They have four really good players and their role players are not that bad either. I do think they're peaking early and in Mid February they may come down to earth.Miami just beat Duke. Remember when Miami was the loss that was an albatross around our necks in not making the tourney last year. They now lead the ACC.
I like Curry and he for sure deserves PT. But I think the more you see him the more foul trouble you'll see him in.Mistake taking Curry out

Had Cross made both of those 3's, we could have won this game. Louisville is getting better. They just need to take advantage of their opportunities.
Pretty much every night ain't it Hop?Only chance Cards have is to be clicking from 3, and they are firing blanks tonight at fairly high volume.
Curry is for sure showing something in the paint. Sam, when under control, can slash. But they just struggle to run much of an offense. They don't have enough guys (or any guy?) that can consistently set up guys for good looks. A bunch of decent players just kinda rolled into a roster and maybe just not enough high end talent and/or versatility to reach fringe T25 level.Pretty much every night ain't it Hop?
Keep in mind they are currently in the "easier" stretch of games. They really needed this game IMO.
The schedule from 1/22 through end of year is significantly tougher than this early part of the league schedule.
Either way they did show some flashes tonight. I just don't think there's enough in the cupboard to get to where fans want them to get. There's also legit questions to if the current HC is the answer but that's probably another topic for another time after the season is over.
Well think about it, this is not exactly the golden era of UofL basketball.Cards have now lost 5 straight to FSU. In f’ing basketball!!
I'm not saying I agree or disagree I probably shouldn't have thrown that in there, I prefer to wait until a season is over before evaluating a HC. I just don't see a "turning point" for this team, and that's not me taking shots at the players or coaches. I just don't think they are good enough.I think there is enough info there. If he gets a Level 2 sanction, he’s gone. If he avoids that, he stays. He’s a decent coach. Not worth buying out but worth jettisoning if it’s free

To FSU's credit, they've really just had better players during this stretch.
Hit the nail on the headThey don't have enough guys (or any guy?) that can consistently set up guys for good looks
I agree they are limited but late the game someone set up Locke and Cross with really good looks. They missed all 3.Hit the nail on the head
You are absolutely right. So it is possible but they don't do it nearly enough for me throughout the game.I agree they are limited but late the game someone set up Locke and Cross with really good looks. They missed all 3.
And I don't mind this if these 2 guys become more of the player that distribute as well as score.Mack better start Faulkner and Ellis the rest of the season. It is their only chance.
I was referring to throughout a game setting up bigs for looks at the rim and running a fluid offense in general.I agree they are limited but late the game someone set up Locke and Cross with really good looks. They missed all 3.

West is a nice defensive guard that is extremely limited offensively in all facets. He is just not UofL level starting material. Neither is Locke.
There won’t be any post season if we don’t win these games. We play only a couple teams that can help our cause. And we’re not going to beat Duke, UNC, or Miami. And we have zero guarantee wins on our schedule. We may not improve fast enough to make the tournament. You can't get much better open 3 point shots from one of your best shooters.
I knew we would lose this game for a million different reasons and most of them occurred during the game.
I think the Cards are improving. Curry, Ellis and Faulkner are gaining more minutes. Sam is back to playing his game and even Withers played better tonight.
I think if we keep improving we will be okay for a decent post season seed. But winning this game tonight was just a lot to overcome and this team still hasn't gelled just yet.
Which is why Cross left, his playing time was going to get cut.Miami just beat Duke. Remember when Miami was the loss that was an albatross around our necks in not making the tourney last year. They now lead the ACC.
They don’t have anyone when West and Locke are on the floor together. That is why they get off to terrible starts. Those 2 can’t play together. Then you add in Dre Davis that is 3 guys that can’t create anything.I was referring to throughout a game setting up bigs for looks at the rim and running a fluid offense in general.

Cross is fine but athletically limited. Now if he continues to really struggle from 3 then his value is greatly diminished. Sad to say but Ellis is the only player that reminds you of past Louisville teams. They used the have 5 guys that were athletic freaks. Now they have 1. The best player is always on the other team.Which is why Cross left, his playing time was going to get cut.
It will be interesting to see if lineup change (s) will be made. He has shown he isn't afraid to mix the lineup. They don’t have anyone when West and Locke are on the floor together. I think Mack is figuring it out and in fairness Ellis and Faulkner weren’t ready until the last 2 weeks.
He completely missed on Locke and West. Neither are good enough athletes to play his style offensively or defensively.
This is kinda what bothers me Hop. When someone is having a night, like say Ellis was the other night, the other guys have to know it and get him every shot they can.Only chance Cards have is to be clicking from 3, and they are firing blanks tonight at fairly high volume.
By all means,if they're there and you are hitting them, then keep taking them. If you're cold, try to get to the free throw line by shot faking it and drawing the defense. There's just no mindset of our guys to make a play for somebody else if you're not having a good night shooting it.BL: Live by the three die by the three.
Also, if you don't play defense well you get taken to the well....and beaten. Badly. Especially on the road.
