Methinks someone has reached his saturation point with all of the "cal sucks" comments - lol.
I may have had like 11 bourbons before this post BP.

Not to mention Pitino saved UofK from potential death as a program. If he doesn't take that job, the program most likely doesn't recover and dies like the SMU football team died. I'll never forgive coach Pitino for that.Methinks someone has reached his saturation point with all of the "cal sucks" comments - lol.
Not a monster favorite without Anderson. He was a monster favorite in 1997

11? - that's a strong play my friend. Training for St. Paddy's day?I may have had like 11 bourbons before this post BP.![]()
Would have been interesting to see who they would have hired if RP hadn't rode to the rescue. Does anyone remember who the candidates were? If my memory is still somewhat accurate, I believe George Karl's name was being thrown around along with Riley, and CM Newton was actually thinking about stepping in himself before getting Pitino's attention.Would have been interesting to see who they would have hired if RP hadn't rode to the rescue. No question, Rick has his hand in everything coaching related. But HE runs team practices. And Padgett he has specifically said works with the 'bigs'.That's not necessarily true. It is common knowledge that Rick still likes to do the individual one on one workouts.
I would have agreed with John's "more titles" remark if it was couched in Pitino staying at LPT.
And BTW, U of L fans also share the delusion than Pitino's LPT teams were super-talented. They were compared to U of L at that time, which is a questionable point of reference. His teams WERE super-coached.
"Elite program." my a$$...
The 1996 team was incredible. Obviously in today's day and age, teams will never have a bunch of upperclassmen who play in the NBA like that team and a few of his others at UK.
That 96 team carved through the tourney like a hot knife through butter. They were super talented compared to everyone else, not just Louisville - but you're right about most of his teams - they were talented, sure, but not to the extent the 96 team was.
CM making the move would have been great - then uk basketball fans would hate him as much as the football ones do - lol.If my memory is still somewhat accurate, I believe George Karl's name was being thrown around along with Riley, and CM Newton was actually thinking about stepping in himself before getting Pitino's attention.
Anas fading away from Bonnie Colson was driving me insane! I mean you're only a foot taller than the guy - sheesh.Idk who teaches the bigs to throw up 1 handed floaters/fadeaways. That crap never goes in. That and the defensive speed/deflections are affecting this team. Ray spalding and donovan are deflections machines though so I would think if those guys get more time we will play better defense. Ray just hasn't been good on the offensive end.
Yes. Lute Olsen was one of the other names being thrown around. Good memory.CM making the move would have been great - then uk basketball fans would hate him as much as the football ones do - lol.
Wasn't Lute Olsen in the mix too?
Not pushing back but, other than some of the nonsense that the bigs throw up - and most of that is the type of shot taken rather than whether they're in a good spot on the floor - I really don't get your comment. What type of shots are you referring to specifically?Back to the OP topic, the weakness of this team continues to be recognizing what a good shot is and understanding that a teammate might have a better shot. I used to think it was being selfish but now I think it is basketball IQ and maturity.
I don't want to sound like I'm talking for him, but I think I understand where nccardfan is coming from. Someimes it would be better for the big guys to throw the ball back out of the post instead of trying to put up wild crazy shots without taking it strong to the rim. Anas will do the exact opposite at times and throw it back out when he has a mismatch and won't take it strong to the rim. Johnson tries to do both at the wrong times and Spalding looks to avoid contact at all cost. We need all 4 of those guys to play fearless. Right now IMO the only big we have who plays with no fear is Mathiang. Not pushing back but, other than some of the nonsense that the bigs throw up - and most of that is the type of shot taken rather than whether they're in a good spot on the floor - I really don't get your comment.
