Actually, if you look back with an unjaundiced eye, you only have your AD to blame. It was he that went public by naming Brohm as his #1 candidate. That is just not done in the AD world and, as it happens, will lessen the # of candidates, currently employed, that will be willing to talk with him.
It was your AD who leaked his optimism to the press (Dakich for example) in an effort to create a guilt trip for Brohm. And it was your AD who demonstrated himself to be a micro-manager by being on the sidelines and interacting with players, going on recruiting visits, etc.
Face it Cards, no decent, up and coming coach will want to work with this clown. He will bring you a retread who just wants backing coaching.
If you want to point fingers, point them at your AD who started this mess and your fan-boy media who ratcheted it up to disgusting levels.

This ^^ is the real answer. Jeff has integrity. Something we haven't witnessed much with Petrino and Pitino (and maybe Jurich for that matter).

Unfortunately you are right......I truly believe this. If what Im hearing is true (Purdue paying him 6 mil a year) they can have him. You can look at my post history...Ive said this from the very beginning, i did not want him for 6 mil a year. He is not worth that at this point and it would be stupid as hell to pay that much. He is .500 in the weak division of the Big ten and lost to some pretty bad teams. I see him being a 8 win max coach at Purdue and even then...is 6 mil worth that. We had an 8 win coach and he was getting 4 mil a year.

He was probably not allowed to address the job search directly until after the season was over which he did directly after the game on Saturday.

Was it Vince Tyra who leaked the info about Brohm or was it Jody Demling? I do agree that making a pecking order on who the candidates are public is bad business, but in this case, it was not a stretch to conclude Brohm was the priority and the way the media is today, they just throw shit out there to see what sticks then retract if forced to. I don't believe for a second Tyra leaked anything.

Brohm didn't turn this into a circus for two weeks. Tyra did that by firing Petrino and naming Brohm as his prime candidate before the season was even over. That's bush league.

Everyone know years 1 and 2 of a true rebuild isnt all about wins. They are more of a bonus..2013-2016 we were 9-39 3-30 B1G so 13-12 (9-9) is a big improvement. You think whoever Louisville brings in gonna have yall finish 2nd by yr 2?

Could be an indicator....its a gamble, like you said. You should know in the coming years. A coaches’ salary is whatever the school thinks he/she is worth. Same could be said for Athletic Directors.

Overpaying is a part of sports today..Its like in the nfl when you have a decent to good qb. You gonna either have to spend big to keep him and hope it works or risk letting him go somewhere else (Matt Stafford Andy Dalton Ryan Tannehill). To answer your question, i would think he needs to win 8-9 consistently with the occasional 10 win season.

I call bull on that one. Nebraska did it with Scott Frost, AtM did it with Jim bond Fischer, UCLA did it with Chip Kelly and finally the OSU did it with Urban Meyer. Our AD didn't play anyone, he was trying to hire a head coach that happened to have ties to the program. People are hurt because they take sports to serious and act like it's their life its cool to be a fan but damn you have no control so don't get butt hurt. There is always next year or the year after that. Life goes on with or with out sports
