I believe that the NCAA selection committee has way too many conflicts of interest and they should bring in a 3rd party maybe a arbitrator type deal
Time to let AI pick the field of 64, take the influence AD's have on picks, seeding and placement out of the equation. Feed the data of all teams, using the rating systems, Ken Pom etc., into the computer and let it do the seeding and placing the most 64 deserving teams. One metric could be the made for TV match-ups, AI can do it all and fairly.

I stand corrected Lefors; appreciate the qualification. I do not disagree with the majority of the points you just made above.

In all fairness, my point is actually coming from a different perspective, one that admittedly may be a bit disingenuous to your position. In fact, my issue is entirely with ESPN, Lunardi and the undue influence they have on the NCAA selection Committee that not only picks the teams, but seeds them conveniently to further meet their own expectations.

I have been consistent all year in recognizing that Florida, Tennessee, Auburn, Alabama and even UK are each excellent, and worthy of their seeding; it’s the other 9 schools that I find as beneficiaries of more indoctrination, than information. It rises to negligence when not applying objective consideration to the other Power conferences and mid major schools, when the SEC was consuming all of the accolades.

Yes, anyone could make an argument for TXA&M, TX, Missouri, Arkansas and all the rest of those SEC schools who were included, but at what expense is it to all the other schools who were denied any serious consideration, particularly given the selection process is behind closed doors and fails to follow any consistent and identifiable criteria?

I believe (my exact numbers may not be 100% accurate) going into today’s games, the BIG 10 is 9-1, BIG 12 6-1 while the SEC is 8-6. Can anyone deny that perhaps the BIG 10 & 12 Conferences were worthy of more consideration given their actual performance?

Bottom line, my issue is with ESPN, Lunardi and those influential media using in the volume of TV, Internet, Radio and Print to advance their own agenda.

My Thursday Trip to Lexington

Corrupt Arena was built for one reason, it wanted to be the biggest, and in so doing, it sacrificed everything else. All UK wanted was large attendance numbers.

Back in the day, my business interest included Eastern KY (coal) and I ended up meeting a lot of huge UK supporters, one of which was connected to Dawhares in Lexington. At the time, that clothing store was given priority for all season tickets that required donations; all of which were delivered to Joe B Hall, as a way to provide recruiting dollars for players. I held my nose while obtaining those season tickets for our clients who were UK fans. On one occasion, I had to host a client to one of those games when Barkley (Auburn won) was playing. At Freedom Hall, I was accustomed to being seated down close to the floor, but the tickets we had at UK (admittedly “nose bleeds”), were so bad that even my UK guest questioned why UK would built an arena where the view was so bad for most of the audience? I never returned.

Bridgeman Funeral

I have followed Junior from the time Denny signed him out of East Chicago Washington, after watching his #1 recruit and Junior’s HS teammate Pete Trgovich sign with UCLA. It was easy following Junior, as he was not only the owner of those many local Wendy’s restaurants, it was not uncommon to see him working inside the one at the corner of Bardstown RD and Grinstead, as he was demonstrating the leadership that was a significant ingredient of his life.

Perhaps what serves for me as an indication as to just how special Junior was as a human being, was witnessing the very long term and close relationship that Junior had with Bob Russell at SECC. Bridgeman was truly a man of faith with incredible integrity, most humble and caring for those around him.

His 12-15 ft “off the class bank shots” while at UL will remain etched in my memory, but it was his life after basketball that is a testament to what a great person that he was.

VaTech game2

I am totally aware of what he did last year. It also took home quite a while to start making that big impact at the plate. He is a hacker. When he connects he generally hits the ball hard. Problem is he missing more than he connects. He is below average with breaking balls. If we need to advance a runner or need a clutch hit I can think if several others I’d rather see at the plate. And, to be clear, I don’t dislike EKJ. I do think he has underperforms for most of his career. I think he is very athletic but lacks baseball IQ.
You’re a baseball manager. One of your best ball players is struggling at the plate. Do you bench him and hope his woes get fixed while on the pine, or do you keep the faith, build his confidence, and let him work things out during game action? Also, your team is #16 in the county while you work through this

We got a live lineup. Hot hitters. One hitter having trouble isn’t a killer.

Bridgeman Funeral

Went to the funeral today. Saw a lot of past players. Said hello to Doc Rivers. But that’s not the story. I met Junior back about 1988. His son was in the band at Male with my daughter. Doris and my wife worked the fb concession stand a couple of times. Still not the story.
Speakers were David Novak, Paul Thompson(bus. connection), Kevin Cosby, Star Jones, Chauncey Billops and Bob Russell. All had great stories. What came through is how humble, hard working and faith based he was (first Wendy’s was in Milwaukee the hood; didn’t go great until he bailed out one the workers and things took off, because the employees realized how much he cared). He would work until midnight and then drive home to Louisville. We could all do well to follow his example on how to live.
You can watch the entire service on YouTube.
REST IN PEACE JUNIOR
