I dont care what anyone on here says. They are for once, an actual, decent, football team. How long will it last? Who knows....maybe not many seasons their whole team leaves next year. I guess they can see what it feels like for us on most years.....not this year though....we will be back

This was the season they were pointing towards since they are upperclassmen heavy.

Just curious - why exactly did you feel the need to post this here? Particularly after today?

Stoops has actually built a program at UK. They have depth at every position and they are well coached. They’re probably going to kick our a$$ the next few years.

This is piss poor...posting this here. UK was due for one decent year and you slurp them? Besides, it's not like we haven't seen them crack the top ten then implode.

At least it won't be totally humiliating to lose to them. That's how it's been every other year.

I doubt it’ll be for the next few years unless UofL keeps sliding down. Our bread and butter is our run game and defense. We lose both next year.

I will give them credit they have stuck to their beliefs even when it was ugly. They have developed a really physical offensive line and have 2 good backs that understand how to run behind that line. It took awhile for them to get there. Their defense is good but it is loaded with upperclassman, it should be good.

They will give Georgia a game.

Next year we will see, but Rose is a legit running back too.

I think a lot of you are forgetting something very important. Lets say UK really does have a magical year, say 9 - 3 or 10 - 2 (UK fans can stop dreaming now, they aren't beating UGA, they aren't getting to Atlanta), you don't think that's going to catch a lot of other programs attention?

What was it that UK fans always said. That UofL was a stepping stone and that even when we had a good year it meant people would target whoever our coach was (Petrino 1.0, Strong). Well reality check to UK fans, if UofL is a stepping stone then UK is a stepping stone as well. If UK really does have a magical year there will be multiple programs coming after Mark Stoops and they'll get to go through that experience.

The only reason Rich Brooks wasn't targeted after UK's 2007 season was due to his age. Mark Stoops is a lot younger and I could see the following schools going after him:

USC (though I think they could go after Pete Carroll or Chris Petersen first)
FSU (I live in Florida, trust me, if FSU goes 4-8 or worse Willie Taggart could be fired)
Auburn (you get the sense Gus Malzaln is starting to wear out his welcome there)
Michigan (not likely but I could see Jim Harbaugh getting frustrated and going back to the NFL)
North Carolina (Fedora will be gone after this year)

And those are just the likely ones, who knows what other jobs could open. Enjoy this season UK fans, it will probably be your one good one for the next 40 years. You want to say Lamar Jackson is a once in a generation player for UofL, well I would say Benny Snell is a once in a generation player for UK. And when you are enjoying it, just remember that the level you are at now is the level we've been at (with the exception of the Kragthorpe years and this year) for the better part of 20 years. :)

Do not give them too much credit. Bama and UGA are at a different level than the rest of the SEC. If UK could have gotten UGA in September or early October they could have given them a game. With that said with it being in November UGA beats UK pretty comfortably.

I also think UK loses to Texas A&M in College Station (it definitely looks like Texas A&M could become Bama's main competition in the west under Jimbo Fisher) and I could even see them losing to Missouri in Columbia or throwing in a stinker somewhere. They will still be 9 - 3, 10 - 2 at best.

The SEC regular season will probably be pretty boring this year. The only team that has a chance to beat either Bama or UGA is LSU, since both of those games are in Death Valley. I doubt LSU beats either of them but they are the only team who has the defense to slow those teams down. Realistically though I would put money on both Bama and UGA being 12 - 0 going into their SEC Championship showdown.

Why, I'm a football fan. UK is playing good football and they are a rival. I actually enjoy watching them ...it does nothing to my emotional state in the fact that we suck this year. It's natural to discuss your rival...especially when they have sucked since I was a boy.

9-3 or 10-2 is very likely imo. Being able to run the ball and play D cuts down on the chance of a stinker. Unfortunately, we do neither.

Good football but not great football. They are still not at the level of Bama or UGA. Just off the top of my head our 2004, 2006, 2012, 2013 and 2016 teams would still have absolutely manhandled this UK team. Our 2000, 2001, 2005, 2011, 2014 and 2015 teams would have given this UK team a game and could have still beaten them if they played well. Just keep that in perspective UK fans, your best team in 40 years is no better than our sixth best team in the last 20 years.

For one year (out of the last 40) they might be at the same level as LSU, Texas A&M and Auburn (I think all of those teams would still beat UK though UK would give them a good game, especially if the game was in Lexington). After this year Benny Snell, most of UK's defense and possibly even Mark Stoops are all gone and UK largely goes back to being UK).

