According to CJ, CRP charged with failure with monitoring McGee not program. Suspension likely like Syracuse and Boeheim.

I corrected my previous post. I was reporting what an ESPN staff writer had reported. There seems to slight differences as to the allegations. Not failure to monitor program. What's being alleged is failure to monitor McGee. UofL avoided "major" charges, such as failure to monitor and lack of institutional control. My initial reaction to all of this is the worst is well behind us.
The case won't go to court until Spring 2017 so it's going to drag on for most of the upcoming season...The article I read on CBS stated UofL will dispute the 4 charges. This is 1 more step closer to ending this nightmare.
UL will only dispute the charge against CRP stating he did not monitor McGee properly. The article I read on CBS stated UofL will dispute the 4 charges. This is 1 more step closer to ending this nightmare.
75,000 a year is squat? He provided the $ over time, around 5500.He was rogue and looking to move himself up the ladder. The biggest question has still not been answered and may never be answered. Where did the money come from? McGee made squat, certainly not enough to be spending thousands on strippers/hookers for recruits.
Thanks for linking this story.
Yes,I believe he was.something like 11 stripper parties were held and he was the only one who orchestrated it.
Do you honestly believe that trash CJ really cares whether they get the story right. Their just trying to connect the dots between what calamari did and what happen here. Complete BS. The only thing the CJ has to do in my book is cease to be!Thanks for linking this story.
By looking at this site, I saw that 3 of the 4 major allegations were not against the university but against McGee and Williams: the 4th being Pitino's alleged failure to monitor McGee.
If you look at the CJ, you will find there were 4 allegations, and then they try to hook you with "Will the 2013 Banner come down?" by comparing other schools whose players received extra benefits, even by naming Derrick Rose. The CJ is comparing apples to oranges by not looking at similar allegations. The Derrick Rose story was completely different because Derrick Rose was deemed academically ineligible.
The CJ needs to look at penalties issued to schools with similar allegations to predict if a banner may come down, but I am not going to hold my breath. Comparing similar allegations would demonstrate responsible journalism; bringing up schools who had to forfeit entire seasons is more alluring.
I certainly understand why you feel the way you do but the cold hard truth is none of us are pure.Sorry, but I feel like I need to take a long shower/bath after reading the NC2A list of allegations. I feel neither relieved nor vindicated. My only emotion at this time is disgust and anger, that this entire sordid affair occurred
The individuals responsible not explicitly identified that conspired with McGoo need to be outed and there were others. Lastly, I want that POS Powell, her daughters and anyone else involved in this prostitution/ racketeering scheme prosecuted for their felonious acts.
Major heartburn and butt hurt happening in Lexington. 10 out of the first 14 threads on Rupp rafters are about Louisville. Fat jones had them believeing the death penalty was coming.Ahhh.... feels like a relief of pressure, and now we're on the downside of the controversy. Recruiting is on target. Future looks great. Let the gnashing of teeth in Lexington continue.

When you breakdown the money it's even more sad. The NCAA said at least $5,400 was involved. That comes to $1,350 per year (the events cover a four year period as you all know). There were 20 individuals identified by the NCAA (17 players/recruits, two AAU coaches, and one friend of a recruit). That comes to $270 per person. This all boils down to an average of five people per year at $54 per person for four years. So, I believe it would be very easy for someone with a $75,000 salary to fund this.
Having said all of that, this is a terrible black mark on the Cards and, hopefully, will never be repeated.
Look I'm not completely sure we are completely out of the woods. As CRP says there is only one person who knows. What happens if he crawls out from under his rock, decides he wants to make some money for his own book? It is still hard for me to imagine that something like 11 stripper parties were held and he was the only one who orchestrated it.
I have a different point of view. Yes we knew this day would come but up to this point there was doubt that the events even occurred. Now we know they did. If that doesn't pissed you off, raise an eyebrow or bother you the least bit that this happen at U of L then it really does say that all we care about is wins on a basketball court.Hm, interesting. I feel no disgust or anger, as we've all had a year to digest this. We knew this day would come. All things considered, IMO, this day isn't so bad.

The first two years of the "infractions" Andre McGee was only a student assistant with no salary, only a small living expense stipend. I'm pretty sure the money didn't originate with McGee, at least those first two years.
100% uklown fans with Louisville handlesIt was a small amount of money. I love these low post count guys with conspiracy theories.

Cool story.Glad to see Jurich and UofL avoided penalty.
mcgee was living in the dorm rent free, even at 30,000 its not that much over 4 yrsMy mistake. I was under the understanding that McGee's salary was in the neighborhood of $30K per year. It sure would have cleared a lot of speculation up if McGee would have agreed to the NCAA interview
i have no problem believing andre would accept money for silence but if he did would he still be an uber driver in kansas city?I have a hard time believing that as well. Pure speculation on my part, but I wonder if he may have been paid for his silence. McGee sure has nothing to gain from not speaking. He is likely to get a 10 year show cause penalty. He will most likely never coach an NCAA team again.

As it should be. I run an office of 9 people. Pitino has a staff of about the same size. I am charged with supervising my staff, just as he is. If this garbage went on for a 4 year period in my office, then I'd expect to be held responsible - even fired. Pitino will never acknowledge any personal responsibility - too much ego - but clearly he should be held responsible whether he actually knew or not. It's his job to know what his staff is doing. That's one of the reasons he gets paid multi-millions. Glad to see Jurich and UofL avoided penalty.
Just because the figures were averages does not mean that it was the amount spent each year. The first two years could have been infrequent visits with as little as $200 each spent each year as McGee tested it out. Then the last few years could have gotten much more frequent with more money spent, as McGee had more money to spend. The first two years of the "infractions" Andre McGee was only a student assistant with no salary, only a small living expense stipend. No I accepted the ban trusting that Jurich, Ramsay and Smrt knew something but to now say "whew" its all over is a bit premature IMHO.No, when UofL announced a post season ban last year, that pretty much solidified something happened. Everyone should have known then. I think you might have been in denial.
