There you have it, my WAG for the ACC in this years Bowl games. With Clemson and SMU in the CFP that makes 12 of 17 teams in the league with an extra month of practice for next year...and well deserved for most of them. Good luck to them and good fortune in your Pic's. Now get to pic'n and grin'n! Enjoy the games!!!! And have a Merry X-mas and Happy New Year!

Nice Bow to put on the Season

1. The two sacks allowed against Pitt are the only sacks allowed back to the Miami game. Clean slates against BC, Clemson, Stanford and in Lexington Saturday. Outstanding work from Richard Owens in juggling the offensive line and working around a beat up group. And for Renato Brown to step up in addition to Monroe Mills who at times looks like he can't run. Michael Gonzalez was the constant all year at Left Guard and I hope he gets some postseason All-ACC recognition for it.

2. A lot is being made about how you manage NIL with Isaac Brown and Duke Watson but I'd add this...they have to keep Chris Barclay intact. They had to fend off Tennessee in the offseason and he will have no less suitors this year. And if there is any question you should carry at least Four RBs into camp you see why you have to have had that at minimum this year. It sorted itself out perfectly.

3. If there was a stat for maintaining composure and staying out of the types of extracurricular sideline activity that UK has engaged in under Stoops...we'd have dominated in that category. It was funny seeing Bell pulling Isaac Brown towards the huddle and out of the middle of their defense trying to goon him on the UK sideline.

The body language from UK was parts frustration and resignation; rewatching big chunks of the game I can tell you without any hesitation that Walker just went through the motions like he was in an All Star game and was trying to get to the finish line healthy.

4. We'll certainly see optouts for the Bowl, but I'm betting a lot of seniors you see defensively play in the front seven. Guys like Ramon, Griffith, Guerrard, Konga and Tramel Logan. Secondary we'll probably be light. I can't imagine Gillotte, Quincy Riley or Corey Thornton play and you'd think the same of Shough and Ja'Corey Brooks offensively.

5. Lastly, you can tell it's College Football Silly Season when a "Marrow to Louisville" rumor hits the Internet leaked out from a UK source. Marrow--and Stoops--play the Calipari game of wrestling more money out of Barnhart every postseason than they're worth. I don't buy it for a handful or reasons as it applies to us, not the least of which it's clear there is a commitment to recruit out of the Portal far more than the high school ranks; while I'd love to have a resource to pull the types of DTs they have out of Detroit the last seven or eight years, it doesn't fit our current Program MO at all. Beyond that, I've never been impressed with UK's TE production despite having some fairly regarded TEs out of HS.

Louisville vs. Kentucky Basketball Modern Series History by the numbers

So It's time to get it over with. They're now pretending they don't care about football. So I've done a dive into the numbers of the series. Pat Kelsey needs to change this and change it fast.

Starting with the Dream Game in 1983
Kentucky 30 wins (68%)
Louisville 14 wins (32%)

We are currently in a stretch where we've lost 13 of our last 16 games to them.
Our last 4 wins? All four have been at home by 3 points, 3 of those wins were against UK teams that made the NIT.
We've lost 7 straight at Rupp arena, we haven't won there since the 2007-2008 season
We're 3-4 at the YUM Center all time against them
Our longest win-streak has been 2 games, which we've done 4 times in the modern series
Their longest win-streak has been 4 games, which they've done 3 times in the modern series

Denny Crum was 7-13 (35%)
His record was 4-5 in his first 9 against them
He finished 4-8 against them.
Big upset wins over them in 1995 and in 1998 against their title team

Pitino was 6-12 (33%)
From the 2003 through 2009 seasons, he was 4-5 against them as that was his best stretch.
He finished 2-7 in his last 9 against them.
Biggest win was probably destroying them in 2003-2004 when they were ranked #1

Padgett/Mack/Payne were a combined 1-5 against them (17%)
Chris Mack was 1-2, but 1 loss was in Overtime at Rupp and he won his last game

We have to start changing the tide in this series. It can't be just a rivalry of hate. We have to get W's on the board!

