Colorado Springs, Colo., Mesa Ridge High School junior Kylee Shook became the first commitment in the Class of 2016 for UofL.
The 6-foot-4 Shook, considered a top-40 prospect nationally, gave the Cardinals a commitment on Wednesday morning. She was visited by U of L coach Jeff Walz, who has been out recruiting all week, on Tuesday night.
Shook averaged 18.9 points, 15.3 rebounds and 8.2 blocks Mesa Ridge as a junior. Earlier this season, Shook broke Maranatha Christian's Angela Pearson's state record for most career blocks. Pearons had 436, Shook has 496 with a year left.
Shook was a first-team All-State selection by the Denver Post as a freshman and sophomore and is likely on that team again this season.
In one recent game, Shook finished with a quadruple double of 24 points, 22 rebounds, 12 blocks and 11 assists.
She's the first commitment in the '16 class.
