And isn't it the goal to rank the better / best teams higher / highest?

Nope. When Jeff Long was the committee head, he stated several times the committee's mandate is only for the Top 4 teams. When they rank the rest of the field, it's basically no different than the AP or Coaches' poll. The reason for that is, it was the only way to get the bowls to agree to it.

If the schedules were completely flipped Louisville would be going to the Orange Bowl. 2 consecutive losses by FSU to those opponents would drop us the same way it did Louisville. The ACC goes with the highest ranked team. If Louisville closed the way we did they would be ranked ahead of us regardless of the head to head. It is just my opinion but those were bad losses. I have seen it happen to us before.

It wasn't just the two losses, it was the poor play down the stretch even though we won games. FSU closed strong and earned it. No hard feelings from me about it. We got what we deserved. Hopefully the players learned from it and will finish strong next season.
