Jeff led Louisville and truthfully the whole community on for the last two weeks. If he truly did not want the job AND he was happy at Purdue, he should have politely told Louisville officials "no" way back down the road. Jeff created this drama by acting interested, not communicating with people, and leading over a million plus people on.

Jeff should not have done this to his alma mater. He played Louisville against Purdue because he wanted money. Jeff got greedy is the reality of the situation. Coaches do this, but to do it to your alma mater, nah, that stinks.

Jeff did a amart business move. Act interested in louisville to leverage purdue for more money . It was smart as hell

And it was greedy more than smart, I'll stand with what I said. Coaches do this as I stated before, but not to the people and place that gave you life. Not good, not classy at all.

Actually, if you look back with an unjaundiced eye, you only have your AD to blame. It was he that went public by naming Brohm as his #1 candidate. That is just not done in the AD world and, as it happens, will lessen the # of candidates, currently employed, that will be willing to talk with him.
It was your AD who leaked his optimism to the press (Dakich for example) in an effort to create a guilt trip for Brohm. And it was your AD who demonstrated himself to be a micro-manager by being on the sidelines and interacting with players, going on recruiting visits, etc.
Face it Cards, no decent, up and coming coach will want to work with this clown. He will bring you a retread who just wants backing coaching.
If you want to point fingers, point them at your AD who started this mess and your fan-boy media who ratcheted it up to disgusting levels.

One thing, that has been overlooked in this situation, is the Brohm family’s relationship with Petrinos. It may have played into his decision as well.

That may be possible to. Petrino gave him his start in coaching and had he coached under Petrino for what 7 seasons total.

Alright Mr. IU. Stop posing so hard and acting like you are for UofL.

https://indiana.forums.rivals.com/threads/one-more-thought-on-jeff-b.175835/

You showed up here on these boards pushing for UofL to snag Brohm a couple of months ago just to help bail out IU... you failed.

https://louisville.forums.rivals.com/threads/petrino-has-lost-this-team.41226/
Look, i grew up going to UofL basketball and football games. I grew up in Jeffersonville, directly across the river from Louisville. I'm not going to apologize because I like two different schools.

It's a free country, I can root for who I want.

You’re a disgusting IU troll that doesn’t have Louisville’s best interest at heart. How dare you insinuate that he wasn’t truly conflicted about the biggest decision of his family’s life. Have a little bit of empathy.

Oh okay... you have almost 10,000 posts on IU's board. You have under 100 on UL almost all of them in the last couple of months.

Keep posing.

how does Notre Dame football fit into this mix?

also... did you go to iu?

I'm glad you people know me....damn, it's Ok to root for more than one team. I've liked UofL for YEARS, I was born in Louisville, GD.

Weird times. Purdue fans are coming on a UofL board to rip a regular poster here that happens to like IU and Louisville.

For Purdue fans, these are truly the salad days.
Savor every fleeting moment, you crazy kids.

Me, class of 90'

Then again, maybe he was truly conflicted. You know, like a decent human being would be in that situation.

Let it go. Good Lord.

This ^^ is the real answer. Jeff has integrity. Something we haven't witnessed much with Petrino and Pitino (and maybe Jurich for that matter).

I think Tyra did all he could and he delivered Mack (again, integrity). I think the App State guy may be a blessing in disguise. Let it play out.

Yes; and that's just how things work in the real world. We just have too many fans who can't get a grip right now. Good for Jeff.

Ding, ding, ding! So true. Your AD is the issue. Don’t you think your AD was one of the top items listed on Brohms “Cons” list to go back home (as in “How you rebuild a program from scratch with a meddling, jack-ass AD”).

Unfortunately you are right......I truly believe this. If what Im hearing is true (Purdue paying him 6 mil a year) they can have him. You can look at my post history...Ive said this from the very beginning, i did not want him for 6 mil a year. He is not worth that at this point and it would be stupid as hell to pay that much. He is .500 in the weak division of the Big ten and lost to some pretty bad teams. I see him being a 8 win max coach at Purdue and even then...is 6 mil worth that. We had an 8 win coach and he was getting 4 mil a year.

