Defense was suffocating. This is what I have waited to see. Players buying into defense. Pitino teams don't/can't win without strong defense. When shots don't fall like at Clemson, you gotta have defense to get you through it.

Who would've thought a few weeks ago that UofL could blow out Pitt with Lewis scoring 0 points?

I think this game demonstrated perfectly everything Pitino has been preaching to this team. Great defense can win you games even when your offense isn't clicking on all cylinders. The team got to see this firsthand tonight, so hopefully it will continue with this same effort.

Defense can win teams games during the regular season and even in the early rounds of the tournament, but in the later rounds teams better be very efficient on offense. The 2013 team offensively played great in the tournament. At that point offenses are good enough to score on any defense. For Louisville to go far they have to have Lee and Lewis playing at a high level.

Hard to argue. Actually it's impossible to argue. This thread is spot on 100% accurate. This team is more than just Lee and Lewis but make no mistake, both are leaders on this very young team. What we are seeing are teams keying on those two and other players realizing it and stepping up. As a team they're all stepping up on the defensive side of the ball after the missed opportunity against Clemson. This team is soaking in the coaching and taking it to heart. It's great to see!

We are going to need the scoring of Lee and Lewis down the stretch. The offense must get them shots. Luckily Pitt wasn't hitting early either. Great defense but it won't stop teams like Iowa from bombing from 30 feet out in the tournament.
