A busy day for women's sports at UofL with three Cardinals squads in competition.

WSOC starts things off with a noon match against Boston College in Lynn Stadium.

Both teams will be looking to take a step upwards from the lower tiers of the ACC standings.

BC spreads their offense among several players, with Sam Smith leading the way with five goals on the season, but Emily Sapienza, and Ella Richards aren't far behind with four and three, respectively.

Wiebke Willebrandt of Germany, will likely be in goal with 51 saves and 19 goals against on the season.

Soccer is on ACC Network. The crisp fall weather for the day should be great for going out and catching the competition.

Field Hockey travels to Lynchburg, VA and Liberty University. This one is a noon start also and will be on ESPN+
The Flames are at 8-4 on the season so far with no really awful losses. The worst is probably to William and Mary, but they're not bad. Otherwise, they've lost to two different then-1st-ranked teams in Northwestern and UNC and a 25th ranked James Madison.

They are mostly waltzing through the AAC conference, with a 10-0 beatdown of Georgetown, 4-0 over UConn, and 5-0 wins over Qunnipiac and Villanova.

Daniella Rhodes is the biggest offensive threat for Liberty, reaching the back of the cage 10 times on the season so far.

Look for Azul Iritxity Irigoyen of Argentina in goal.

The Cards definitely need a "W" here to remain in the top 10, especially after falling at Wake Forest.

#2 Volleyball visits Syracuse today. This one gets underway at 1pm, and is on ACC Network Extra streaming.

The Cuse are 8-7, 4-1 in conference with Notre Dame somehow knocking them out of the tie for the top spot. (Notre Dame isn't great, this year) Friday's match between Syracuse and Notre Dame was a battle between two first year coaches. Bakeer Ganesharatnam has taken over from the retiring, probably for good this time, former Cards VB coach Leonid Yelin, while Salima Rockwell takes over from Mike Johnson, who's services were no longer required at ND (he landed as assistant coach at Stanford).

Polina Shemanova of St. Petersburg Russia, is the name you will hear a lot in connection with Syracuse volleyball. She's the offensive powerhouse of the team, hitting at a .249 clip on the season, but getting the bulk of the swings. She isn't a terrible threat on the blocking side of the equation, however. The other eastern European threat recruited by Yelin is Viktoriia Lokhmanchuk, of Zhaporizhia, Ukraine. She is only hitting at a .211 average, but getting the second most swings.

For the Cards, it'll fall on Claire and Aiko to provide most of the front line swinging and kills. Nena Mbonu has been one of the bright spots filling in for Anna DeBeer. Amaya Tillman is as solid as she's ever been at middle blocker and setter Raquel Lazaro and libero Elena Scott have both been pleasant surprises this season.
