A couple of things

I believe the defensive performance that we witnessed against Clemson was at least in part a result of playing a pocket QB, as compared to the far more athletic dual threat QBs that we saw at GT, at ND, at Miami and at home against SMU.

I don’t believe the majority of UL fans (myself included) had any idea as to just how good those opposing QBs would be when the season started. Leonard, Jennings and Ward may very well be among the best in college football this season.

Sadly; I did not leave college sports …… it left me!

I have been on record as expressing my opinion that HS recruiting is no longer the key to success in College Sports, and frankly WCBB is the “poster child” for that position as there are only 5 players that any team can have on the floor at one time. It should be evident that having an experienced D1 college player with a strong resume coming out of the Portal is likely to have more impact than an incoming HS graduate.

I will acknowledge that Portal cannot be effective by itself, as every school will still need to utilize the HS a recruiting path to some degree, but last year’s UL class is more likely the model that Jeff will be following in order to remain a top ACC contender.

Cards - 19?

I don't think so, but I don't know much about Morehead State other than they're not going to be intimidated.

I think it will probably be more like 20 points. 84 to 64, but wouldn't be surprised if it's closer than expected. There will be some nerves in the first real game, but these are very experienced players for Louisville so it shouldn't do much harm.

If the Cards do win by 30 that would get the attention of the hoops world for sure.
Again, I can understand the shyness because that last turd was historically bad, but we have at least 10 guys(?) that were in the tournament last year that are upper classmen, many of which are 5+ years playing college ball. I plan on making a butt ton of money on UL over the first month of this season because betting sites are going to use historical data. 95+ to under 65 is final score. 30 point victory at the minimum.

Will the Cards be ranked?

It’s ironic you asked that.

I have caught myself being far less “involved “ than in the past.

I went fishing during the ND game. Should’ve during SMU.

Players getting paid, then quitting, get kicked out of games for playing real FB, double PI calls, and phantom penalty reversals, has busted a whole lot of my give a damn.

I hope they do well. Even great.

But if they don’t, there’s always fishing.
Not due to you personally, but that sentiment is at the root of a lot of our financial problems…
