UofL guard Quentin Snider will be out 2-3 weeks with a strained hip flexor

I hold the opinion that he is over worked and that the backups are lost because they have not received ample playing time.

That is my opinion and i fully believe it.

Would like to see johnson get 15-20 minutes a game and for the mindgames to relax a little, but that is my opinion on my teams opinion board.

That's fine, but your opinion is absurd. Would you be fine taking losses while the backups develop? I highly doubt it.

The best players play the most minutes. Back ups develop in practice and need to be ready to play when called upon. That's how high major D1 basketball works.

Our backups are fine, by the way. This idea that they're lost - because I guess Coach Pitino doesn't know what he's doing - is absolutely ridiculous.

I would be happy if my opinion was proven wrong, but you can not treat all players the same.
Johnson was a double double machine. I believe he is capable of double doubles and making our backline even tougher.
The mind games have bothered him.

That is my honest opinion and i hope we get through it soon because we need him.

He is a solid double double guy and he dunks the ball.

You believe what you want. I believe what i want and we move on.

I hope we start getting the most out of our players and make a solid run for a title.

We have the team to do it.

So, I get that what you said regarding Johnson was your opinion but, I'm curious to know what has given you the opinion that he's a double-double machine?

His last actual D-D was against Long Beach on 11/17. Since that game he has averaged 6.5 / 5.5 - which includes the games that he started - which stopped after the UVA game. Not only that but, against the quality teams that we've played (conference, IU, uk, Bay. WSU & Purdue) he's avg. 5.7 & 4.2.

Coaches aren't in the habit of demoting double-double guys and Pitino is no different - no mind games here - Johnson simply wasn't getting it done. He reminds me of Charles Jones - has more talent but less heart.

Q has been playing all these minutes because he got off to a slow start at the beginning of the season. He's now playing at the level we need a PG to be. He's increased his assist average and low and behold his scoring has increased as well. It's called development. If CRP had given those minutes to someone else, he may not be playing as well as he is now. The issue is we don't want him peaking too soon but the injury might be a blessing if he doesn't lose a beat when he comes back and in the meantime Hicks and Levitch get valuable minutes, King as well although indirectly.

Charles Jones? Are you kidding me? Bad comparison. Charles Jones was shy and an introvert because of his background. But he had passion and a lot of heart, he just didn't show it. I remember talking to him about whether he actually got a piece of Minnifield's ball in the first dream game.

I will never question a kids heart....
All I can say is not every kid responds well to mind games.

Levitch played well against two lottert picks and has seen limited time since then.

Johnson is the strongest big we have and is a great rebounder.

I hope we work through this stretch and grow as a team.

If we get through this and develop depth, we stand a great chance of cutting nets down.

Again, it seems based on your post you've misunderstood me. I think Johnson has more natural talent than Jones but, that Jones played with more heart and passion. They both strike me as limited athletically - not very flexible specifically. Jones definitely played to his strengths - rebounding and defense - whereas JJ seems to want to be a stretch 4 - which at least at this point, he's not.

Overworked.....
Should not have been tasked to play 35-40 minutes a game.

Now we are behind because Hicks has been kept on the bench.

Hopefully this injury helps us develop depth and players actually get to play.

Mitchell can play point, king can play the 2 guard.

Mcmahon and levitch need some clock as well.
He played 35-40 minutes because he's by far the best option. Mitchell isn't a point guard. Hicks is what he is. Not much room for development. McMahon needs to stay on the bench. Levitch is probably the best bet but he's not going to make many plays. Agree King needs to play more but he kills you defensively.

Lmao
Deng Adel is not what people say he is. I have not seen it.
Levitch held his own agains 2 lottery picks and has not seen the floor since.

If we desire a run in march pitino needs to use Hicks. Bot playing hurts players. The mind games effect kids differently.
Johnson was a double double guy and because of the ridiculous mind games he has fallen off.

Hopefully this stretch makes us a better team and dows not break us.

Q should not play more than 30 minutes a game so he will be frwsh come march.

Mango shouldnt play more than 15 minutes if we expect to win.

Pitino needs to let up on his mind games this season and coach this team. We have the players to make a run. He needs to use and trust his players.

Yep. Rozier and Trez looked spent in that E8 game, especially Trez. Even with an early ACC tournament exit which got them a few days off.

Hicks was decent against Purdue and Virginia. With increased playing time he can get comfortable like Q did filling in for Chris Jones. Q looked lost in very limited minutes before he had to fill in for CJ, and I believe his shooting percentages were just as bad as Tony's prior to increased minutes.

Again, what are you basing these opinions on?

Levich had 0 pts or assts & 1 reb & 1 foul against uk. Apparently "holding your own" means not getting dunked on every time down the court. I'm not hating on the kid but, C'mon.

Why do you keep saying that Johnson was a double double guy? He wasn't. Simply look at the stats. If he was a double double guy, Pitino would never have demoted him. Simply put, he got demoted because as we got into better competition, his play fell off.

I'm not a huge Adel fan but, he has got a way higher ceiling than anybody else that you've mentioned. I guess he will continue to get his minutes because the lineup that I just heard for Clemson was McMahon starting at the point.

A lot of positive things happen in basketball games that do not appear in the boxscore. Those intangables win games.

We have a team that can win it all.

Hopefully this stretch makes the team tighter and develops our rotations that will carry us through march.

Did you not watch the Uk or IU games? We probably don't win them, especially the Uk game without Adel's contributions. Now he needs to work on being more consistent but to act like Adel has not helped out big in any games this season isn't true.

He has not played like the 1st rounder he is praised to be. I hope with the second part of the season the light turns on for him.

We have a solid team and this is the point of the season where rick puts all of it together.

I hope all of our kids buy in and pull it together. If we buy in and play hard, we have a special team that can make noise.

Rick isn't real big on "keeping them happy". I think he likes Ray for 25 minutes/game at the 4 and Johnson for the other 15. JJ is justifying that by not contributing much when he gets in.
I think Rick starts Levitch at the point and tries to go with him as long as he we are winning or he is effective. Then Hicks and maybe some minutes out of McMahon. I don't think you will see Mitchell at the point unless Plan A, B and C fails.

Ray and Mahmoud have earned every minute they are playing. They've been dominant. Ray's only problem is getting into foul trouble early. But the two of them have really stepped up. I think JJ and Mango are doing okay, but they are definitely off the bench now. I'd really like to see Matz come back and get some minutes. He played some great minutes earlier, especially the Purdue game.

As far as PG, acc to the CJ, Mitchell and Odel are talking up McMahon. He hasn't been bad when he's been in there. I'm worried about him for two reasons. Getting killed by a bigger guard. Don't think he could defend someone like Mitchell, for example. Also, ball-handling. When he gets into tight spots, I worry about him. He needs to be able to avoid those or move the ball quickly to avoid traps.

Frankly, I'd rather see what McMahon can do than Hicks at this point. More important for the future, at least as a key backup.

I would like to see Matz as well. When it comes to the rotation it is really weird. He said we would play like the 96 team and rotate people, i have not seen it at all.

This stretch will answer all question about where rick believes this team can go.

I hope he uses Hicks.

Your first mistake was holding coach Pitino to his word. You can't do that. He's a great coach, but he enjoys toying with people by saying stuff like that, only to do something different. When he said we were going to push the pace, I expected the opposite and so far, that's exactly what has happened.

Maybe that is why the kids are confused as well. Dont know what to do, dont know what to expect.

Sounded like that was Anas issue until his dad told him he looked like he wasn't having fun. It is a game right? Give 110% no matter what you are asked to do, don't worry about individual stats, respect your coaches and teammates and put team first.