4 of 4 - BooneCountyCard (TB 31-27=58)

2 of 4 - HaydenHarris
2 of 4 - CIncyCard80
2 of 4 - Wahoo
2 of 4 - Mayo (bringing up the rear again)

Overall, I was disappointed by all the games.

Surprised by the OSU start and finish,

surprised by the total domination of PSU, and

mixed feelings in the TX game vs Clems son as my hatred of Dabo and the SEC simultaneously vacillated my feelings during the game.

ND did what I thought they would, just wish they hadn't taken their foot off the gas and let IU get some late scores to have the final score look more respectable then the beat down it really was.

All in all, looking forward to the second round of games hoping for a better outcome. Will post that challenge soon.

TY to all 12 players for this round of games. And good fortune to ya!

46. SYRACUSE 75.43 57
51. DUKE 74.11 66
8. OLE MISS 88.71 46 3 losses

I did this post so we can understand where UL should stand in the pecking order of Bowl Games. I believe if SMU wins the ACC Championship tomorrow. That both SMU and Miami will end up in playoff. AL, GA, TX, and TN are in! So are OR, OSU, and PENN STATE are in. ND in for sure! Odd men out IU, and OLE MS. If SMU, and Miami are in then. Top Teams up for Bowl Games ACC are Ul & Clemson! IMO we are Gator Bowl Bound!

2025 Schedule

This schedule is built to make a legit run at the playoff. The portal is going to be very interesting. I have no clue how they will stack up in the NIL world. No clue if it is true but Louisville has been mentioned to be in Top 20.

Their strategy has been retaining, portal and high school. Here is the slippery slide of this it sounds like the bigger brands are going to be extremely active this portal season jacking the market up.

8 home games with Clemson being only circle the wagon game. Avoid the other up and comers Syracuse and Georgia Tech. The schedule is absolutely a selling point.

My immediate needs.

1) Retain all the obvious and the younger Oline and DLine.
2) Oline-can’t miss here.
3) Dline line—-edge guys
4) Corners-Safeties
5) QB-not worried here I trust them here.
6) WR-they will have options. They have to add quality depth. It was a really thin group.

It will be fun to watch.

Expectations

After the sheer embarrassment of the past two seasons, I believe most Cards fans just wanted to see effort and competent coaching this season. We wanted to look like a real basketball team, not a group of guys with no idea what their coaches were doing.

We figured Kelsey would bring in excitement with effort and dedication to save the sinking ship that was Louisville basketball. We didn't necessarily believe his first team full of transfers was going to be some world beater, just a competitive team that with some luck could maybe sneak into post season play.

We saw this during the summer and in the early part of the regular season. There wasn't boring, uninspired play against exhibition teams or cupcakes on the schedule. We saw a purpose and it excited the fanbase.

Now injuries are part of the buisness, but what has happened to this team is beyond that. It has derailed all the positive vibes the team had, especially after those first two games in the Bahamas. The decimation of the Hoosiers got the fans and the pundits excited that Louisville hoops was back and good for the game.

But now it's back to the unknown with the team having to re-evaluate its plan of attack now that there's only 8 scholarship players. The expectations from just last week are no longer plausible and for most fans, that is just hard to accept.

We have to remember this is a rebuild and will take more than a season or two. The guys on this team except for Scott and Rooths, know this is their only chance to be part of the rebuilding process and they're going to press a little bit. They're going to take bad shots and they have more pressure on them to make those shots.

They remember the IU game and want so bad to do that again, but they're now realizing that they have a much bigger mountain to climb and they probably won't reach the summit. That's a lot to handle for players who know this is it for their college basketball careers.

We fans should temper our expectations, especially against very good teams. To suggest Kelsey was outcoached by Beard is ridiculous. There wasn't anything Kelsey could have done. Now he needs to adjust his strategy going forward and if and how he does that he can and will be judged.

It's going to take some time though and that's my expectation for the remainder of the season.