I am not saying they will beat Georgia, but they won't get pushed around like normal. Their Oline is legit.

True but Missouri is not chopped liver, they gave UGA a good game yesterday and UK plays them in Columbia. I think Missouri could be a top 25 team by the end of the year and I would still say Missouri beats UK in Columbia. Plus as bad as Tennessee is when was the last time UK won in Knoxville? Jeremy Pruitt will have that team playing better later in the year and I could definitely see UK being a little beat up after losing to UGA the week before. To me that is a trap game that I could see UK losing.

Totally agree....they are not great by any means but they are damn good for UK standards is all I am saying. I know it wont last long, maybe one season....but it's different seeing a decent UK football team because I've never seen one in my life. They do everything decently.

UGA's worst recruiting class in the last 10 years is still better than UK's best recruiting class. UK's defense has not faced anything near the level of the UGA offense and they will be more fine tuned come November. UGA's dline is also legit and will get pressure on the UK QB. This isn't Kirby Smart's first rodeo, he has specialized in making sure elite RB's have their worst career day. Benny Snell will find running the ball against UGA to be especially challenging.

UGA beats UK by at least 21 points. I'm even willing to ban bet that. In fact I'll be in New Orleans the week before that, I might just go over to the Mississippi casinos (now that they have sports betting) and put a few hundred down on UGA in that game.

Yep I just hope they enjoy it for this year because it's a one year thing. Benny Snell is a once every 20 year player for UK (easily their best player since Tim Couch) and there's a good chance they lose Mark Stoops after this year.

The only thing that makes it worse is that it's happening in what could be our worst year since Ron Cooper's last year. It would've been awesome to have had, just once, a 9 - 3 or better UofL team vs a 9 - 3 or better UK team. It would have been awesome to have broken their hearts in their one good year. If that had happened bridges out in the state would have to be shut down to prevent UK fans jumping off, lol.

I will say if UK is getting 21 points in November their wheels may have come off. This year they have been good ATS. Georgia is really good and could very easily win by 21 or more. When I see a Oline push around Florida and Miss St Dline that are legit, that tells me they will have some success against Georgia. If they stop UK run game then game over they may win by 30. I haven't seen many teams be able to stop their run game.

Florida is not the Florida we are used to and Miss State doesn't have the talent UGA has. Make no doubt about it, UGA's dline is at a completely different level than the dline at Florida or Miss State. There are very few Florida or Miss State dline players that would even sniff playing time right now at UGA. Most of the Florida and Miss State dline players would be third string at UGA.

You'll see that later on in the year when UGA puts 50 up on Florida and Florida is lucky to score more than 14. Everyone is forgetting that Miss State also has a first year head coach. Honestly even coming into the game I thought Miss State was overrated and was ranked simply on last year's success. Miss State will go into the Egg Bowl 5 - 6, 5th in the SEC West behind Bama, LSU, A&M and Auburn and needing a win just to be bowl eligible. UK's win over them at that point will look a lot less impressive.

I doubt the UGA-UK line is 21 points as well, which IMO makes it easier money.

Literally minutes after UKs upset of Miss St, cats sign a 3 star QB recruit from Louisiana. Kids still dream of playing in the SEC even if they can’t play for Bama, Auburn or LSU.

That is true, which makes our domination over UK that much sweeter. UofL has dominated UK for years even though UK had a huge recruiting advantage with the SEC. Like you said so many kids in the south dream of playing in the SEC even if it means getting beat up every week. They will play for an SEC school even if it's UK, Ole Miss, South Carolina or Arkansas. It wasn't until we joined the ACC in 2014 that we were finally on an even recruiting ground with UK, which makes Petrino's failure that much more infuriating. If we can get a coach in here that can recruit with ACC resources watch out.

The good thing is that 3 star QB recruit will de commit at the end of the season when Stoops gets a job at a true football school.

UK game will be relevant for us. How many UofL fans will not show up for that beatdown. The number of empty seats will usually determine a coaches fate.

Sadly the way it's going UK fans could outnumber UofL fans at Cardinal Stadium. If both teams were having a bad year it would just be an empty stadium. Now though UK fans will be buying up tickets like crazy for that game, the one year they can come to Cardinal Stadium and almost be assured of a win. I hate to see it but I think you'll see a lot of blue for that game and I can't blame UofL fans. At least they'll get some of the money back that they've wasted on season tickets this year.
