FB RECRUITING: USC QB Miller Moss Commits To Cards

I think he prefers smart QB’s that mentally can grasp his playbook. That also comes with the QB’s camp wanting to play for Brohm. If the rumors are true that he turned down a higher offer to play the speaks for itself. Couple things that means he knows what he is looking for in a coach, good leadership instincts and he also understands the financial side of NIL. Louisville should be able to find him some good pieces.

It is surprising Jeff isn’t a huge fan of mobile QB’s or he hasn’t found the right one.

200k for a kid and their family is like 5 year salary. Bottom line it is a lot of money for a lot of these kids.

I do agree if he made the jump to UK or a school that has zero offensive identity that would not be smart. Mainly because he would be hurting his future evaluations either in the portal or NFL. Oregon is a really good fit for him that hypothetical 200K makes the decision an easy one. Have to keep in mind Louisville may have been given the opportunity to match and decided not to.

I don’t think many of these deals are an indicator of the kids character. It is a business decision. The staff was apparently aware this was going to happen. I think what Boone and Barrow did last summer was an indicator of their or their agents character.

The amount doesn’t matter what we do know they are making $$$. The owner of Barstool basically said they spent millions to get the freshman QB. Johnny football said they told Texas A&M his price was 2M-3M to keep him. The fact is it is a money decision.

When 90 percent of the SEC transfers that matter end up at another SEC school money is the deciding factor at least for the kids entering the portal.

Look at SEC basketball all of sudden they are dominating. Wonder why?

I don’t think they are all mercenaries but I think a high percentage are and I don’t blame them. Van Lith isn’t play pro but she has been very smart on maximizing this small window. Same with Johnson let’s say the difference was only 50K he still in a good spot for his skill while making more money.
Let’s say it’s 1 million vs 1.2 million. Let’s also say you are very likely to start next season and you really like where you are. I guess some would jump for that, but if that’s the basis of a decision I’m not sure I want that guy for a teammate.

How do we know what these guys are getting paid? I suspect it is less than we think. Also, there’s more to a job than just money. What if these guys have an inkling they may not make the league and actually like the place they’re at for, dare I say it, academic reasons? Let’s say they like their professors, like their majors, like the continuity, like their coaches, the community, etc? Is it always that kids are total mercenaries? How much more can they actually pull? There has to be more to these decisions than “a few dollars more”.

I have an alternate take...what if you are reasonably sure you're not going to play Pro Football or play at a professional level regardless of sport. That's exactly what Van Lith did, maximizing her earning potential in college because when it's all said and done she is a 5"7 not exactly athletic shooting guard. If there is some sort of 3v3 league maybe she can earn off that, but moving forward she's not somebody that will have a career in the WNBA and her LSU stint made that abundantly clear.
