who turn out to be a lot better than anyone could have expected.
If we beat the cats this year; all will be forgotten about earlier disappointments
It’s the corners covering those skinny post routes we keep getting burned on not the LB’s, but I agree the LB’s are too small and their speed doesn’t help them fight through blocks and make tackles. Our other big problem is safety’s and corner’s who can’t make a solo tackle. They try to hit high and get knocked off the tackle. They need to hit low with their heads up but that takes giving up your body.LB's without question are the worst unit on the field. They can't cover a seam route and run themselves out of the play then can't tackle if they do manage to be in the right gap.
Yeah we do but why when you don’t have to. Your hung up on the Zipp money train. Brohm has been in cfb for awhile and knows people. He thought English could do the job, and to be honest, he hasn’t done bad considering the much better competition he’s had to face then our prior defensive coordinators did. Nobody ever factors in SOS. Tell me when the last time Louisville had the 22nd strongest schedule in the land?I think that we may lack the means to pay as other Power 4 programs do. I.e., pUKe has 3 coordinators who are making $1.5 million a year. In fact, their lowest paid assistant is at 500k. Stoops is at 9 Big plus a year. I just don't think we have that kind of jack for the assistants/coordinators.
So you want to pay English more lmao?In today’s dollars, we paid Grantham about $1.7 million almost a decade ago. Garrick McGee got around $1.1 million, inflation adjusted.
It’s not a debate whether a coach actually earned what he was paid. The issue is that we could pay it many years ago. Now, we have to settle or hope we get lucky.
(Odd how when you need luck, it seldom happens.)
