There is no perfect system that can eliminate “injustices” like what we see; however, the influence by Disney via its ownership of both ESPN and ABC shows a blatant disregard for any hint of objectivity or effort in impartiality.

My admonition over the death of amateur sports rings prettybhollow now, as there is no way to resurrect the past. It started decades ago when the Olympic Committee opened the door for professional athletes to compete in the games. The NCAA’s own negligence and unequal application of their own Investigation, Infraction and Punishment Committees resulted in the ultimate disrespect and weakening of the organization as a whole.

I expect the influences of greed and power will continue to gain momentum in High School and Grade Schools, as the underlying principles of NIL have no limitations.

Div III uses data to select the playoff teams. Very specific metrics to rank their teams. They do have regional limits to reduce travel.

The ESPN and SEC arrogance is on full display. Everyone knows it. It is all unnecessary. They will always have 1-3 teams that can win a title. Zero reason to lobby this hard. They have the SEC network let Finebaum do his thing over there. That is fine and appropriate. Don’t bring his clear bias to the big show. Then don’t turtle up when UT gets smoked. When they do all this lobbying their credibility is lost.

Colorado gets Liability insurance for all players for bowl game, no one skipped

This makes sense and expect that it will be a precedent-setting initiative for a lot of schools to follow. However, the cost will be passed on to the season ticket holders. Looks like wealthy alumni at schools like Colorado, IU, and Vanderbilt have decided to do whatever possible to move out of their respective conference cellars.

I looked at the average salary of a professional women’s volleyball player and it is very low. Wouldn’t it be more rewarding for a player to stay in college as long as possible and make more NIL money? If so why not try to retain some of the players we already have.
I am sure that is true. But, we don’t have anyone on the ‘stud’ category to try and retain. I am not too worried about players leaving.

I think one of the problems is that there is no reliable source of NIL deals. For any sport. Or any player group or any conference.

I mean is it $500 per season for a field hockey player? $4,000,000 per season for a presumed FB Stud?

NIL stuff is both unregulated and unknown.

But, yes, the Professional VB salaries are just beginning to rise. So we don't know how high they'll go.
