Men’s ACCT Magic Numbers: 0, 2, and 6 (as of 2/12)

Top 15 make the tourney, so Cards are very close to clinching a spot: Cards are 9-1, and 16th is NC State at 2-7. So our magic number to clinch is 5.

To clinch a single round bye, we need to be 9th seed or higher. Cal, VT, and FSU are tied for 10th at 4-6. That puts our magic number to clinch a first round bye at 6.

Need to be in the top 4 to earn the double bye: 4th place is currently a 3 way tie between Wake, SMU, and Stanford at 7-3. That puts our magic number to clinch the double bye at 9. A win at home over Stanford in early March would give us the tiebreaker over all 3 of those teams, reducing our magic number to clinch the double bye by 2 in a single game.

BB RECRUITING: Sananda Fru commits to Louisville:

Louisville basketball coach Pat Kelsey is going international with his latest addition to the Cardinals' 2025 recruiting class.

Sananda Fru, a 21-year-old power forward from Germany, has committed to the Cardinals, a source with direct knowledge of the situation told The Courier Journal on Tuesday. The Field of 68's Jeff Goodman was first to report.

Fru, who stands 6 feet, 11 inches tall and weighs 245 points, plays for Lowen Braunschweig. He is currently averaging 12 points on 75% shooting, five rebounds and 1.3 blocks across 17 games.

Fru is the second member of U of L's 2025 recruiting class. The first was Mikel Brown Jr., a consensus five-star point guard who has been named a McDonald's All-American.

Elli Strecker you gotta like her

Elli Strecker is one of the top volleyball players in the class of 2026. She is from Zionsville, Indiana and committed to Louisville when DBK was the Head Coach. She reconfirmed her commitment to Louisville volleyball saying that Louisville is her dream school. She is 6’3” tall and is a strong blocker on defense. Love this girl and she is not even here yet.

Can Someone please explain the Lunacy of not putting players on the lane when shooting FT's late and in the lead?

the dumbest thing to me in college or pro bball is a team with the lead and their player shooting FT's and the other four guys are at the other end with no one to even attempt a rebound or to slow up the dribble. i;ve seen it three times in the last week where the player missed the FT and no one there to even try to get the rebound. you're giving up the possibility of winning the game outright with a rebound, or a putback score, or even making the ball bounce around and waste time. instead you give the losing team free walk up the court from a free rebound. it's absolutely the stupidest defense. put all your players on the line. how many times in history have to seen a fast break off a missed rebound? very few as every one is bunched up and defenders right there. just plain dumb

Gameday observations

Just looking around today, I noticed some very encouraging trends. There is a younger demographic and energy in the building. From the student section to a greater number of teens and younger kids, there seems to be a greater energy around the program. The student section is full and very much engaged. Getting the younger generation invested and coming to games is so essential for the long-term vitality of the program. For years it seems that the geriatric contingent has dominated, but I have noticed more and more younger fans at games. Great to see a new generation of fans being fostered in front of our eyes.
