Not surprised by anything that happened last night.UConn had the game circled far before any pre-season rankings came out. They are a solid club that has their own aspirations as a pre-season top 20 club.
Let's see how our guys respond to getting hit in the teeth.

Cards bounce back to take the 2nd game 12-2. Coach Mac not wasting any time shaking things up. Stringer moved up in the lineup to the 3rd spot, freshman Henry Davis catches his first game,Britton batting dh.
Looks like the guys have a counter punch.

Game 1 They had their opportunities just didn't get the key hit at any point. That is the nature on the game, they got a quality start and sounds like they have a legit closer. UConn will win more times than not when they head into the 8th or 9th with the lead.

Game 2 Louisville depth showed up. Moved people around and adding in other players who produced.
I like the power that showed up yesterday which I was a little concerned about.

Pitching-Pitching-Pitching this maybe the deepest/most talented pitching staff he has had. The freshman yesterday was filthy...95-96 nasty slider. They apparently love the other freshman that may get a start Wedensday. Miller who was fantastic last year in sitting in the wings.

Got a chance to see them both several times since Fall. Perkins and Wright. Those 2 guys are here for 3 seasons.:D

Over 30 runners left on base in 3 games. Demling, who is terrible calling a game, said the players were emotional throughout the weekend. Not sure if they had a mentality of “oh, we got this,” after big preseason expectations. Humility has always been a hallmark of a McDonnell team, however. Credit UCONN. Learned an early season lesson. Not the start everyone was expecting.

They certainly had us circled on their schedule. They made more plays than us.
Hats off to them.
