From 3 pointers to free throws this team is shooting atrociously bad.

The question is why are they shooting so far below their career averages? Is it the offense, bad shot selection, the step up in competition, tired legs from too much cardio???

I believe it's a combination of bad shots and tired legs. The players use so much energy on defense and on offense trying to get a decent shot it just drains them physically and mentally.

I also believe we just don't have great shooters to begin with. Waterman has a funky shot and it surprises me when he does make a 3. Hadley is a bricklayer just being honest and Edwards has a long wind-up to get off a 3 point shot.

I think Hepburn is the better shooter, even over Smith, but he has to run the offense now that he's the only real PG on the team. Smith shoots some of the worst shots I've ever seen. I don't think JJ Reddick in his prime could make many of those shots.

FT shooting woes is mostly fatigue.

Another thing with this team is the brutal schedule. They really needed a cupcake or two after the Bahamas, not back to back ranked teams. Kelsey is finding out just how big of a hole the program is in and how bad luck follows the program wherever it goes.

He has to re-evaluate the strategy with the adversity he faces with the injuries and the schedule. If he can adapt and overachieve, he's the man for the job. That's what I'm hoping for but not as confident as I was just last week.

The problem is their stats say they are getting quality shots they just miss. Do they take bad shot sure but they are 6th in the nation in shot quality.

They all shot in the 35-40 percent range last year against similar competition. Waterman and even Pryor were 35-37 percent from three. They are in the low 20’s.

They get clean looks and flat miss. Good luck winning. Now that could flip but right now none of them outside Chucky believe their shot is going in.