I would rather have Fickle, Day or Venebales for 3 mil a year rather than pay Brohm 6 million just because he is from Louisville......essentially that is the BIG draw to Brohm. He is still unproven

He was probably not allowed to address the job search directly until after the season was over which he did directly after the game on Saturday.
“But right now, I'm the coach at Purdue. This is where I want to be, and I like it here.”

Was it Vince Tyra who leaked the info about Brohm or was it Jody Demling? I do agree that making a pecking order on who the candidates are public is bad business, but in this case, it was not a stretch to conclude Brohm was the priority and the way the media is today, they just throw shit out there to see what sticks then retract if forced to. I don't believe for a second Tyra leaked anything.

Brohm didn’t owe UL a thing. He did not want to come to a dumpster fire of a program. I can’t say I blame him.

Brohm didn't turn this into a circus for two weeks. Tyra did that by firing Petrino and naming Brohm as his prime candidate before the season was even over. That's bush league.

Everyone know years 1 and 2 of a true rebuild isnt all about wins. They are more of a bonus..2013-2016 we were 9-39 3-30 B1G so 13-12 (9-9) is a big improvement. You think whoever Louisville brings in gonna have yall finish 2nd by yr 2?

Probably not but he wont be getting 6 million a year....Saban makes 7.5. to pay Brohm that much is crazy. What if he just hangs around 7 wins ? Still ok with paying that much?

There’s no indication that Brohm asked or demanded $6 mil/year. But if you had 2 companies fighting over you and bidding your salary up, are you going to stop them and say I only deserve 75% of what you’re offering so let’s start discussing a lower salary?

Well duh.......MY POINT is....Im glad we are not the ones dumb enough to pay him that much.....maybe we were, but Im glad we are the ones in the end having to fork that out to a .500 coach. He makes more than the Texas, Oklahoma, and Miami coach if not others .
You can see my post history....ive said from day one on this board and your board, if we have to pay more than 5 mil I did not want him. He is not worth that at this point, not to mention his defenses are atrocious and as louisville fan Im sick of that.

Purdue is obviously gambling that he shows a much higher potential than a .500 coach. He obviously has brought some excitement to the program with the outlook of a bright future. Continuing to cite his .500 record at Purdue ignores the fact that the previous 4 years of recruits that were in the program were near the bottom of all P5 programs and last in the BIG. Is his .750 record at WKU against peer programs a better indicator of potential?

Could be an indicator....its a gamble, like you said. You should know in the coming years. If you are paying him 6 mil a year and he doesnt win at least 7 games next year, id be pissed.....and maybe thats an example of why he didnt come to Louisville. IF we paid him 6 mil, we would expect results and quickly..

The same people reporting 6 million a year are the same people guaranteeing Brohm was going to Louisville...how about we let facts happen first...or have we not learned our lesson? Regardless, Brohm was going to get a raise no matter what.

Overpaying is a part of sports today..Its like in the nfl when you have a decent to good qb. You gonna either have to spend big to keep him and hope it works or risk letting him go somewhere else (Matt Stafford Andy Dalton Ryan Tannehill). To answer your question, i would think he needs to win 8-9 consistently with the occasional 10 win season.

I call bull on that one. Nebraska did it with Scott Frost, AtM did it with Jim bond Fischer, UCLA did it with Chip Kelly and finally the OSU did it with Urban Meyer. Our AD didn't play anyone, he was trying to hire a head coach that happened to have ties to the program. I will ask again you kept your coach now PLEASE GO BACK TO YOUR OWN MESSAGE BOARDS and let us handle our own business.

People are hurt because they take sports to serious and act like it's their life its cool to be a fan but damn you have no control so don't get butt hurt. There is always next year or the year after that. Life goes on with or with out sports
